"Hooked on Clean"…read more This restroom was so fresh it felt like I had walked into an Irish Spring commercial starring a janitor with dreams. The scent was somewhere between minty freedom and a mountain waterfall -- if that waterfall also knew how to disinfect surfaces. Toilet? Spotless. Soap? Present and accounted for. Hot water? Oh yes, hot enough to make germs rethink their life choices. The floor wasn't sticky -- which in gas station terms is equivalent to finding a four-leaf clover riding a unicorn. And the door lock? It actually worked. I didn't have to do the hover-hold-while-squatting-and-eyeing-the-door move. But the real cherry on top? A motivational catfish etched into the mirror, well scratched in with a key. This fish was permanent and inspirational. Just a majestic bottom-feeder staring into my soul, probably whispering, "Keep swimming. You've got this." Knocked off one star because I didn't expect to get emotionally supported by aquatic wildlife in a restroom and now I'm rethinking my life goals.

We ordered the double cheese burger (comes with meat chili, onions, cheese and mustard) and one double hamburger with lettuce tomato onion. The double burgers were 1/2 pound. We also ordered some house made coleslaw. We sat at the one booth and we served very quickly. Our burgers were really good, the burger itself tasted good. The coleslaw was also a big win. We had 2 double burgers, coleslaws and 2 fountain drinks for 22$, great value and great taste. It is a true locals place run by a family. The family pictures on the wall and everyone coming in seems to know the staff. They have a drive through which also keeps them busy. It is not a fancy place but has a family lunch counter vibe. Well worth our detour off the interstate.

I've also heard from many different parties that Royal Farms has the best fried chicken, but I'm afraid to go in to try it. When they opened their shiny new location in Wilson, it brought excitement to the area that has since been duplicated by newer gas stations in the area. However, the cleanliness on the outside has declined rapidly in just a few short years. So going back to the famous fried chicken - if the outside of the business is an indicator of what's on the inside... well, I'll stick to just pumping gas.
