I spotted this butchers on the town's Main Street. I gawped in the window and noted to awards for their pork sausages. As I read I saw the quarter pound steak burgers.
It's a real butchers; super clean, great display of meats and plenty of banter, the places that supermarkets tried to close in much the same way they undermined the fruit and vegetables stores.
It was about 4pm on a Saturday and there was a crowd within. I only waited enough to try their meats.
I got 4 pork sausages and 2 quarter pound steak burgers - all in all £4. It was £4.04 but the friendly bloke with the norn iron fur poun will de ye sur.
First I declare the meaty, wonderful tasting steak burgers superb. We've just had them for lunch and I think they were £1.15 each.
The sausages were fine, minced pork not as much seasoning as I'd like with lamb intestine casing which is the best.
Only sorry I didn't buy more steak burgers. read more
