I've had them do some decent work over the years, but they definitely employ some subpar dudes. Over a year ago, they did some work at my house. One of my toilets that was occasionally running was on the agenda. The plumber took a look at it and said, "Ugh. How attached are you to this toilet? They're annoying to work on," and simply refused to work on it. Well, I wasn't going to replace an entire toilet for such a trivial thing, so I waited. But after a year, it was running more frequently. I had another Ridgefield plumber come out, and they fixed it within the week. I say the week because they did have to order a part that was not common size. So Mulvaney may be good depending on who you get, but they apparently employ some lazy fellas. Be warned. read more

We called them while we were away because our cleaning lady called us and said the bathtub was backing up. They came while our dog sitters were home and changed the gray water pump, did they ask us? NO. Did anyone give us an estimate? NO Did they call to say what the problem was before changing it? Consult with us? NO Bill:$2400. I was angry but still paid the invoice. Today our bathtub is backing up again after 2 weeks, just as before exactly the same way. How is it fair? Where is the broken pump you claimed that was broken? This was not an ethical way of doing business from the beginning but I let it go because I didn't want the stress during holidays but now Im extremely angry and make sure everyone knows how you screw your customers. read more

We were charged for the time the plumber drove, while we was at my house chatting me up--saying in appropriate things that made me uncomfortable--and then offering to dig a hole I said I could dig. All the while, $85 an hour no matter what they did. Pretty sure we also got charged for when I scheduled the appointment. That's a joke, but possibly not unrealistic. After simple PVC work was completed, two toilet valves immediately clogged due to their failure to follow plumbing-101 basics and remove the chaff created by saw cuts. Additionally, they failed to chamfer the pipe ends before assembly. I made the subsequent toilet repairs myself and asked them to adjust the price. They were polite on the phone but have made no gesture toward making this right. Based on this experience, I would not trust them with even the most basic plumbing job. read more

Very satisfied customers!!! We had shut-off valves that were corroded and needed to be changed in addition to a replacement pipe for our water tank. The gentleman, Dimitri, that came to our house was prompt, courteous, professional, and very knowledgeable. He explained what needed to be done and showed us as he explained everything. It was so refreshing to be talking to someone that understood our lack of knowledge with our plumbing needs! After explaining the process and giving us an estimate for repairs, he proceeded to do the work in a timely manner. The one star should actually be negative stars. For the life of me, I can't figure out how this company gets jobs after an initial visit from the owner. This guy is arrogant and condescending with an enormous can't-be-bothered attitude. He talked at me and down to me. My sense was he was looking to pick a fight - whether it was an argument or a physical confrontation. It was very uncomfortable and grossly unprofessional. I was charged $268 for bathroom cartridges and assorted equipment that I could buy retail in a hardware store for $110. But the last straw was the $9.10 for lubricant for screws and I saw it was a used package and since I paid the full price he did not even leave it. I echo all the previous reviews that this company over charging a lot! The plumber spent 1.5 hours filling air into our water tank and replacing the shut-off valve. Then spent a long time in his car to generate the invoice and quota for replacing the water tank. I told him I can call office to get quota. But he insisted in doing that. After he got my credit card information and gave me the quota verbally, he left my house and it was a little bit 2 hours short since he came. But he stayed in the car for a long time before drove away. We were charged 2.5 hours for his work. The office told me that the GPS showed that the time he arrived and left my driveway was 10 minutes more than 2 hours so he charged me 2.5 hours. But he finished his work in 1.5 hours. I had no control of him staying in the car on our driveway to do his other things instead of working for us. I will definitely not work and recommend this company! read more

Knowing that my family has used Mulvaney plumbing since the beginning of time, I was pleased to be able to use them when I returned to town. Had some small repairs done earlier this month. Brandy in the office made it easy; she reviewed the products needed and set up an appointment in a timely manner. It was wonderful. The gentleman Dave who came out did a fine job. However that is just the beginning of the story. I happened to experience a significant pipe burst, and Andy Mulvaney came out providing an incredible job. He defined expertise, what it is to solve a problem and also take charge to help me in a time of great need. I really can't thank him enough. His knowledge and expertise made a very distressing situation somewhat easier to bear. On top of that the next day Brandy called me again to check in on me and see how I was doing. Additionally Andy has stayed in touch as he was concerned for the property and me. They were prompt, knew exactly what to do, didn't waste time, cleaned up after themselves, and handed me a bill that I felt was reasonable. I would recommend them. I used other plumbers (name withheld) who didn't know what they were doing, were as slow as snails.They told me they would finish in 10 min., (I had a meeting and my eldest son stayed with them) and billed me for two more hours (they left in 10 min.). We had our well pump go on a Sunday afternoon with 2 sick kids. They came out promptly to evaluate around 5pm and by Monday 10am they were done. Good quality. Local company, family owned and operated. Really appreciated their honesty. After pulling the defective pump, they told me that if I went with the original installer that I would be able to get the pump under warranty and that they would stop working if I asked them to. They told me the price difference and said that they would understand. I value honesty and quality work more than money as life has taught me you get what you pay for. I asked that they finish the job as I felt integrity these days should be rewarded No, it wasn't cheap, but we got an upgraded pump with good service. I would never use this company again. Last year we had an old overmount sink de-installed (1 plumber) and then a new undermount sink installed (another plumber). When it came to installing the faucet we were told he could not install it because it was not meant for use on granite. I had to go on the internet to get a picture with directions (this job $500+). I then contacted them to fix an outdoor faucet that was no longer working. The plumber (yet another) had to cut the sheetrock in the garage but failed to clean up after himself. The faucet worked fine last year (this job $200+). But due to a faulty installation (not tilted correctly and no guard) the pipe froze. When I contacted them last week I was told I would have to pay for another faucet plus time. I asked for the owner to call me. I never received a call. I called another local plumbing company and they came out and fixed it. I only gave them 1 star since I had to pick at least one. read more

We had a fire drill issue with our master bathroom, and upon calling Mulvaney Plumbing they were over almost instantly on a Saturday. We used Mulvaney plumbing to repair a leaking urinal valve in July 2012. They charged us $177.00 and it started leaking again last week, January 12, 2013. "warranty" is only good for 30 days!!
