3 of us went in to have our hair styled for a wedding for a wedding and they charged us an exorbitant amount of fees. They said it would be 4495 and they charged me $70. They charged my mother-in-law who is 83 60 $ to wash her hair my sister-in-law had an updo and they charged her $60 as well. They saw us coming and completely ripped us off. We saw the price before we went in and they just completely overcharged us out. I can't recommend them at all. Be very aware. So I was overdue for my usual appointment with Heather, but shes been super busy an d booked up! Normally I would be too afraid to try a new stylist, but she referred me to Olivia assuring me she was just as amazing! I am so glad I trusted her judgment! I met with Olivia this morning and was immediately comfortable and knew I was in good hands! She did an awesome cut and color, her personality kept me laughing the whole time! I've already done reviews in the past, but I needed to make sure everyone knew how great this salon is. I've been here a handful of times and I'm African American with the hair to match lol and really picky about my hair. The first time I had a level 2 stylist but she's no longer there. She did a great job on my hair and I was referred to Sylvia who's done my hair twice and she did amazing. I went in yesterday with hopes of seeing Sylvia but I was with Jolene who had did my makeup a while back and I didn't know she did hair too. At first I was kind of skeptical and let her know. Hopefully they weren't any hard feelings there btw. She's extremely friendly and is passionate about what she does. Extremely careful with my hair and precise about EVERYTHING!! She finished and I was like OMG my hair felt and looked GREAT! Didn't have that dreadful flatiron smell either. Total SURPRISE and I'll def be back to see her for hair and makeup. As far as shampooing and a style; along with makeup GO SEE JOLENE!! Her services are a little lower than other stylist I've been too which is a plus, for work that is just as nice if not better. Very happy to finally find a hairdresser in The Woodlands area. I was a customer of JT's in Atascocita and was happy to find a salon that I was used to in The Woodlands. I was able to book my appointment and confirm all online. I absolutely hate using the phone and find making appointments a hassle so the fact that I could not only book online but have them confirm through text message gives them major points in my book. My appointment was with James on a Saturday morning. The salon was quiet which was perfect for me. We talked about what to do with my hair that was a mess and hadn't seen scissors in over a year. The hair wash and conditioning were very relaxing. They have a separate room for that and large flat-screens have soothing nature sounds and scenes on them. Once that was over ... so sad ... it was also relaxing to lose almost 10 inches of my hair. Cut and blow-dried I was ready to go with some product recommendations. But not pushy recommendations, just suggestions since they were having a very good sale. My hair came out perfect, just what I wanted and it only cost $55. The only negative I have has nothing to do with the salon but with its location. Taking a left out of the plaza was kind of a nightmare. The worst place ever. Just had my haircut there by their 5 stars stylist. This was my second time first time haircut was alright but I have difficult hair with cowlicks in some areas. So I thought let me give it another try sometimes it takes the stylist twice to learn my hair. I was dealing with a 5 stars stylist with lots of training. The second time was a disaster result hair to short and flips up in the back. She had no idea how to cut my type of hair. Now I have to find someone to fix it or let grow out I was satisfied for years my former style moved to west coast. Now it trial and error the amount of money they charge means nothing. The work of the stylist at J Thompson in The Woodlands was simply unacceptable. The hair cut I was charged for was more like a snip, snip trim--hardly a hair cut! The color was simply awful. I'll spare you the details. Plan to spend the afternoon--my services took way too long, partially due to repeated attempts to fix the color. (May not be true of all stylists in the salon) Atmosphere: B+ Very retail oriented. Cleanliness--A Bathrooms were spotless. My experience with Kimber at this salon was excellent. She listened to my description of my problem hair and asked questions for better understanding. I have very fine, thin hair as a result of chemo treatments. Although this was my first appointment with her, I felt confident letting her trim and color my hair. Honestly, my first experience at the salon was bad. But it was resolved quite nicely. It is clear to me that the first woman that cut my hair was not properly trained on the style I wanted, and seemed to have little experience overall. It took nearly 2 hours and it came out very uneven, and way shorter than what I wanted. (At least she asked for help at one point, which I thought was cool and brave and un-egotistical, but when the scissors were handed back to her, I just wanted to leave.) :-( However, I called back when I got home and asked for "repairs" by a different stylist, and I was immediately provided another appointment the very next morning, before they open. I thought that was very considerate. The second stylist I had (Jessica) did an amazing job cleaning up, evening it out, and making my way-shorter-than-normal haircut look good. She even offered free trims (to keep it evened out in the back) until it got to the length I liked. So, if i would have not made that call and gone back in, I would have rated this place very low. But because they accepted their faults and made it better, I would likely recommend this salon. Just make sure you ask how much experience the stylist has before you go. I decided to try out J Thompson Salons when my original hair dresser could not do my hair the day I needed her too. I called J Thompson to see if they could do ombre on my dark brown hair, I told them I wanted the lowest level ladie due to prices. The salon said ok we will stick you with so and so and she can do it. I got there we had a consultation, I understand they want to make sure you get what you ask for but a hour and half consultation was not needed. After she was done the ombre turned out great i thought. I went home and not even a week later my blonde ombre started turning orange. Not only that but it also took about 4 hours just to do the ombre. I told my self i was never going back. Well 6 months later I needed my hair died dark brown again because my original hair dresser died it blonde and I was just tired of it being blonde I wanted to go back dark. I decided to try J Thompson Salons again thinking maybe I just had a bad lady or whatever I atleast needed to give it another try. I called and wanted the lowest ladie again due to prices. They said she was a "Rising Star" I asked them if she would do a good job because last time my hair was ugly. They said of course everyone here knows what their doing. I trusted their word. I made an appt. I got there and once again we had and 1 and a half consulation which was not needed because i just wanted my hair dark brown. She made me pick out my brown and then said well its gonna be between these colors, So i dont know why i even picked out my color. It took her 3 hours just to die my hair dark and then at the end she told me my blonde may come through. 3 days later my blonde was starting to come through so I went back for her to redue it. 2 hours later she was doe redyeing my hair dark brown again. I left about a week later my blonde came through again. If you don't know how to die hair don't work at a salon or maybe the salon should just get new workers. I am so disapointed in this place. I WILL NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMENED THEM! read more

I was new to the area and excited to find a Salon so close to home. Had a very experienced Stylist. I had a picture of the style I wanted with me. The cut was good but the color was not what I asked for. I was there at the Salon for over 5 hours. I felt it was very expensive and my hair is barely shoulder length. The Stylist said, "When you come back, ask for a partial, that's all you'll need". I came back 2 1/2 months later and had scheduled a partial color and just to have the ends trimmed. . I figured it would be a lot less expensive since I was getting a partial color and a trim... BUT NO, it was actually more than the first appointment! I was charged for a full color and another cut! I was told that the charge is the same whether you have a cut or a trim. I was charged for long hair when my hair is barely shoulder length ... I will not go back! read more
