I arrived within the grace period for my appointment after fighting through all the construction traffic near the salon and was told by Liz/Lis at the front desk that I would not be accommodated, it was Friday what did I expect, and that she couldn't do anything about it. I offered a wash and rough dry. No. I offered a wash and get as far as you can on a straight blowout in 30 minutes. No.I asked for a reschedule. Nope. I asked to wait. Probably not - she would only work me in if she had a full on cancel (never mind the multiple stylists that were sitting in the back when I got there). I was told dry style (which my hair was not ready for) was the only option and because I didn't want that I needed to move aside and I was wasting her time. At that point it was clear that waiting and dry style were no longer options for me. The eye-rolling from the front desk was the cherry on top. So once again I was looking for products by myself. I wanted to use the credit to buy items online, which were out of stock at that physical location. Sam told me that she would give me a store credit card with the returned amount, and I could then buy an E gift card that I could use online with that store credit card. After 30 minutes of trying to convert the store credit card into an E gift card, I ended up calling the main Ulta customer care. They were so incredibly rude. I heard a gaggle of people laughing in the background, and it was clear that I was being constantly muted. Eventually, the glorious sales representative just hung up on me. I called back and asked for a manager. The woman explained to me that all of the information I was given in store was incorrect. She said that you can never use a store credit card to purchase an E gift card. I then called back the original store that I was at earlier in the morning and spoke with Sam. She told me that she meant that I could have received a gift card in store as opposed to the store credit card. That is not what I heard. She then said that she could convert the store credit card into an E gift card, but that she would have to read the number to me over the phone. I told her I was fine with that, and she checked with the manager to see if that would be OK. The manager then got on the line who was so condescending. I explained to her that I don't have an Ulta location physically near me that is convenient. She scoffed at that and didn't believe it. I then told her that Sam was supposed to be checking with her to see if she could convert the store credit card into an E gift card, and she then told me they can't do that either. She also explained that they don't allow you to receive a gift card for store credit in the store typically. So which is it? Both employees are contradicting one another. I told her how unhappy I was with this entire situation. They intentionally make it where you have to return to a physical store in order to purchase anything with your credit, which makes it much less convenient than if you were just able to purchase the items online. That is the entire point. They want to make it as difficult as possible for you to use your store credit. When I told the manager that I would never use Ulta again, she said "well, that's on you." Obviously, I didn't take that rude response well. Thanks, Ulta! I'm so glad I get to spend my birthday going from store to store trying to find one lipgloss in stock. You suck, and I'll NEVER shop with you again. It's Sephora from here on out!

And I'm pretty sure illigal. There was something else about refusing a service.. which should have never been booked and i was asked up front if it should be moved to another stylist. I had JUST recieved a performance review three days prior that was nothing but glowing praise. From my attendance and work around the shop, to the revenue and tips i was bringing in with my work. That same day there were some very choice, quite racist talk from the front desk. He chose to speak about Indian women, claiming that they smell bad, are finicky, and then mocked the accent. And then shockingly referred to them as "curry queens" in a very derogatory manner Not coincidentally, two days later she decided to fire my partner who had been a loyal employee for 6 years... claiming he had missed too much work... when he had been legitimately sick twice. He was fired through a text message and asked to collect his things. The stylists are fantastic, but over worked and grossly underpaid.
