First off, PLEASE keep in mind that very few people are going to take the time to write about their…read morepositive experiences~ the bulk of what you will see in these forums are folks who are in need of blowing off steam. They are motivated by negative emotion, whereas when things go well, people tend to simply skip along to the next part of their day/week/life~ because all is well. That being said, how about we take the time to occasionally document for others what went right about an experience? Especially those that are inherently stress-provoking, such as dental care & auto repair, for instance. Any time large amounts of money & our ability to function properly in life are involved, there are bound to be lots of online searches because people are trying to increase their odds of making an educated decision. It's important to do your research on the front end, as well as understand the company's business model & how that may fit with your expectations. *Aspen Dental in Prescott Valley AZ* is the location I have experience with, & I could not be more comfortable with my decision to go there, as well as my care over this past year or so now. Staff all have distinctive roles in the process of ensuring a proper, comprehensive patient experience, along w/smooth day to day operation of a business. The staff here are highly competent, & have been transparent in every aspect of my process. From the upfront cost- based on a thorough examination, patient input/expectation - to the ongoing physical comfort level throughout each step of the process. They work very well together, which translates to a confident, positive experience for the patient. Again, do your research, understand what your insurance does/does not cover, & know what you can/cannot afford. They are very good at what they do, but cannot read your mind~ bring your questions & concerns to your appt.'s- write them down ahead of time. Make every effort to do your part in the relationship, this is a business of humans serving humans~ not a vending machine. Be flexible, patient & kind~ that's what you're hoping for from a dentist's office, right? Things come up, emergencies happen- on both sides- so understand that you are not their only patient. A business could not survive on just one patient at a time- so be realistic. Understanding your own role/responsibility will go a long way toward what kind of an experience & outcome you have. Aspen Dental in Prescott Valley AZ~ in my experience~ is an excellent choice for those looking for quality dental care overall, prosthesis dentistry (including extractions, if necessary) and top-notch, ongoing aftercare.

The dentist never looked in my mouth. I spent the majority of my time with a sales lady who said I needed $1300 that insurance would not cover.

Finally, a dental place that is good, cheap, and fast. I'm pretty sure that violates some…read morefundamental law of physics, but there you have it. If you are following my dental hygienks (get it?), you've no doubt read about my experiences at the local Pro Dental (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pro-dental-columbia#hrid:DVY2zjS5BuBeVPP0P4kIgA). After that, I somehow got lucky, and landed an appointment at this place. Thank goodness. Let me count the ways. One: Inexpensive and Good. So inexpensive, that, since I am a relatively healthy person without any chronic dental issues, it is actually cheaper for me to pay for the check-ups and x-rays than to pay for dental insurance. Of course, if I get that root canal, I will be wishing I had the insurance but a guy has to have some excitement in his life. As far as the quality goes, I'm no expert, but I am sort of observant, and the hygienists go by every tooth, with the pick-thing and the polisher and the floss, and Dr. Fuchs checks there work every time and even checks my tongue and gums for cancerous things, along with the questions about smoking or chew and such. So he seems to care. Two: Nice folks. From the receptionist who knows your name even though they only talk to you once every 6 months, to the hygienists who are thorough and personable, to Dr. Fuchs himself who is professional and friendly, I'm just not sure you could ask for much more. Three: Quick and painless. I guess dentistry isn't ever going to be the thing you really look forward to, but for the most part, I leave there feeling better than I walked in. If they need X-rays, they take X-rays. If I'm getting my teeth cleaned, they get cleaned. If there are other issues, they ask me and I reply, and things get done. It's pretty straight forward, and they make the whole thing easy. But a review should have something about what is not-so-great, and so I'll include that here... Ah... well, I guess.... um... no, they do give me the free toothbrush.... I guess the AC is usually cranked, and sometimes I'm a little cold, so there is that. Anyhow, go there and judge for yourself.

Avoid Dr. Miller at all costs…read more Long story short - his work will not hold up and can lead to serious health problems, details below. Received a couple of fillings, crowns, and a root canal (from a filling he did wrong) from Dr. Miller over 1-1.5 year period about 3 years ago. At this point, all work he placed in my mouth had to be replaced and some of them have led to serious issues and oral surgery. First, my last treatment at Columbia Center for dentistry was a root canal. The root canal was on a tooth Dr. Miller did a filling on 2-3 months prior. At the time of the filling I said that it didn't feel like it was in my tooth all the way. He told me that it was just my tongue and the anesthesia, looked in my mouth and said "looks perfect to me" I insisted it wasn't in and he told me that he was the dentist and I wasn't and said I should purchase a warranty plan on it if I was unsure. 2-3 months later I'm back in the chair, filling wasn't in all the way and debris got into it, more decay, needed a root canal. After the root canal I said "good thing I bought the warranty" - was told the warranty only covered another filling and I had to pay for the entire root canal. I said that was ridiculous because I pointed it out prior and even bought the warranty. They ended up refunding me the warranty after the complaint and I got a letter that I was kicked out of the practice because I "disrespected him and his time". What about my (correct) opinion about the bad filling? And my time and money I had to spend getting his mistakes fixed? But that's not where this root canal ends. Today, I have just left an emergency surgery after having a CT scan on my head revealing a massive abscess resulting from his root canal. Something about him not putting posts in and the roots breaking off from the main tooth, leading to a gigantic infection that (not exaggerating) ate completely through the rear portion of my upper jawbone. I had to have multiple bone grafts just to keep the rear tooth from drifting away and to have a chance at an implant in the future. Doesn't stop there. After columbia, I lived in St. Louis for one year. The dentist there had to repair a crown Dr Miller had done that fell off. The dentist remarked how the tooth was almost completely ground away and that "usually dentists have a plan when they make crowns". Then I move to Chicago, the first dentist I see asked the same question as the stl dentist "who was your previous dentist?". One of the other crowns Dr. Miller did, he had ground all of the tooth away to a tiny nub and cut my gums, and then attached the crown while they were still bleeding which led to a leaky seal, allowing bacteria into the tooth which had spread down to my jaw. Had to have a portion of my jawbone removed and that crown extracted as well. Had to have all the other crowns and fillings replaced too. Same story with every crown, tooth ground to a nub. I got a second and even third opinion before I had all of this done - with the exception of todays emergency surgery. Last night and this morning were the most pain I have ever been in amongst surgery, broken bones, anything. Pure agony. I also never knew that root canal specialists existed until leaving Dr. Millers practice. Not only did he not refer me to one before botching mine. He did not even suggest or mention it. Now after 2 oral surgeries and 3 trips to my new dentist, all of his work is finally out of my mouth. It has cost me tens of thousands of dollars, a lot of pain, a lot of time, and portions of my jawbone that will hopefully recover with the cadaver bone grafts. Missouri has a 2 year statute of limitations against malpractice so legal recourse is limited. He might be able to do one or two fillings fine or a sloppy crown but I cannot begin to describe how much misery Dr. Millers sloppy work and arrogant attitude have brought to my life. I can't even eat solid food for 2 months now because of the extractions and missing jawbone. Other 1 star reviews have disappeared but email me if you want evidence.

I'm surprised this Dentist office doesn't have more reviews. This place is hands down the best…read moredentist office I've ever been too. Everyone is super kind from the receptionist to the hygienists. Dr. Miller is great also! He's very personable, and very attentive to your concerns. The hygienists are very gentle when cleaning your teeth, and if you are curious about teeth whitening they will go over everything in detail for you. Love this place!
