I was traveling on I55 and it started alarming with the warning on the dashboard; IDLE TRANSMISSION HOT, I freaked for a couple seconds, and I stopped on the shoulder and waited for a few minutes. This same thing happened again and I pulled over. I didn't drive on the interstate again, returning back home. And was charged next to nothing! To make it a long story short, a week later, and after calling several transmission mechanics, I was referred to PTR, Prevost Transmission Repair, owner is Leon Prevost. I spoke to him about this problem and he said that "they" must've put too much transmission oil in it, because another customer had the same problem after she had too much oil in her car, by the same service I used. And after taking the excessive oil out, her car was fine. Mr Prevost was a caring individual over the phone, and face to face. I admired his caring attitude and his honesty. I'm a widow and haven't had to take care of my cars before losing my husband. PTR transmission is the place to go if your transmission needs work!

Now a year later I brought it to my friend mechanic and he just informed me it's the same problem along with some other little things as a result of improper repair. I definitely don't recommend this shop. I put $1300 into a false repair just to put $1500 more into proper repair a year later. Also, what took them over a week is taking an actual professional only two days.

Thank goodness for Yelp. I got a call from my daughter about her car not starting. Since she goes…read moreto school in Hammond and I don't live near her school, I was concerned not being able to find a reputable car mechanic. I had earlier changed her battery, but her car still would not start. I found Russell's Auto Repair on Yelp and I drove to their facility. When I got there, I spoke to Michael and told him about the car troubles. He reassured me that he would take care of the car as quickly as possible so my daughter could be able to get back and forth to school and work. He recommended a towing company, and I got the car towed that morning. Shortly after they got my daughter's car, I got a call back from Michael letting me know the problem with it and the cost. Within three or four hours, they changed the starter and went over her vehicle for any other issues. The cost was very reasonable and the professionalism that Michael portrayed was well worth going there. Thank you again for getting us up and going in such a short time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that would have any issues with their vehicle.
