The technician specifically noted charging me for 45 minutes, and I have an email time stamped 45 minutes after he started work. Also, none of the paperwork notes that the initial charge includes 30 minutes of time, which further emphasizes my point about transparency. Update: Update: I previously listed the wrong dollar amounts, so I am correcting them after reviewing my invoice. I was charged $149 for the diagnostic visit plus $130 for an additional 45 minutes of labor, for a total of $292.95 with tax. After the business stated that the technician spent approximately 75 minutes diagnosing my AC, I requested their timestamped records. Their records show that at 12:38 PM I signed their Customer Acknowledgement stating that "all work has been completed," and my invoice was emailed at 12:40 PM. However, they are counting time through 12:51 PM toward the 75-minute visit based on their tracking system. I disputed the additional labor charge and requested a refund. The company refused and offered only a credit toward future service, which I declined. My concern is not that diagnostic work costs money. My concern is being charged for diagnostic labor that I do not believe is supported by the company's own records.

I called Gross Heating on Monday to have someone come out asap. I was told Wednesday morning was the soonest they could make it. I was reluctant to call another company because in the past I had a bad experience with another. The last time Gross came out, they did a great job, so I called them back and said okay to Wednesday. They said they could actually send someone out Tuesday, late in the afternoon. The technician came out and apologized, saying this job may take more time than we have today and run into a lot of overtime. So, a new appointment was set up with another tech for Wednesday morning. In a way I'm glad this happened because the new tech was excellent in every way. He had the part I needed on his truck and had everything completed at noon. While he was there, our daughter called saying you won't believe this, but my boiler stopped working and I have no heat. Gross had anticipated the tech would be at my house the entire day. I asked if we could go over to her house to take a look at her boiler. Gross said okay, so off we went. She needed a new pump motor, which luckily he also had on his truck. In conclusion, both of our heating systems were fixed in the same day and at what I feel was a reasonable price. I trust Gross Heating and wouldn't use anyone else.

The clunking coming from our master bathroom register as the duct work below it warms up, expanding and contracting but because the lower level is partially finished and drywalled, it was not an easy fix! Our builder along with original contracted HVAC guys were at our house about 6-7 times even my brother who is HVAC certified and all were never able to correct it. I decided to give up on my builder and their HVAC guy and called Jackson Hardware and Heating and Air Conditioning. Gary came out listened to me to be able to fully understand the problem, determined and heard where it was coming from. He understood the severity of it being drywalled in but said he had an idea. He took a length of pipe and pounded it into the duct work, in between the ceiling and the floor above it, creating a dent in the duct. Thus separating it slightly from the restrictions of the drywall studs and clips allowing it to expand and contract without the dreaded clunking! Its been 8 days and we have not heard a single clunk! He and his apprentice Matt dug a trench to run new wire and conduit to my garage and left my yard looking nearly like they were never there. They were careful to remove the dirt and grass in blocks that they could put back. Doug also replaced a new light fixture I bought for my garage roof, over-looking the yard for a very reasonable add-on charge. The entire project was about 65% less than the other company I brought in for a quote. Highly recommend Roman Electric, and Doug, especially!
