The barista who helped us was kind and patient, especially since it was our first visit and we were taking our time looking over the menu. Our drinks were also prepared very quickly, so I really appreciated the service. Our total came to about $16.35 for two drinks, which I thought was pretty reasonable. It honestly hurts me to say this because I loved almost everything about the establishment, but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the matcha. I ordered the Pineapple Matcha because it sounded unique and I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the matcha flavor was extremely light and tasted a bit powdery and watered down. I was expecting to get more of a pineapple flavor, but all I could really taste was orange. I'm not a fan of orange-flavored drinks, and I actually ended up drinking less than half of it, which was disappointing. That said, I really liked the atmosphere, the concept, and the service, so I'd still be open to coming back and trying something else. Maybe I just chose the wrong drink this time!

It's difficult to get my hair cut without getting strange stares or anxiety from being the only woman in the shop. Bi is the barber that gets my cut perfect every-time. He is easy to book and is always ready when I come through the door. I usually request unique designs and he always delivers. My husband went to Jack's a couple months ago while he was downtown to the Indy Winter Farmer's Market and he loved it. He has long hippie hair, so we finally went back this weekend, together this time, as he wanted to take off his mustache - it was getting real irritating to him of late. He told me I'd love Brenda and he was right. She is a hoot! This place is great for so many reasons. From the friendly welcome coming in, to the laughs you will have to the amazing decor from days gone by - it's a total experience. Brenda never lacks for something to say which keeps the place lively. I told Danny, it's like a haircut and a show! And at a great price, I agree with the other reviews. It was AMAZING to watch her shave him just like the barbers in the old movies - OK, maybe lots of barbers still use those straight razors but I was impressed. Danny looks great with his "Amish Mafia" beard and clean upper lip - it's a real different look. Brenda did an awesome job. And her service is FULL service - each person gets a massage at the end of their cut with a high RPM tool that is a Godsend. Brenda could see me wincing as I came in the door ~ I'd had a tough kettlebell workout and was hurting. She offered me Aleve and then told (yes, told - she is in charge!) Danny to get that thing and give my back a massage. It was WONDERFUL! So many thanks to her for being so generous and thoughtful. She also was very thorough with conditioning my hubby's beard - so thorough that she assured me she was not trying to "get up on" my man which I thought was hilarious! Danny did ask if I was watching close to see what she was doing - I'm sure it was wonderful! She is such a cutie and a real flirt. While I'm pretty sure she's all talk, I'm sure she makes lots of guy's days just being her adorable self. And she does have recommendations which I'm sure makes her a welcome partner for the other businesses in the Market. She was running a few minutes late when we arrived and her next customer came in and Brenda asked her if she'd checked out the Farmer's Market since she was a bit behind; she hadn't so she promptly did. read more

Needed a haircut since I'll be on the road for 3 weeks, so I stopped on into Jack's, and might I say, it was the right choice. Walked into a small shop, but kept very clean. Was greeted with so much energy and pleasantness that it was infectious. Brenda was the lady that lined me up, and boy was she animated. A simple need for a haircut turned into an uplifting afternoon. There wasn't anyone waiting. I walked in, took a seat and was quickly told it wouldn't be more than a couple of minutes. Great! They had two chairs going and the conversation was entertaining. After finishing with his current client, my barber called me over his chair and asked me how I get my hair cut. I am always nervous I won't explain it right, but he didn't seem to have any confusion. He was friendly and talkative and definitely made me feel comfortable. The haircut looks great and they even do a straight razor neck shave. All that for $20?? Awesome! I will also toss out there that the first haircut I got here back in December was also one of the best I've gotten and lasted much longer. All I can say is that I wish that I was local because this would be my go-to spot. It is a bit pricier, but you not only pay for your haircut, but you also pay for a wonderful experience. I read the other reviews on this place so I decided to take my son..... I must say I was absolutely DISGUSTED. The owner had the foulest mouth I have ever heard and after waiting for over 20 minutes listening to this lunatic embarrass the female race in front of my son I finally had to leave. Also, the market really smells bad and I felt like I needed to turn my wedding ring around so I wouldn't get robbed entering/ leaving this place. TOO MANY HOMELESS surrounding the shop. This barber shop is was a huge disappointment. I guess you can expect that sort of thing from an old woman barber though. Try 4:59 they have quick, friendly cuts, a tad bit more expensive but you get what you pay for...I will be staying with them THANK YOU. read more

I'll tell you what, folks: Brenda is the owner of Jack's Barber Shop (ask her about why it's called Jack's) and she's the most interesting barber I've ever used - and I'm beyond age 65, so that's saying something. She's funny, energetic and simply a delightful person to know. In addition, she does a good job with haircuts - and at a price that's low compared to others I've used. Furthermore, after my first haircut with her I told my wife about Brenda and now my wife gets her hair cut by Brenda too. At a barber shop - what a hoot! Had a great experience here today - finally made a yelp account to leave this review. First time going here; just moved to Indy. The shop is really nice, easy to get to despite downtown traffic (even heard Brenda give parking directions & offer to validate parking to a client who called and wasn't familiar with the area). Brenda got me cleaned up perfectly for my wedding this weekend. Also never felt like there was any danger of ending up with a default buzz cut (which has happened to me before...) Will definitely be coming back and recommending this shop to friends. read more

Cute little place inside the city market. Consuela did a decent job but it left something to be desired. I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere but my one reservation was that i was expecting a charming little place, and what I found was a pretty foul-mouthed athmosphere. If you don't enjoy some severe language then I would brace yourself before coming in. Besides that, it was a pretty alright place. Nothing special, but way better than any chain. read more

Excellent service, appointment within hours, Brenda is fun and makes me feel very comfortable. My ex-wife is a dropout from beauty school and made me scared to let someone near me with scissors. I let this woman use a straight razor on my neck. Instant trust built. Will return for sure, whenever I'm passing through Indy. Outstanding service and people. Kid-friendly. I've been coming to Jack's for almost two years and have never been disappointed. It's usually busy but have never had to wait long as a walk-in. Call and make an appointment if timing is a concern. Brenda and the other barbers do excellent work and are always pleasant to talk to. This is the place to go to get a haircut or shave downtown, can't recommend it enough. read more

When I go to Jack's Barbarshop. I'm always greeted with a nice welcome and a smile.. always a very friendly environment and great for conversation. Kelly Gave me one of the best haircuts and customer service I have ever had at Jacks Barbershop. Brenda does a good job, but she does talk about some very inappropriate things that really shocked me.
