If you are following my dental hygienks (get it?), you've no doubt read about my experiences at the local Pro Dental (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pro-dental-columbia#hrid:DVY2zjS5BuBeVPP0P4kIgA). After that, I somehow got lucky, and landed an appointment at this place. Thank goodness. Let me count the ways. One: Inexpensive and Good. So inexpensive, that, since I am a relatively healthy person without any chronic dental issues, it is actually cheaper for me to pay for the check-ups and x-rays than to pay for dental insurance. Of course, if I get that root canal, I will be wishing I had the insurance but a guy has to have some excitement in his life. As far as the quality goes, I'm no expert, but I am sort of observant, and the hygienists go by every tooth, with the pick-thing and the polisher and the floss, and Dr. Fuchs checks there work every time and even checks my tongue and gums for cancerous things, along with the questions about smoking or chew and such. So he seems to care. Two: Nice folks. From the receptionist who knows your name even though they only talk to you once every 6 months, to the hygienists who are thorough and personable, to Dr. Fuchs himself who is professional and friendly, I'm just not sure you could ask for much more. Three: Quick and painless. I guess dentistry isn't ever going to be the thing you really look forward to, but for the most part, I leave there feeling better than I walked in. If they need X-rays, they take X-rays. If I'm getting my teeth cleaned, they get cleaned. If there are other issues, they ask me and I reply, and things get done. It's pretty straight forward, and they make the whole thing easy. But a review should have something about what is not-so-great, and so I'll include that here... Ah... well, I guess.... um... no, they do give me the free toothbrush.... I guess the AC is usually cranked, and sometimes I'm a little cold, so there is that. Anyhow, go there and judge for yourself.

Really. I've had all my general dentistry, wisdom teeth removal, and a dental implant done here and have nothing but great things to say. My hygienist was gentle and thorough, and I never felt pressured to buy anything I wasn't interested in. Dr. Mahlin always takes the time to talk with you, explain any procedure, or answer any questions you may have. I never felt rushed through my appointment, or like I was just a paycheck. The receptionists are kind and explain any questions you might have about billing. Yes, they are priced a bit higher than other dentists, and sometimes I got annoyed with all of the appointment reminders, but I think they run a good dental practice and would easily recommend them.

I had to call five times today to even get a response. I called before they closed at 3 PM today. Never got a response. They also never told any of their clients that they were be closed at three today. It took about four hours for me to get a response and when I did, it was from the on-call doctor and he basically told me to call back Monday instead of answering any of my concerns and I'm worried about a dry socket. I think that should be taken care of before Monday. or at least actually answer my questions.

After several calls to other offices that only had available appointments more than a week away, I called Hometown dental. They took me in for an appointment one hour away. Their office was clean and well organized, but the staff was wonderful in every way. Their equipment is top notch too, first time I'd ever seen a hand held X-ray machine the posts the X-ray on the exam room TV in less than one second. They remounted my defective cap for me, and I made an appointment for a new one to be created and installed. When I mentioned how wonderful my experience had been, Kayla told me, "...when people love what they do, it shows". She is so right. I highly recommend this dental office.

I was scheduled for a consult with Dr. Parrott because I needed a molar (tooth #19) extracted and I knew it would be difficult because it was in the center of a bridge, He worked off of the xrays that I had from Dr Nolph in Jefferson City as I did not want more xrays taken. He took the time to work me in that day as I had been treated for an abscess. He worked very hard to get out this decaying tooth, removing it in pieces, He even took time to pre-numb with a first shot before giving the big dose of novacain. His staff was very pleasant and considerate. I was presented with two options and went just with extraction with a plug in order to not overstep my insurance coverage. I will go back anytime to see Dr Parrott. Also, I apologize to the waiting room patients who might have been delayed by my care which was provided excellently but I am certain took longer than expected. As a 78 year old, I will remain eternally grateful for Dr. Parrott and his staff.
