He drinks beer, so I figured he would have plenty to drink. When we first got there right at 8, the venue seemed almost empty. We walked around and found the VIP area. I thought it might be just a bar with liquor, turns out it was this swanky place. The only hinge was that my husband, being non-VIP, couldn't come in. I had to talk to him over a rope, which was a down turn of the night. I didn't like the separation at all. The alcohol in the VIP area was amazing! I love me some Jack Daniels Honey and most bars don't normally have it. This one did, and I was set! So excited! The food was also great! They had a carving station with rolls and mozzarella on a stick with tomatoes and olives. So good. We did venture to the food area around the corner, and it was ok. I have been to most of the restaurants from the food vendors and I know their food is better than what they had. After talking to a bartender, she said they were setting up all day, so I'm wondering was the food there just too early? It tasted old, and most of what should have been hot wasn't. I just hope some people don't judge these restaurants by what they had available. At about 10 it got to be too crowded. The stage area was full and there were just people everywhere so we left. Overall great night for a great cause. The vendors were more than generous, I think next time we might just have to splurge for the upgrade VIP :).

Through its annual holiday party and other yearly events, Second String Santa raises money and delivers thousands of gifts and school supplies to needy children in our area. The 2009 event occurred at the NBA Bobcats Arena in the city of Charlotte. This formal event involved complimentary beer and wine along with catered food. For $100, a VIP section was available in the PSL section of the arena. As I'm constantly reminded by folks in town....this IS a small town, so this was one of the biggest social events of the year at least as it pertains from a charity perspective. The annual event has a $30 cover charge plus provide a toy for a child. When I attended this event last week, there were a massive amount of huge cardboard boxes filling up with toys beyond the registration desk....quite an incredible scene. It is always nice to know that my time and money.........and drinking can attribute to a childs happiness..........hmmmm...that didn't quite come out right, but nonethelesss, I had a great time. The hours were from 7pm until 11pm with last call at 10:30pm. The event had an after party at Suite which allowed for dancing that didn't occur at the event. A great way to get dressed up and do it for a good cause. Check it out in 2010.

We came in about 11a on a Sunday and the restaurant was half full- not busy by any means. It took is maybe five minutes to be sat (not a big deal) but then we sat another 10-15 minutes before anyone came over to greet us. They didn't bring waters until we asked (it's standard that you greet your tables with water) and the server seemed brand new and had a hard time getting our order. For someone still obviously in need of training I'd expect them to be with another server. Once we finally got our food in everything tasted good. The prices were great. I won't be going back solely based on service though. There were two managers on the floor who seemed a scattered as the rest of the staff and again... they weren't busy so I'm not really sure what the issue was. I also want to add it was incredibly windy but for some reason all of the umbrellas were open. Sure enough five minutes later one of them fell over and nearly took out a couple of people. There was no staff to be found as the gentleman struggled to close it. When a young man did walk out to help he asked if the guy needed help versus taking the initiative to handle it. A few minutes later one of the manager ran out. I saw a note that they're under new management... hopefully things improve soon.

My date and I had a good time, and I might go again for the Groupon price that I got, but not for full price. The food at Beauregard's was acceptable, but just barely. I realize that the Murder Mystery Company has no control over the quality of the food, just sharing for those that are wondering. Full disclosure: after attending, The Murder Mystery Company emailed me asking me to write a Yelp review, and they'd give me tickets for $20/person for a future performance. I don't normally Yelp, and probably wouldn't have written this review without the incentive. That said, this is an honest review, and I wouldn't change it even for free tickets.

I have been to other professional murder mysteries and I was excited to hear there would be a show in Wake Forest. But I didn't realize the poor quality and execution of this company. I would not call this group of for professional as they just guided the improv from the ticket holders. The 25 or so suspects were just the audience and that was a lot of people to keep track of and try to remember who was who. Not everyone is good at improv so having the show based on audience participation is just a recipe for disaster. There were four cast members but one of them "Howie" didn't do anything in the show besides take photos of the other three. This performance was more like one of those Murder Mystery boxes you can buy to have a party at your house with friends. It was missing the storyline development by the cast. The cast needed to take the lead and be the show. Most of the night had the audience mingling with the other audience members to share clues. There were two sessions of the mingling which just dragged on this show. Lots of the audience left early and I wanted to as well but I hoped it would get better but it never did. At the end they give out some awards to the audience members who participated. Then they pick a winning table. I'm not sure how that was determined as my table had the same suspect and reasoning and it was not acknowledged as figuring it out. I am sure other tables figured it out as well. I would not recommend this company at all and would look for a better option if you enjoy murder mysteries.
