Dr. Mertz sets his patients at ease. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, offers prevention advice, and has a very proficient practice. The paperwork that is shared with the patient is modern and easy to follow. The admin help visibly work off the options of the health insurance I am using. The low waiting times with the waiting room and exam room have been impressive versus what I read of elsewhere. The overall operation is set up to run efficiently, which is too rare in the healthcare industry. The waiting area is large, clean and well-kept. Luckily I found Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi and was accepted as a new patient. That was about six months ago. Both my wife and I switched to Dr. Mertz. Dr. Mertz is fantastic. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, and has a very proficient practice. Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Mertz several times since becoming his patients and every time we only spent five to ten minutes in the waiting room and only a couple minutes in the exam room before Dr. Mertz came in. I only wish I had found Dr. Mertz when I retired to Corpus Christi in 2005. My life would have been much better from a medical standpoint. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention his staff and the waiting area. His staff is wonderful in every regard. And the waiting area is large and clean. This time I had one ventral hernia that had been repaired twice before and two inguinal hernia's that were very painful. He was genuinely concerned before surgery since I had an umbilical hernia surgery in 2003 and recalled mesh was used which broke and punctured my upper and lower bowels. That one turned into nine total surgeries to get it right, so I have been in surgery hell. He did mine robotically and had to use five incisions to do it correctly. The day after surgery and for about four days total the pain was the worst that I have ever had BUT the surgery took almost five hours and involved a lot of adhesion and other growth removal just so that he could sew in the mesh. It is now day eight and I feel much better and I know that he did the best that he could do. I saw absolutely zero racism because I am white which was mentioned by another negative reviewer. I am also a veteran and we all know that the VA never pays the total bill and that had zero bearing on my treatment. All of these negative reviews with problems are more to blame on the reviewers and not Surgery Associates. I highly recommend Dr Michael Reyes !!!

Because there were no appointments at Spohn South until August for an upper GI, I had it done at DeTar Navarro in Victoria on May 18. Since then I have waited for a call concerning having an endoscopy with Dr Martin. I have called numerous times only to be sent to voice mail boxes that are full. I finally spoke with Jared a couple of weeks ago and he said my referral was expired. Could I come in for another apartment. I said no, and he promised to speak to Dr Martin and get back to me. That to me was a big plus and reassured me of making the right decision as choosing him as my primary care physician. He younger than me but real down to earth and very friendly, made me feel comfortable coming in for a checkup unlike others I seen. Staff is real friendly and helpful and his PA's are top notch as well. Here lately I been seen by the PA's but I still feel at ease coming in here.
