Recently instead of asking "You have rewards points, do you want to use them?" they started saying "Do you want a FREE snack/item?" and giving you a very small selection of items to choose. I chose a gummy worth 7$ and they used my 5$ in rewards without even asking and $2 of my money. I went back to ask what happened, but the employee just smirked and acted like he didn't care and told me "well the DM told me to say that". Another employee overheard, so i asked her about it. She agreed they were supposed to phrase it that way and not let us know we were using our stored points or our own money. The original employee I talked to said "I asked you if you wanted to use your rewards points on a snack and you said yes." and I immediately said "No you said 'do you want a FREE snack' then charged me for it." I understand they 'have to say these things' but he acted like I was insane and so did the other employee. I went home disappointed in this franchise I thought I trusted. I used to visit all the time, but since moving out of state it is a bit tougher to make the trip. Still, I wanted to check out their used Nikon gear and see what was new. It does seem like they don't have quite as much used inventory as they used to. That said, being able to actually test the lenses in person is still a huge advantage. It's one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I tried out a used 50-150mm, but it was focusing a little slower than I needed. The 180mm lens I tried ended up being on the soft side, not as crisp as I was hoping for, and the 200mm 4f was surprisingly quick in focusing. If I wasn't planning on using this lens in low light situations, it would have been a great find at the price, and that's exactly why trying things in-store matters. The awesome guy who helped me out was great. Super knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely tried to find something that would work for me. He even checked the back to see if they had anything else tucked away. I didn't end up buying anything this time, but the customer service and the conversations is what always brings me back. *Now in German for all the world travelers* Das letzte Mal als ich in Washington war, bin ich natürlich bei Kenmore Camera in Kenmore vorbeigegangen. Der Typ, der mir geholfen hat, war einfach toll. Total kompetent, mega geduldig, und er hat wirklich versucht, irgendwas zu finden, das für mich passt. Er hat sogar hinten im Lager noch mal geschaut, ob da noch irgendwas rumliegt. Gekauft habe ich diesmal zwar nichts, aber der Service und die netten Gespräche sind genau das, was mich jedes Mal wieder zurückzieht.

I ended up selecting one quart with my inspiration being the cap of the bottle matching the color of my car. Payment was straightforward and went without a hiccup. Well over that 20-year time period I can probably count on one hand how many times I walked out of there with something worthwhile. For one thing the store is always in a fair amount of disarray. The racks are overcrowded. Too many items where they just have one or two things and it's really hard to find what you want in your size. A lot of stuff on the floor and if you do find something you love you have to wonder if it was stepped on or rolled over by a cart at some point. The prices probably are more reasonable if you do find something but you really got to dig. The thing that really burns my hide is the line. It's been long often in the past but it could be worthwhile if you found something. This most recent time I went the line was ridiculous. I would guess there was 35 or 40 people in line and three cashiers. The people were lined up all the way to the dressing room. I expect this if I go in Ross or the Goodwill. Not Nordstrom rack. Never again. But I want to give credit where credit is due, the cashiers despite the crushing workload where personable and did not display any stress despite the obvious frustration of everyone staring at them doing their job.
