I paid them almost $100 for nothing more than a high-pressure sales pitch for my allegedly cracked heat exchanger, something they said would require me to get the furnace replaced immediately rather than repairing it. We had no heat and it was in the middle of a single-digit cold snap, but when the repair person originally offered to do some kind of quick fix that could get out heat working again until they could book me in for a full replacement, when I said I was going to get a 2nd opinion he chose to do nothing whatsoever except to keep uttering more dire warnings about how it was only going to get colder (it didn't). The company I called for my 2nd opinion (Sears) not only diagnosed but fixed the real issue, which was minor. Then I left a Google review pretty much stating what I've stated here, and the company immediately responded by calling me a liar. While I see they have a number of positive reviews for furnace installs, it also seems that they may have a preference for those high-dollar installs over performing less-profitable repairs. Plus, the way they immediately attack anyone who dares leave a negative review doesn't make them appear to be the most professional or ethical of companies. A good company would reach out to customers with concerns and attempt to find out how they could address the problem, but a bad one is more likely to jump to an immediate counter-attack. Summary: I would never, under any circumstances, use this company again. read more

Technician came at appointment time and got right to work. Our AC that quit working needed one part that technician replaced. Another part was needed but our repairman explained that government rules prevented his company from replacing this part in an older system. However, this technician freely gave my husband all the information needed so that we could order the needed part online. A day later our AC was back working and we were cool and comfortable. We felt that the service provided was excellent, the price charged was more than fair, and the extra information given allowed us to complete the repair in an efficient and cost-saving manner. It was a $100 and a complete waste of my time. The technician that came out had no intention of properly checking out my AC unit. It was a 45-minute sales pitch for a $10,000 total replacement system. Despite telling the tech my furnace is 97% efficient and working great. He quickly dismissed my furnace as not good. Basically, my furnace is junk. Anyway, I got a reputable company out to repair the AC for $300, which was a simple fix. All is working great now. read more

On New Years Day, 2012, our furnace "coughed".... the gas ignited, but the blower didn't turn on.... until my partner whacked it a few times with a hammer... The beast worked ever since, but got us to seriously think of finally replacing it. The furnace was probably put in sometime during the 50's... massive. I called a friend (John, at Exactremodelinginc.com) who highly recommended Affordable Heating & Air Conditioning. These guys were awesome! They had 2 guys come to tear out the old furnace, and about 2 hours later another guy showed up to pick up the pieces and haul it away. They completed the job in about 7 hours, and they even took off and replaced the exhaust from my water heater that was installed incorrectly (...um, by us).. at no additional charge.... all day working in a basement crammed with items not seen or moved in 20 years. read more

Fantastic service, both on the phone and in person and honest people! I called another place last year and was told my compressor was bad and needed another unit. Something seemed off about how quickly they made their diagnosis and since it was the end of the year I held off until this year. I decided to call affordable heating from some of the helpful yelp reviews and I'm glad I did. Tony came out the same day, diagnosed the issue and fixed it for me in about 2 hours. It costed me a fraction of what a new unit would have set me back. I took his card and plan on using them as my HVAC business going forward. A public service announcement to stay away from these folks! Had a bad experience with a repair. Spent a small fortune only to have nothing fixed. Repair man left with a wad of money with promises to fix his error the next day. The next day...... sure we'll help you if spend another $3000 with us. Tried to resolve peacefully which is not just a he said she said game. I realize we all work hard for our money and I'm doing my best to help you....a honest consumer, spend theirs wisely. Affordable Heating installed my Bryant heat & AC system 7 years ago. The quality of work was great and the price was very reasonable. I have them do an annual tuneup as well Yesterday Richard came for the system tuneup. As he was going through the gate to get to the AC unit the gate came off the hinges and fell off. Knowing that I am disabled and one of my dogs is blind Richard fixed the gate and adjusted the hinges so that the gate worked properly and my dogs would not be able to get out. What a great guy!!! After reading all the positive reviews I called Affordable to set up a repair of my heating system. I explained that my zone dampers aren't functioning and was basically told to contact someone else. The guy on the phone said to find the original installer because the dampers are buried in the walls and he didn't want to deal with that. Maybe they do good work but I'll never know. read more

I would highly recommend Affordable for any furnace or central air problems. They go out of their way to explain what they're doing and why. Last year Rich came out for a furnace problem and it turned out it only needed to be cleaned. My central air went out 2 days ago. Hotter than hot. Tony checked it out as surmised that the old thermostat 25 plus years old shorted out the fuses. He replaced my thermostat and fuses. Explained how to use and replace the fuses if this happens again but said it shouldn't with the new thermostat. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. I have been servicing my furnace with these folks now for the last 5 years. And it has been a pleasant experience except for this year. I called in again for a furnace tune up in Dec 2015 and that was completed. Soon after one of my furnaces would sporadically not start up. The technician came back and determined it was the furnace door and I was charged for the service call and the cost to fix the door switch. Within a couple weeks I had to call them back again as the problem was reoccurg. This time the technician came and determined it was the gas value. He told me he would not charge me for the service call or labor and would only charge me for the part, however I was charged upwards of 300 dollars and I find it hard to believe that the gas value would cost that much. read more
