We just had our 3rd major project completed by J and R Fine Landscaping. It extended our usable space and it looks great. We also had a large patio and firepit installed a few years ago which turned out to be more difficult than planned due to a large amount of concrete underground. This also included a redo of our front yard. The project was still finished on time and still looks wonderful. Last year we had another patio completed and our yard leveled out which gives us another place to sit and enjoy yard games. It also looks great. We found J and R Fine Landscaping to be very responsive on all of our projects including smaller short notice needed yard maintenance projects. Jim Goddard always provided great advice on what we should do and what would look great but he would always work with what we wanted. We live on a slope we wanted to put a swing set for our kids. Our backyard was uneven, it was difficult to mow the lawn and keep up with the uneven slope. Went sliding down the backyard many times during the winter while walking our pup. Few landscaping companies we approached gave us crazy design and ideas that didn't make sense at a ransom price. When we approached Jim, he was very knowledgeable he understood what is the best and efficient way to utilize the area. He gave us a quote, he itemized and gave us a high level project plan. Once the project kicked off his team was always on time and they worked tirelessly to complete the project. We will be working with Jim on all our landscaping projects. I recommend him! read more

we had a big water issue with our backyard and basement. come to find out that to resolve the water issue which involved water saturation in the back yard and basement we needed to install a French drain as close as possible to the foundation of the house. It was a costly project but we need to get it done this spring. After a couple of estimates we decided to hire J and R Find landscaping. Their crew and especially Justin did an excellent job. I hope Justin stays with this company for a long time, because we are keeping them in mind for the new patio. Justin takes a lot of pride in his work and we're very pleased. Plus he is ver knowledgeable and knows what products and materials work best. read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. Jim and his crew are absolutely the worst company you could possibly hire and I just wish my husband and I knew sooner. They dug up our driveway to put in a french drain, got paid, and never finished the job even though they had been paid for it. Now our driveway is destroyed and out over $3000 dollars. I wouldn't wish these people on my worst enemy. It is so incredibly sad to see how awful people can be. They should truly be ashamed of themselves. We will be taking legal action against them. read more

July 19, 2023 J & R Fine Landscaping of Andover, MA failed to honor the warranty on the plants that they planted in our garden, which were given a one year warranty where Jim Goddard, owner of J and R Landscaping, committed in his contract with us that J and R Landscaping would replace any and all perennial plantings (plants that he bought for the project) that died within a year from when they were planted. Jim Goddard was notified multiple times that many of the perennials he bought and planted had died well within the one year warranty of his landscaping contract, some of the plants having died shortly after they were planted (and everything was being watered properly). He made numerous promises to take care of replacing the perennials that had died as those perennials were being reported to him as having died (some just a few months after being planted.) I asked Goddard early in this spring to let us know when he was going to replace the perennials that died but he has failed to honor both the contractual warranty and ignored the written promises he sent me that he was going to plant the replacement plants at the beginning of this past spring. All of J and R Landscaping promises regarding standing behind their warranty on the plantings have been ignored. Now Goddard ignores my attempts to reach him. As in the other reviews posted here, J and R Landscaping does not stand behind their work and does not even return calls, emails or text messages as has been reported here by others. read more

They installed a patio and firepit for us several years ago. During the installation no drainage was put in for a sitting wall next to the firepit. Also, the polymeric sand is already disintegrating and many of the blocks on the sitting wall and firepit are loose. Last year at this time he came to look at it and he said he would fix it free of charge within a few weeks. It has been a year and he has completely ghosted us and will not return any calls. So now I am going to have to pay someone else to fix their mistakes. I recommend never hiring these people for anything. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had with any contractor or landscaper in my 37 years of owning homes. They installed a fence so poorly it should be replaced. The fence post are uneven, the panels are damaged, concrete and rocks where hidden in my bushes. Jim Goddard is the first person I will every take to small claims court court and hopefully the last. Unfortunately, we payed up front for the season. They do a terrible job plowing and landscaping. We keep having to call them every time it snows because they do not show up. They do not shovel out the fire hydrant, mail box, or doors like they are contracted to do. When they landscape they do not do whole areas of the property. Not recommended. read more

Dustin and team did an outstanding job that transformed the look of our home. Large, messy and undefined best described the look of our yard but the J&R Fine landscaping team were diligent, creative, polite and detail oriented when executing on a plan that included integrating/installing 60+ ft of metal edging, defining 6 large unwieldy shrub/flower beds all while spreading yards of mulch. It was a big project with flawless execution! read more
