Then came back to "fix" what they'd neglected to do (their bad) and charged another $150 for a 30 min visit which they claimed was from a faulty part in the water heater which they also claimed we would need to replace within a year. They say that we were lucky the water heater lasted us 16 yrs when most only last 10-12 years. Really? Is that why the water heater at the house we lived in before lasted 50 years+ without ever needing to be replaced? Guess we were just "lucky"--maybe this is a sign that I should play the lottery. He had a very tenuous relationship with the truth as he said he checked the water and the heat worked on his first visit which was a load of BS because he never did. Then this time there wasn't warm water and he even said we'd need to run the water for 20-30 mins for the heat to kick in bc the water heater was big. Funny, I don't seem to recall him running the water for more than 30 seconds on his first visit--all he confirmed then was that the pressure was stronger than before!

I also have been struggling with the toilet tank "guts" thanks to Martinsburg's hard water. I'd bought a new faucet and parts for the toilet, but after watching YT and assessing my space and my own abilities...chose to hire someone. Mark of Mountain View Plumbing gave me a quote based on labor/time for each of these. He's the owner/operator...something I like to support when I can. We scheduled for 9am, he called as he was arriving EARLY! Two hours and both problems fixed with parts I had bought to do it myself. He even fixed my tub/shower diverter stem I was starting to have issues with. We discussed a few hacks to get some more life out of the toilet as hard water is doing what it does. I then asked about my kitchen sink/drain and he verified that I can get RO and a disposal into that space. Now I just need to budget! As for his hourly rate, it is totally fine for skilled and licensed labor. He didn't nickel and dime for the little things he used (tape, etc). I appreciate that. I also know as a former business owner, he's covering travel costs, insurances, taxes, etc. with that rate. I will be using him for more projects as my own budget permits.

We were overcharged for a WH install but sucked it up. Heater was supposed to have 10yr…read morewarranty...it did not. Stopped working only to find intake line was very bent, leaking onto the top and side likely for some time...finished crawlspace warm but no longer dry. Line replaced with a correct length, cleanup in process, but still no hot water. Called, only to have the secretary repeated tell me they won"t come to look at it without payment for the look see!!! Truck/train traffic likely caused vibration over the 6 years to cause the bent line on the improper install to fail. we now have to have the electrical components reviewed/ replaced (tank itself OK) or just install a whole new system. First sentence mention the word suck...so yeah..they suck. We're both retired and disabled as well so their attitude towards their own shoddy work is extra special.
