After I brought it to their attention, their response to me, after I signed the lease was "well, you already saw a unit exactly like it so you should have known." In the future, they need to say that the windows DO NOT OPEN and don't assume people are aware. It's an assumption that windows typically open. Other windows in apartments in nearby mill buildings do open. I'm stuck in my lease until July, but I plan on closing on a townhouse soon. My son comes home from college in early May and will be unable to tolerate living here due to the window situation/lack of ventilation. He can usually tolerate cats (and I have one), but he cannot in such a small apartment without opening the windows. I will move him into the townhouse until my lease ends in July. Also, it's frustrating that I can't clean the walls. For example, the laundry is in the bathroom. I splashed detergent on the wall accidentally and I can't clean it off! The paint and plaster are so cheap, it can't be cleaned! And the dryer doesn't wash adequately, nor does the dishwasher. If you like fresh air, do not rent here. Also, beware of the thin walls and potential for screaming kids. From December through January, the kid next to me cried ALL through the night. I was on the verge of having a breakdown due to lack of sleep. While that's gotten better, the kid starts at 6 a.m. People smoke both cigarettes and marijuana (which I wouldn't mind if the windows opened!), so you can smell it in the hallways. It's gross. The apartment is beautiful, but I would have elected a not so beautiful apartment for open windows.

The Realtor showed me that building and several others and none held a candle to the first place I saw. So I signed the lease that day and went back to Atlanta to move. I lived there for four years and was proud to call it home. I always felt good leaving on business trips knowing that the building was being managed well and I had no worries. The neighbors quickly became friends as did the staff. I was always happy to show off my apartment to friends, many of whom said, "this building is a jewel!" I never asked for anything that was not accommodated quickly. the staff always exceeded my expectations. Even locking myself out of the car in a snow storm at the grocery was not a problem. I called Joe, the manager who quickly sent a staff member to help me. I retrieved my extra set of keys and was back on the road. That is better service that AAA. I hated that my job moved to a different part of New England and I had to leave the Highland House. I would happily move back there next week if it were possible, I highly recommend The Highland House in Worcester to anyone looking for new Home and commend Joseph, Jerry and the entire staff who were an important part of my life for four too short years..

Never had a problem here - highly recommend :-) [Not sure why someone said the buildings were loud. It's not loud at all. I've lived in some apartment buildings where you could literally hear the upstairs cat's toenails clicking on hardwood floor or lapping water from a bowl. I followed up with 2 more work order and 3 phone calls to the property office with no responses from them. This is the 2nd time it has broken since moving in a year ago, I am in the industry and have never seen a property run so poorly. A good run maintenance department should be doing work orders with thin 24 to 48 hours. The grounds are always dirty with residents just throwing thing all over the place and residents not picking up after their animals. This place was nice before Graystar took over.

It was a dump. I left in a year and found a much better place on my own--huge waste of a broker fee.
