I recently went to this J. Crew and asked the sales person on the floor to hold a sweater for a few hours. They told me where to pick up the sweater when I returned, and when I returned and told the person at the counter my name, they knew where the sweater was being stored. It just took a few minutes. I was impressed that they are so organized and the staff is on the same page about the procedure to follow when a customer asks to hold an item. read more

I love this location! That staff is wonderful and chatty! A high bonus that they have a crewcuts section so that I can get shopping for me and my littles done at the same time! I like that they offer in store pick up for online purchases so I don't have all my stuff sent to work or left unattended at my front door! The store often times have better promotional sales than online and the sales rack has great finds if you get there early! It's laid out nicely and easy to navigate even with a stroller (that's pretty high in my priority list these days) and I get great style ideas from from the forms! Went back to make the purchase and the suit was still on hold for me, despite being well past the 24-hour mark. One point. Tried everything on again just to be sure and a new salesperson suggested maybe getting the petite in a size up to compare. Problem, they don't carry petites and I need the suit for an interview on Tuesday. No problem. She calls the warehouse or whatever and they have it in stock (so THAT'S what that red batman phone is for), we can add it to my order on the spot AND they'll ship it for free. One point. As she's on the phone with internetshopping/warehouse or whatever I'm looking at all of the random pamphlets they have near the register and I see that they offer a 15% college student discount with a valid ID. I ask if this includes graduate students. It does. One point. Bonus, they will also apply the college discount to my internet/warehouse purchase. Clearly retail times are tough and they need to get people in the shop and making purchases... but hey. I'll take it. And hurray for student discounts! And not just sort of token 5% discounts either.. but for reals discounts. Makes me feel (marginally) better about spending so much money. Or something. read more

Environment: Great environment. Easy to navigate, very spacious; easy to find exactly what you are looking for since everything is pretty organized and well compartmentalized as well. Inside the liberty mall shops but still accessible down Chestnut street on the outside. Service: Not the greatest; not the great greeting through the door but the workers who are working around the clothing sections (folding, etc.) are very kind and don't hesitate to seek to assist you immediately. Price: Average J-Crew prices that can be some-what expensive; however, you can never complain about students getting a 10% student discount with their ID cards. Great for a "better" piece of clothing for a more affordable price. read more

Now that I am not in college anymore (ahem!), my J. Crew days are a bit behind me. That said I did come into this branch of J. Crew (below liberty place - on Chestnut) and bought 2 fabulous T-shirts. Yes, I said Fab & T in the same breath. These were not any ordinary T-shirts, these were "Tissue" T-shirts - and they were super-light weight (yet not see-thru - thank g-d!) and soft and kinda like tissue papery. Weird - but great. I wear them only in the sweltering heat of the summer - when a "normal" T shirt is even too hot. Good job, J. Crew! I love those "Tissue T Shirts". read more

Having read the Yelp reviews first, I expected hands-off service. That definitely wasn't the case. One of the floor associates was quite attentive, with practical help. "Don't forget the sales area in the back." I have never shopped in J Crew, despite attending a college listed in the Preppie Handbook. Someone got me a gift and I was doing an exchange.They had a tasteful selection of clothes and the price tag wasn't completely gasp-inducing. Some of the less expensive ($48) shirts seemed a bit cheap looking. And I think this fashion of rolled up sleeves on the rack has to go. Why would I buy my shirts pre-wrinkled? I can do that on my own. The service was so exceptional, I was glided to a fitting room while the floor guy (his name was Jerrel I think) picked up an extra size because he thought I chose the wrong size pant. He was right and the smaller size (I guess they do vanity sizing) fit great. As a devotee of Express, I can see this being a possible second option as the prices are comparable. And the stores are both in Liberty Place. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. My decades of stereotyping were proved wrong. And Jerrel (hope I didn't butcher his name) deserves a huge amount of credit for me changing my attitude. read more

I love J.Crew style and fabrics. It's one of my favorite brads to wear. I like to come to the store for deals that I can't find online, especially in jewelery. Also, store is located in a very convenient location. Customer service in general it's nice, particularly, Kat. She always notifies you when there's a sale going on and if sale is final- very important. Plus, she'll start a room for you in case you're holding too many clothes in your hands. I wish I could have given 4 Yelps to this review but I didn't want to do so as the fitting rooms are usually very dirty. I never understood why they leave them like that since this is a brand name store, expensive, and in one of the best buildings in the city. Maybe, a cleaning personnel should be hired. I was not really a JCrew shopper until I visited this store and had a chance to meet Catriona. She was really lovely, happy, knew her stuff/ where everything was in the store and instantly was able to point out pieces that would really work for me. I'm super tall at 6' so shopping is not my favorite thing as clothes are hard to find due to the fit. After purchasing what is now one of my most favorite outfits; I found out she was a personal stylist..and I was invited back to work one on one with her. She is brilliant at styling clothes and mixing in great pieces. This is her gift and it is magical in the way it makes me feel about my style and closet. I now have an amazing new fall wardrobe of incredible pieces to wear to work and out to dinners, brunch etc. Catriona takes the time to educate and show options and modification to staple pieces. I travel a lot so having pieces to mix up is important to me. I also have great new colors to mix into my closet of black. I have never had my own personal stylist and feel so grateful for Catriona and JCrew for offering this very valuable service at no extra charge. read more

Although I'm sure many would profess otherwise, I must say it can be downright flattering to be a target demographic. Case in point for me is J.Crew. In my last 10 visits to the store, I've heard orange juice, morrissey, belle and sebastian, built to spill, camera obscura, pheonix, the pains of being pure at heart, beat happening,and (gasp) camper van beethoven through the store speakers. It's like a love story. They know me. They want me. And I can't help it. I want them too. Besides having the soundtrack right, they have long ago branched out from the conservative archetype customer base of their beginnings into purveyors of mid-priced, hip classics. Of course they still make everything the conservative might need for their upcoming polo match, but now you will also see admirers of Francoise Hardy or James Dean flocking to the store to stock up. I've been to this particular store location a few times, and every time I've gone, the sales staff has been very helpful and friendly. I do not think it is a flagship store, but it is rather large with an impressive stock. I do recommend it if you have a penchant for style that transcends trends. read more

I have been a loyal customer of J. Crew since high school. Back when I lived in NC, I had to order online most of the time or travel to Raleigh to get my clothes. I'm so thankful that we conveniently have a store at Liberty Place. The staff here are always so welcoming and helpful, they really go above and beyond in finding the right size and will even put you on the phone to sort it out with their catalog specialist. The only thing about J. Crew that I have really noticed to be a downfall is that the price has significantly jumped. I know prices go up but certain items like a white, plain t-shirt should not cost that much. I do usually still get all my Polo's and dress shirts from here because they fit and are made well. I know I will continue to be a fan. read more

Let me start off with saying I'm a fan of Jcrew. Reasons why this place gets 2 stars: 1. Closed for private party? Really? Nothing mentioned on the website either. 2. I was trying to find mens gloves as a gift...no luck :( 3. Store associate told me to mention his name when purchasing. (What is this a car dealership? LET ME SHOP peacefully!) I love J Crew, as a brand, this store however is always a challenge for me. As someone who works in sales at a retail store, I understand that people have bad days, that sometimes you get overwhelmed and can not help everyone, but here it seems that most of associates have no excuse other than they are just rude. Glen, Ira, and a small handful of the female staff are extremely helpful, however you have to hit at the right time to find them. On my last shopping trip there I went in looking for a pair of shorts, pretty general, I found a pair I loved. The only problem was there was only one pair and I didn't know if there were more somewhere, after having to block the sales girl from glaring at me while walking past I was informed that "no, there are not" and then was given a huff like I interrupted her life with such a stupid question. My time before this was after excellent customer service from Glen, I was still on the fence with my purchase so I put it on hold to think it over. When I went back to purchase the item I mentioned I had a student id for the 15% student discount Ira had so enthusiastically told me about, apparently saying this was equivalent to punching her, her smile faded and she fake smiled and used no effort to hide her annoyance. I know retail is hard, and sales are not for everyone, but at a store where they promote the knowledge and helpful of your staff, you may want to spend a few more minutes in the screening process. read more

Every time I go in here I appreciate the staff informing me about the current promotions and / or sales going on. But following me around the store like I am a thief is ridiculous! constantly asking me if I need help almost 10times in 10mins is abit annoying. I like to browse and if I have a question I will ask. It would be nice if the sales'LADY' (the one particular one ) would stop following me around the whole store and having her constantly stare at me is not very nice. J Crew's stuff is hit-or-miss, like most clothing these days (anyone else notice that three pairs of the same brand and style of pants fit completely differently?), so that's not the fault of the store or the staff. This particular store, however, seems to have a small selection of women's clothing most of the time (when compared to the selection in the men's section or at other Crew stores). The staff, hm, well, with the exception of one exceptional staff member (I wish I knew her name), the staff is standoffish and generally pretty unhelpful. Unless you look like you're dripping with money, it's hard to get assistance (again, except for one exceptional assistant). Sometimes, it's like the staff forget where they're working. It's JCrew on Chestnut Street, not Hermès on Madison Avenue. read more

J. Crew's apparel is hit or miss, but I have never had an unpleasant experience at this particular location. I find the staff extremely friendly and accommodating, not pushy, and often very helpful in terms of ordering out of stock items or stacking discounts. My only complaint is that the sale section is incredibly tiny -- because of the layout, if there's more than one person browsing it's impossible to pass anyone -- and often messy, since it doesn't get the amount of attention that the front end of the store does. read more

I went there to specifically try on and buy an overcoat. The 30 percent off sign was next to the overcoat display and I asked if the discount applied to the overcoat. The salesperson, who was otherwise extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable, said yes, it was store wide. Then the inevitable happened. I went to purchase the coat and found out the discount didn't apply and so I said I didn't want it. Why does the list of exclusions have to read like the federal tax code? I went home and was going to order it online from jcrew but decided to buy from a competitor, which offered 30% off as well. I did receive from jcrew some spam emails. read more

Attentive staff usually, decent selection of wares (women's more so), and a nice mix of decor. I try to make my way in twice a month to catch on sale items. The quality of some garments leaves a bit to be desired (knits for example). I try to stick to the In Good Company items when I can. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service at the downtown location on Chestnut Street. One employee was openly berating a customer to the security person because the customer asked what was included in the 30%-off sale. The JCrew employee was rude and inappropriate. This location has historically had terrible customer service, and today's shopping experience served to validate past visits. read more

I went into J.Crew to buy an interview suit, shoes and everyday tote bag. J (Jerell) helped me from the moment I stepped in the store with showing me suit styles and fabrics. J was so patient and took the time out to accommodate all of my questions and concerns even while he was helping another client. He went the extra mile and put into context the type of job and interviewer, provided insight on the job location (Atlanta) and even gave me a positive pep talk. It was a wonderful experience and has given me an extra boost of confidence for the upcoming interview. Fingers crossed I get the job so that he could be my stylist all the time! read more

I dropped a lot of cash there and even though I'd fallen off my love in the last few years I used to love this location for the attentive service. There was one guy in particular that was just incredible and I remember he left (last seen at a more upscale shop which I won't mention for fear of sounding like a stalker, but good for him - he's better than J Crap) right around the time I managed to quit them. This was when I received an internet order with two tanks - same size, same style, different colors, and very obviously different in width and length. Their lack of quality control was undeniable at that point and prices kept rising, soooo...yeah. I ain't got time. Sorry. Anyway...I stopped in today. I don't know what it is with me and retail stores. I'm well groomed. I'm fairly stylish. I'm not afraid to drop a few pennies if I feel inspired. Still, I feel like this time they'd gotten some interns from Knit Wit or something. I was ignored. Not normal ignored, which I actually kind of prefer. But studiously ignored. I guess maybe I look fat and ugly or whatever, but is that really the point? Completely ignored twice by one women who was practically tongue kissing other customers and then pretty much shoved me out of the way to grab a blouse off the rack. Ran away from by some dude when trying to get a fitting room...I don't know, maybe his skinny pants were chafing and it was an emergency. Let into a fitting room by someone who then apparently proceeded to knock on every other door twice to check up, but not mine. Which I also usually don't mind, but I might have preferred to have a few things grabbed for me in another size this time. I ended up buying a silk scarf and a belt. The cashier asked if anyone helped me and I said no, even though she was the fitting room woman and probably gave herself a commission anyway. I asked her to wrap the scarf in tissue and leave the belt separate since I had my own shopping bag, but didn't want the belt to snag the silk scarf. She acted like I told her I had a gun and then proceeded to wrap them together. WTF PEOPLE - WHY, in God's name do you people still act like using a reusable shopping bag makes me a leper? ERRRRBODY HAS THEM. And do I REALLY want a leather belt that can't even stand up to being carried in a shopping bag by its lonesome? This is not hard. Wrap up the scarf and hand me my stuff and let me put it in a bag and leave. OMFG I hate you and I am done. I know this is dramatic, but they just...ugh. I feel angry mostly because I bought anything. I hope Jenna Lyons gets a wicked hangover and maybe a yeast infection (I was going to say brain cancer, but that seemed harsh...I just wish a little sick kinda payback for all the money I waste for crap experiences there). read more

I was in jcrew today with my boyfriend looking for a suit. Unfortunately the options there were just beyond our price range. However, Glen the stylist who helped us was awesome. He was not only extremely knowledgeable regarding our options at the store but gave us some great ideas for where to continue our search in the center city area.
