Sadly, I ended up losing that ring in 2023. Fast forward to Spring of 2024- my husband surprised me with the EXACT same ring (just a bigger diamond)! He reached out to Sami's, who contacted the maker of the ring, and it turns out they were able to re-create the design. Sami's went above and beyond for us and I am extremely grateful. Then the gentlemen continued by saying "we put a new silver clasp on".. I stopped him and said it was "White Gold". He didnt seem to believe me and checked with his loop, confirming its gold. Then said, oh that will be $275. I said for what? He said clasp and labor. Labor? What labor, its crimping/clamping on a new clasp. 2 min of work? Anyway, I was out. I say this, because these little interactions drive future purchase decisions. Maybe I am in the market for another Rolex, ring,chain,etc. This place could be on or off the list. So every interaction with potential customers is a way to secure future relationships. There are places we still drive to from Scottsdale to Gilbert,etc just because of the service. Update: I was able to get some additional quotes from local jewelers. One came in higher (must have seen my car) and others came in lower. Went with another highly rated jeweler for a much lower cost. In terms of the owner's response: Assuming the labor for gold vs silver clasp: if silveris $75 all in and we are only swapping out the material: how do we get to a $200 difference. Is silver $25 material and $50 labor? Therefore gold is $200 more? Retail price on identical clasp is $100. So the math does not math. But I get it, each merchant can set their own prices. Like I said one place actually quoted a higher $. So I will politely increase my review a star.
