Technicians are very helpful, but it would be nice to have more transparency before the appointment. I asked for general pricing guidelines for a specific job and was told we haven't seen your machine. Fair, but knowing that the minimum price for a service call is $258 would be a fair thing to be told over the phone, especially in this economy. It took one minute for the tech to tell me that when the person on the phone wouldn't or couldn't. I previously had them fix my ice machine and it broke again and twice ended up just buying new appliances after they came because the cost of fixing them was almost as much as getting new machines. We were in need of Refrigerator repair! We had used J S in the past without complaint. We have a very old GE refrigerator that apparently needed a new part. I called this morning at 9am and within 15 minutes a technician was assigned to us. Jeff came at the time designated with the part needed to repair our refrigerator. Jeff was friendly, knowledgeable and completed the job without hesitation. He even vacuumed behind the fridge. The service from JS Repair was 5+++. I called last week with my oven not working & in a panic. Shawn was very, very calming & went thru steps with me & figured out the problem. He then ordered the part & thankfully squeezed me into their busy schedule so I could have my oven up & running over the Thanksgiving weekend. I'm ever so grateful. Contracted J&S Appliance to repair a control knob on my GE Profile Range, repair tech provided an estimate and informed me a part needed ordering. I approved the estimate and scheduled the repair. At NO time was I informed that the repair couldn't be done, or that there was a risk of damaging the range. The tech returned with the part and repaired the knob, in the process of re-assembling the range, a gasket between the glass top and the control panel was damaged. The tech "tried" to replace the gasket with a beed of silicone! Im now left with a damaged Range with melted silicone which J&S claims they can't repair, and suggested I have GE repair at my own cost. The level of incompetence is shocking. Avoid these people like the plague, not only are they incompetent, they're not interested in repairing your appliance to your satisfaction! Call ANYBODY else read more

Called for a dishwasher repair and I was told that the repairman would call at 9AM and give me a 2-hour window which he did. It's a $129 just to show up. He came and after about 20 minutes he diagnosed the problem but didn't have the part so he would reschedule in 2 or 3 days. The office called me to tell me the part was in and we rescheduled, same deal I would receive a call @9AM and be given a 2-hour window. No one called so I called them at 10. I was put on hold and a gentlemen picked up and said 12-2 PM. At 2:30 I received a call that the repairman was leaving Medford on his way. He arrived at 3:50 and repaired the dishwasher door, the bill was $349. The repairman was pleasant and seemed competent, but it seemed like a lot of money for what was a total of 45 minutes. read more

Had major problems with ge frig/freezer first repair guy says they don't do that model as it is made by Samsung not GE Called JS and they said they would call at 9 am and give me arrival time, they called right on time and gave me a time frame if 2 hours. They arrived on the dot. Guy was great and checked every thing. Felt all was well. Just charged service call. Well the freezer would not come up to temp so we called again. Came right on time well he worked so hard and had to replace a sensor. All is perfect and they deducted prior service charge. Perfect service!! read more

Called this company to repair my Bosch dishwasher and once done the repairman Mike did not check his work as he touched my supply valve while here , so he packed up and was unable to see that it was leaking quickly since he did not check throughly. It leaked for hours and ran underneath my new floor . They did not return my phone message next day so I had to call again and then sent the same man over to basically tell me , he's not a plumber and he did his job . If he's not a plumber then he should not be touching pipes and valves . I asked to speak with the owner, and once he got on the phone with me, he refused to take responsibility for anything that happened here in my home and told me to call my homeowners insurance even though he is licensed and insured. He was extremely rude and had an awful tone with me while discussing the situation. I wound up having to have my entire new kitchen floor pulled up and dehumidifiers and fans ran for 4 days to dry up JS's mess . I'm now waiting on homeowners adjusters and JS has not done anything but take my $ with not even an offer or an apology. Stay clear of this company . 2 of my friends had advised me too late sadly that they would have said to use someone else as they felt their work had gone downhill . Was unable to repair machine, so they only charged me for the diagnosis, which was fair since he was there for an hour and a half, and gave me a recommendation on what to get as a replacement and where to get the best price. Over the years my family has had the need of the services of an appliance repair company and as usual it has been in the type of tough economic times we all find ourselves in today (12-03-10). Our experience has been, that we were more than satisfied with JS Appliances, although it might have hurt at decision time. Do we fix or do we buy new? Most of the time it comes down to that of a weighted risk of estimated cost (of repair vs. new?) to possible value (of used vs. new?), and of course your expendable money available at that time. Everyone wants to hear that your appliances will be better then new, after they have the replacement parts, but that's just not the way life works. It has been my experience that after an initial diagnosis, that JS Appliance will give you the news, good or bad, with their experience and integrity, and you will make a decision based upon the total circumstances before you. J &S...l used several times. We are good customers..NO MORE! Owner Jeff comes to fix gas range lower oven igniter. He takes out cookie sheets that were touching and shorting out igniter. All Fixed. He tells us this is very common. HE KNEW THIS AND COULD HAVE TOLD TO TRY THIS OVER THE PHONE. No, he charges us $90 for this 5 second visit. My freezer was iced over the ice maker wasn't working. They came right away, he said a gasket needed replacing and then he said the ice maker needed replacing. He was going to order the part and come back and replace it. My daughter noticed that he had turned the ice maker off. She flipped the switch on and Voila` it worked. I called them and told them I didn't need the ice maker part. He was annoyed that she had turned it on. So I would have paid $600 for a part I didn't need. Never again!! read more

I used this company to service my Sub-Zero refrigerator for 10 years but won't ever again. After the power outage this month, I found that they had been charging me 2-3 times what the authorized Sub-Zero repair company does and in 2011 they replaced my freezer compressor with a refrigerator compressor. That explains why I was always having to call them to service the freezer that wasn't cold enough to keep ice cream solid in summer. The compressor they installed for $1300 failed after the power outage. They quoted me $2,200 to replace it. When I thought that was high, I called the authorized Sub-Zero rep, High-End Appliance. They quoted me $800 and said they could be at my home in 4 days. After Jeff from JS left, I also began having issues with the refrigerator not being cold enough. Joe from High-End discovered that a wire to the fan that keeps the refrigerator cold had been disconnected! Since Joe replaced the compressor and reconnected the wire, my Sub-Zero is doing great! read more

I needed the control panel replaced, $313.00. When I went to use the stove I saw the part which was replaced was scratched in 3 places, very noticeable and the outside metal part of my stove was scratched. The serviceman did not tell me he had scratched the stove before he left my home. I called and spoke to Jeff and he said it's a hard piece to replace but would only pay half the cost. I thought the situation was handled improperly by the owner of the business. I had spoken to a woman when I first called and when Jeff called me back he had not spoken to his serviceman about my complaint and his serviceman had not told him what happened with the stove. Decided to call JS Appliance. I am very happy I did. Technician found water filter was not properly installed. It was not the $250 part a&e wanted to charge me. J&s recieves 1 star because I can't give a lower rating. I had a dryer that stopped working and had them come take a look. Between the service call and parts he said I needed etc... The total came to 250 dollars. I explained to the man that I only paid 400 for the dryer to begin with. And wasn't sure if it was a good idea. After getting the whole "with the brand new parts everything will be fine" etc... Speech I took him at his word. Needless to say the exact same problem began occurring after just five months. I called back and of course they offer a terrible 90 day warranty which I was past. So it was another 70 bucks to have the guy come back and then whatever it cost for the job etc... Of course when I call i am spoken to in a rude manner by a woman who continuously exaggerated the amount of time that had lapsed since I had the work done. Apparently from the last couple day of August to the beginning of February is "sir you have the job done 6,7,8 months ago?" Really? I don't know how much I can advise you stay away. Lots of reputable companies out there who treat people like people. Find one of them. I will place this review anywhere I can find relevant to try to make sure other people don't make my mistake read more
