    Love and Laugh Event Venue

The Love and Laugh Event Venue is, on the surface, a nice space. It worked well for my family…read morereunion, and the interior itself is good for the price. While the website does outline the parking situation, it still proved to be a real inconvenience on the day of the event. However, the bigger issues were with the management and cleanliness. The owner kept my $250 non-refundable deposit for some spots on the floor, which I had pointed out to him upon my arrival. It was clear the venue hadn't been properly cleaned before our event--I found utensils, bread, and hair from a previous event. I cleaned the kitchen sink because there was dirt in it, even though we really didn't use that area. But just to point out the venue was not as clean as the owner was trying to make it seem, it was. When I brought up these concerns, the owner tried to justify his actions by invoking his status as a Black-owned small business, even though he was charging a Black family an excessive amount for cleaning that wasn't our responsibility. Additionally, there were no trash cans, which was a huge inconvenience. I strongly advise anyone considering this venue to conduct a very thorough walkthrough and document everything with your own photos. It's a shame that a decent venue is managed with such a lack of professionalism and care.

Okay first things first....beautiful space! Our guest had issues with parking but outside of that…read moreit was a great place for the price....BUT....the day before our rental we reviewed a "legal pad" of how the place should be left after we exited....take out "All" the garbage and place in dumpster behind the building, sweep, cut off a/c, sound system etc....then they wanted us to make sure to cut off every light BUT to cut on "three" specific lights...okay will do...So why the one you ask?....I received the attached email with a video showing "3" lights were left on "OVER Night" and $150 will be deducted from our deposit...I called David and he told me that they felt it was "fair" because of the discounts they gave for us to rent the space.....So three lights (over night) cost our nonprofit $150... *Buyer Beware* and remember to cut those lights off

As someone who moved here from the Bay Area and is still finding my favorite outdoor spaces in…read moreCharlotte, I'm always on the lookout for places that offer a little peace and beauty in the middle of a busy day. The McGill Rose Garden absolutely delivered on that. This is truly a beautiful venue--lush flowers everywhere, winding walk paths, and plenty of places to sit quietly and just take it all in. It's the kind of space where you can slow down, clear your head, and quite literally stop and smell the roses. I found it to be a wonderful spot for reflection, a casual stroll, or simply enjoying nature without needing to leave the city. One of the things I especially appreciated is that you can enhance the experience with a visit to the wine bar onsite, Rosie's Wine Garden, where you can grab a coffee, cocktail, or glass of wine and then wander the grounds at your own pace. It adds a relaxed, almost European feel to the whole experience. A quick heads-up: parking can be a bit tricky, as the entrance is off a busy street, so just take your time and be patient when pulling in. Once you're there, though, it's well worth the effort. Bottom line: If you're looking for a small but charming botanical-style garden in Charlotte--a quiet place to reset, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors--this is a lovely little gem. For me, it checked all the boxes and has become a welcome respite in the middle of a busy day.

Talk about a hidden gem! This was a great place to get coffee, wine and/or a snack and hang out for…read morea while. Rosie's Coffee and Wine is adjacent and service there was super friendly and fast. There is indoor seating there, but the gardens have little twists and turns and different areas to sit, too. When we visited it wasn't too busy, so we had our choice of tables. There was a birthday or bachelorette type of party in another part of the garden.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would absolutely recommend it…read more The room was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and very spacious. I love the shower and overall room design, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. There were plenty of towels and great storage space, and the mirror and lighting were a huge plus. I also appreciated the bench in the room; it was perfect for setting items down or sitting. The coffee in the room was good, and I love the cute little espresso cups that came with, which felt like such a thoughtful touch. Having an ice and water machine close by was also really convenient. One thing I really appreciated was the ability to text the hotel for anything I needed. It made communication, quick and easy and added to how seamless this stay felt. Brittany was especially nice and helpful via text message. When I first arrived, the room was set to 57 degrees, which felt very cold, considering it was in the 20/30s outside. It did take a bit of time to warm up, but once it did, the room was very comfortable. The only other small hiccup was that the room safe needed a battery replacement, but I messaged the front desk and maintenance took care of it right away. The maintenance staff member was friendly and helpful. I love that the hotel offers a keyless entry option (even though I didn't personally use it), and I really enjoyed the food and drink service to the room. The bartender was especially friendly and welcoming, with great drink options. I also checked out the gym, which looked great and was well maintained. I love that it offered a Peloton, which was a nice bonus. This was my first solo trip, and I felt very safe throughout my stay. I appreciated that the doors locked at certain hours and requires a key card for entry. Parking is available in a structure across the street for $15.30 per night and was easy to access in and out. The staff overall was very friendly, including housekeeping. The only suggestion I'd make is that it would be helpful if the front doors had a way to stay open or a button for entry, as it was a bit tricky managing luggage, though the luggage trolley was conveniently available right inside the entrance. I also felt the early check-in fee of $75.00 was a bit steep for ~two hours. The area felt safe and nice, with great nearby coffee shops, stores, and a beautiful mall in South Park. While I love the area, I'd personally choose to stay closer to downtown next time since travel times ended up being longer than expected. Overall, this was a great experience, and I'd happily stay here again!

I had one of the worst travel experiences of my life with the Canopy by Hilton Charlotte Southpark,…read moreand what made it truly unacceptable was the behavior of the staff. I had a confirmed reservation, completed check in earlier in the day through the Hilton Honors app (I am a Hilton gold member), and even selected my room in advance. By the time I arrived at 1130 pm, exhausted and emotionally drained, I had every reason to believe my room was secured. Instead, I was told the hotel was oversold and had no rooms available. What happened next was beyond disappointing. The front desk attendant was incredibly cold, dismissive, and outright rude. He claimed a manager had called me to notify me of the issue, which was simply not true. When I asked what I was supposed to do, I was told, in a tone that made it clear he did not care, that it was not his problem. There was no attempt to help, no effort to find alternative accommodations, and no sense of urgency despite the late hour and the fact that the city was fully booked. Instead he watched as my sister and I sobbed and panicked in the lobby for an hour without so much as a sorry. I was left stranded in the middle of the night with nowhere to go. Every hotel in the area was sold out. We ended up sleeping in my car. To make matters worse, I was in town because my father had just passed away. This was not a routine trip. In a moment where even basic human empathy would have gone a long way, I was met with indifference, coldness, and irritation. Mistakes happen. But how a hotel handles it is what matters, and in this case, it was handled with a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency. If you are considering staying here, understand that even with a confirmed reservation, advance check in, and a room selected, you may still not have a room when you arrive--and if something goes wrong, you should not expect help from the staff or the manager. Completely unacceptable experience with despicable staff, especially for the Hilton brand.
