My family tried the boozy hot chocolate, wine, and a couple of drinks from their solid coffee selection. The staff was friendly and kept things moving smoothly even with the festival crowd. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5--is the limited snack options. It would've been nice to pair the drinks with a few more bites, especially during such a busy event. Overall, though, Proletariat is definitely worth a stop if you're exploring the Strand. Great drinks, great vibe, and a perfect little retreat during Dickens on the Strand.

Vacation on Canvas is one of my favorite art galleries on Galveston Island. The art in this gallery are mostly original pieces by Robert A. Peterson. There are some smaller prints available but most pieces are original. There are various types of paintings. Many are of the various water birds you find around Galveston including pelicans, blue heron, spoonbills, gulls etc. There are also various paintings of ships, fish, and other sea life. There are also a plethora of sunsets. There is a wide array of originals that can be purchased for a few hundred dollars. Smaller prints are less.
