He didn't make much money off of me, but he earned my business for life. Other guys would have made up something else to gouge the bill, but Dustin is an honest man. He won't charge you for something you don't need! I recommend him to everyone.

Beware of D&M Small Engine Repair LLC & the owner Dustin Ables…read more I'm making this post in an effort to hopefully save someone money and time by avoiding doing business with a local company that I hired to repair my mower and totally botched the repair job and he won't stand behind his work. I hired Dustin Ables, he owns D&M mower repair located in Sharpsville. My riding mower had noise coming from one of the arbor / spindles. He replaced that whole arbor / spindle assembly with a "replacement" part. One that was definitely wrong for my mower. It failed and started making noise. At that point I decided to look into his repair. I found that the whole assembly that he installed wasn't even close to what the OEM part was. There is 3 inches in height difference alone between the arbor / spindle he installed and the one I had to purchase to replace it that was an OEM assembly thru Simplicity. It took a few trips to the simplicity dealer to get the mess figured out but it's finally fixed after replacing the correct parts. When I was doing the repair I also found that he rigged the pulley on the top of the spindle and it had came loose and it was causing the noise that alerted me that the spindle he replaced was not the correct part. Also while I was taking the spindle apart that he installed I found that he didn't even put any grease in it and I found a piece of a greasy rag inside the assembly. Pic of this is posted too. He charged me 261.85 for the botched repair. Over the past few weeks I tried several times to reach him via phone, text and instant messenger but he will not respond to any of my messages. He knows he botched this repair and will not stand good for his work. Dustin also did one previous repair on a bracket on the same mower just a few days prior which should've been my warning not to use him again. He told me that the bracket that was broken is not available anymore and he would reinforce the broken one and weld it back together. It broke within a couple of strips of mowing and he had to come and take the bracket off again and re-weld it. There was no reinforcement added (as he told me he would do) at all and his weld was obviously subpar and didn't hold. I found an OEM bracket online thru parts tree as well as one of the local Simplicity dealer for just under $11. He charged me $140 for this repair (which included putting grease in the original spindle that initially failed. I'm having my doubts he even greased it as he said he did. After the second time he "fixed" this bracket it loosened up and needed further attention. I repaired it myself as well. Thru conducting business with Dustin I have found that he is obviously not very good at repairing lawn equipment and is also not a very honest individual and is definitely not a good business man. I highly recommend everyone to avoid D&M if you're looking for someone to do repair work on your lawn equipment. I have tried SEVERAL times to communicate with him and he will not answer phone calls, text or messages thru messenger. Dustin had plenty of time to make this right with me and he failed to do so. Do yourself a favor and use a reputable dealer.

I also needed new belts and blades. The mower was a Cub Cudet zero-turn. It was 8 years old. They came and picked it up. First claimed the battery was bad; when I pointed out I had bought it there, it was good. They said so much wrong that they wanted me to buy a new one from them. I said no. They did several things to it in the tune of $900.00 brought back after about 2 and a half weeks. The same day they brought it back, it was sputtering, and the engine was not running correctly. I noted it was far worse after they fixed it. One of the things that they said was wrong was that gas was dirty. So they put on filters, etc., to fix that problem. I decided something must be wrong with the filter; they had put in the wrong filter, and there were no clips on the hoses holding it on. Ordered a new filter, which only took me 24 hours for the parts I needed. They claimed they were waiting for parts because they were having trouble fixing it. When they returned it, it was not returned with my key. I'm not sure where they found this one, but mine was marked; the one they gave me was hard to use, so I had to order another one. I have been in the store several times. If you are dealing with the repair department, you will always have to wait for 40 to 60 minutes. They never give you the same answer. They need someone who knows what's going on with a repair at any time. It takes many explanations forever to get anywhere with them. Oh, and by the way, I still have trouble with having to charge the mower every time I use it. No, I would not purchase or take any implement to be fixed. On a side note, while I was sitting there, an elderly lady asked about her mower. The salesperson told her hers was no good and was trying to sell her a new one. He then told her they would sell her old one for her. Hmm, if it was no good, why sell it to someone else? Very hard to find someone to work on the mowers, but I would definitely look elsewhere. They were not pleasant, nor was I.
