I have been collecting art for many years now and have never experienced the ineptitude and…read moreunprofessionalism that l have had with this so-called gallery full stop! I purchased a very expensive painting from them and l still haven't received it due to their inexperience! Firstly, their very young employee Emma took it upon herself to send the painting via UPS Saturday delivery! She never once asked me if this was okay and the shipping fees were absolutely astronomical! I use a business address for shipping and Saturday delivery isn't even possible! ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE CUSTOMER FIRST BEFORE MAKING SUCH BIG DECISIONS! I requested a refund for the shipping charges, but Emma refused! Young Emma kept promising me that she had followed up with UPS to reschedule delivery, but sadly, l had to keep following up with her as she never followed up with me directly! I kept tracking the package and there were even more hiccups! The package was never placed on the delivery truck for the supposed rescheduled delivery of yesterday. Today l wait and wait, At 4:37 p.m. l tracked the package again only to find that the wrong address is on the shipping label! Where is my painting? I will never know and will file a dispute with my cc company. Just a warning to please avoid SOCO at all costs for anything of value!

I thought the art was really interesting and some of the pieces I would actually put in my home. Not all of them, but there were some nice ones. It's a lovely space and they have good art. Worth a stop especially if you need a coffee! [Review 12569 overall, 2361 of 2019.]

Super cool spot where you can peruse and purchase art from Local Charlotte Artists, both newbies…read moreand well known alike. The artists are set up mostly in stalls that they rent from the Art League. The pieces range from all sorts of different mediums: Resin, canvas, sculptures, photographs, etc. I've walked through several stalls and while most of the artists set up and go about their day-jobs, you'll occasionally find an artist using their stall as a studio and working on whatever project they're focused on at the time. Everyone I've talked to here has been friendly and inviting. This isn't your stereotypical "snobby" art place. These people are down to earth and eager to see you. Prices range from the super affordable to the super expensive, with a happy medium in every price range in between. One stall I saw had 24x36" resin piece on canvas that was going for $700!! Way out of my price range but I'm sure someone will see it and decide that they aren't leaving without it. If you find something you like, you can take it up front where the cashier will run your purchase on behalf of the artist. Keep in mind that mostly everything is for sale, but some pieces are works in progress or display only. Everything I've seen in here is labeled properly to avoid any confusion. It's a community cornerstone that hosts events, supports charities, and spotlights some of the most prominent artists in the QC. What's not to like?

The security guard had me wait in the lobby while he went in to the gallery to turn the lights on. I got the impression that there wasn't a whole lot going on here. It's a good thing that it's free, because 30 minutes of looking at pictures wouldn't have been worth much. And even at 30 minutes, I was still moving pretty slow. When I visited, the exhibit was "Streetwise", a collection of pictures of America's troubled 60's. Capturing images of not just our troubled times, including Boston's "Combat Zone" and close-ups of the Black Panthers, there were also shots of just regular people and places. All in black and white, which gave it a feel of being very like a documentary. Pictures of the pictures are not permitted, but I took that as meaning not taking a picture of the individual pictures. Instead, my wide shot of the gallery doesn't give away the detail but helps you see what you're going to see there. I might come back for the next exhibit, but I think this is a "See it once" kind of thing.

Great intimate space, the artist were so insightful and the crowd genuinely appreciated the artist panel and the photography. It was very well curated. Great space, seasoned artists. Well done.
