This organization is amazing!!! We adopted our puppy in August of 2020 and are looking to adopt another either puppy or fully grown dog from the Jack Russell Network! We were interviewed with a seasoned volunteer (over Zoom because it was during the height of Covid) and she took so much time to talk through scenarios and our questions/ concerns. She also was great at explaining what needs and quirks the puppy we had applied for would have so we felt well prepared and very well matched. She told us that our very reasonable fee (considering the alternative prices we saw going at the time) when fully to his vaccines, food, and transport costs and that the network is comprised fully of volunteers who give their time simply because they love dogs :) And man are there are SO many volunteers! Our puppy was saved from a kill shelter in Texas at which point he and his sister and several other pups from the kills shelter there made their way to Canada via convoy. We found out these convoys run once every few weeks! So amazing how many dogs they must have been able to scoop out of the kill shelters down there! Our pup was exactly as high energy and attention needing as they had advised us. He is now 2 y/o and thriving so we are looking to get him a sister. We were advised that since our last adoption, some of the laws had changed at the boarder, but we honestly can't say enough great things about how informed and up to date we have been kept. Love and highly recommend the JRNC. We adopted our Sadie last August and she is a true blessing in our lives. My family used Pet Finder to find a dog to adopt, and when we came across Sadie, we knew we wanted to apply for her. The application process made sure that she would be a good fit for us. We had to complete a written application with questions about how we would handle different scenarios, our experience with dogs, and our home situation. After that stage, we had a phone call with the foster parent, a video interview where a JRNC employee looked at our house and yard, and the final stage was reference checks. We had frequent communication with Sadie's foster family and they were able to meet us half-way so that we could pick her up. The organization made sure that Sadie was spayed and microchipped and they provided all her vet records. The JRNC overall often rescues dogs from the Southern US where they likely otherwise end up in less than ideal shelter situations. I've seen other reviews of this organization and I think they have rectified the issues raised, and made conscientious efforts to ensure that the dogs go to good homes and that families are adequately prepared to take on the responsibility that comes with adopting a rescue animal. We were made aware of the possibility that a rescue animal may have some negative behavior that may require additional training and patience. The JRNC was responsible and helpful in our search and I absolutely would recommend considering the JRNC for pet adoption. This is just our experience but I felt like it was worth sharing. read more

I have had a great experience with Jack Russell Network. I adopted a young terrier cross from them who was rescued from Louisiana, he is an amazing pup and a perfect match for us. The volunteer that I primarily interacted with was his foster mom (who owns another rescue from Jack Russell Network as well). She was really excellent, she and her partner clearly spent a lot of time training him (including toilet training him) and caring for him and socializing him with their pets. I had a rigorous interview and was given thorough information about the dog, there were no surprises. We had detailed discussions about lifestyle and expectations and they really made sure we were compatible. After the interview, the next step involving meeting my potential dog at a dog park with his foster family so I could see him interact with other dogs and see if we were a good match (spoiler - we were!). This was followed by a second interview with another volunteer. They provided a ton of information as part of the adoption process (handouts etc.) which was really helpful, as well as very detailed vet records, and a referral to a trainer with a discount code. We keep in touch with his foster parents and the rescue, and we can see they really care about the dogs they rescue. read more

It's been almost 3 months since my family received a rescue from the JRNC and he has been a true blessing. Our Auggie was rescued from a kill shelter in the US and he has been a hilarious, goofy and unbelievably loving member of our family. It took a while for him to adjust to his new surroundings- he was very suspicious and afraid of my mother but grew to love everyone in the family. He has been an absolute joy and injection of new energy into our house. The people at JRNC are amazing, loving and their hearts are in the right place. They were very thorough with the vetting process and it's very obvious they are motivated by their love for animals. The negative reviews for JRNC are more reflective of the people rather than the animals or the organization. The JRNC is a rescue organization- some animals take longer to rehabilitate than others and not all animals will live up to some unrealistic preconceived fantasy of how they should behave. It's a shame these people blame their own shortcomings onto the organization. I have recommended the JRNC to a work colleague and she received her JR a few days ago and she is overjoyed. We fostered a pup for JRNC that had come from Louisiana. He had been adopted and returned for a multitude of bad habits. The white up from his previous adopters was horrible and totally false. While Roscoe was definitely confused when we got him he turned around quickly and became the most loving dog I'd ever met. He loves to give kisses and curl up on your lap. He loves his walks with his big sister Kali and he follows our grand daughter everywhere. He is such a good dog that we adopted him. He loves playing with the neighbours 3 Cavaliers and even though Kali is 100 Lbs they play all the time. They have really bonded and everyone that meets him just loves him. This rescue organization does an amazing job and save the lives of many sweet souls. I've been fostering dogs for 20 years and I admire the work the volunteers do in all rescues. When I read negative reviews I feel bad because it could potentially harm the rescues. With Roscoe the family obviously didn't understand the breed so my advice is this....research the type of dog you want to adopt and remember...there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. read more

Our beautiful Jalen has settled very well with her new brother Choco. She is the sweetest little girl we have ever have. Thank you to the JRNC our family is now blessed with the new addition to the family. It was a very exiting and amazing journey from the moment we applied to adopt Jalen and the moment we were able to hug her for first time. A very special thank you to Mary Ann from JRNC Bengals who provided love and took such a good care of the little one until they were ready to be transported to their forever homes. Through talented pictures and constant communication we were able to follow up on our little puppies and see them grow each day. The transport day was very well organized and we knew every moment where our little one were located and the very special moment when they became Canadians. I would recommend JRNC to anyone looking to provide a forever home to these rescue dogs. It's full of lots of people with a great hart wanting to make the difference for these little dogs. I recently adopted my pup through JRNC, they have been great the whole way through. Since the organization is volunteer based I did not expect an interview right away, but within a few days my interview was set up. I appreciated the fact that all of my references were checked and created a Facebook page for updates on my pup. The person who ran the Facebook page was available to answer any questions I had about the pup and gave tips on how to make the transition process from the foster to permanent home easier. It's been a year since we rescued our sweet boy Nico And we couldn't be happier. The Jack Russell network was so helpful and professional each step of the way. the organization of home visits and pick ups couldn't have gone smoother. We adopted a 7 month old jack russell mix from jr network 2.5 years ago. They were very thorough with the interview process and the reference checks. We did a FaceTime walk through of our house and fenced in backyard, since we lived an hour and a half away. Linda, who was fostering Odie at the time and volunteers her time with the rescue, has stayed in contact with us and comments on every single photo we post of Odie.
