We rented our vacation property from Connor Jacobsen this year (2012). All initial dealings seemed…read morewonderful with regard to securing the rental and check in process was easy and fast. The problems began after we returned home and did not receive our security deposit refund a month after our vacation. When my husband called to find out why we had not received our refund ($500), he was told that the owner of the unit said that two small rugs needed to be replaced because they were wet and sandy. The rugs in question, had been washed and left on a drying rack in the outside covered shower area. I admit that I did forget the rugs were out there before we checked out and I do realize that was my mistake. It is my feeling that the rugs did not have to be replaced, but I DO understand that it is the owners decision and I am fine with that. HOWEVER, the rugs in question were cotton bathroom type rugs and Connor Jacobsen informed us that the owner said the replacement cost would be a whopping $265.00! I have no problem with the owner taking part of our security deposit to replace the rugs, but I think the rental agency has a responsibility to the renter as well as the owner to make sure that the rugs purchased are the same type/quality. We asked for a copy of the owners receipt and the rugs purchased were Sisal Rugs from Pottery Barn! One of the rugs was twice the size (2.5X9) than the rug supposedly needing to be replaced!!! My husband requested that the old rugs be sent to us (our right as renters) and we were told that the rugs were still being used until the replacement rugs arrive! If the rugs truly needed to be replaced then they should not be in usable condition-should they? Connor Jacobsen did nothing through this process to represent our rights as the renter - they catered only to the owners needs. Furthermore, they allowed the owner of the property to extort money from a renter to obtain newer and more expensive rugs. I realize that this is a classic case of one persons word against another, but I can assure you that we literally vacuumed our way out of our rental property and we took great care to make sure everything was clean and tidy when we left. As I mentioned before, the rugs in question had been washed and hung neatly on a drying rack. Connor Jacobsen did nothing to verify the condition of the rugs in question and were negligent in allowing the owner to purchase rugs that were not the same material/quality. Beware renters - you will not be represented equally. We will never rent from this agency again and we give fair warning to those of you that do.

We were pretty set on Takoma Park when we met her, but she encouraged us to consider other areas. Ultimately, we did buy in TKPK, but we felt so much better about this decision after taking the time to compare it to other communities. When we did find the house we wanted, Jennifer was great about building a relationship with the selling agent and then helping us crank out an offer letter that Sunday night we saw the house. She kept good track of everything during the closing process and her charming personality helped smooth over the few bumps in the road we had. Her husband is an expert on fixer-uppers, so while our house was move-in ready, he was a great resource as well. She came highly recommended to us by an agent a co-worker had raved about, and we were not disappointed!

That is WAYNE LYONS of the Leslie Kopp Group. So why am I saying this? Simply because of the very high degree of his professionalism, knowledge and hard work ethic. Since 1999, Wayne has helped me buy and sell four different properties in the Bethany Beach area. In each of these transactions he 'jealously' represented me and my needs. I've never seen a realtor as responsive, focused and willing to do whatever it takes to 'exceed' my expectations as a buyer and a seller. So what could he possibly do to IMPROVE his levels of service? Simply. GET A LICENSE TO WORK IN MARYLAND. I REALLY wish that he had a license to represent me in Maryland, because if he had, I would have probably made and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in realtor fees. So before you 'sign' with anyone else, RUN- don't walk- and use 'THE' Best Realtor (sorry Leslie!!) in the greater Beach area. Call WAYNE at 302 858-7347!!!
