I tried a couple of places before settling on Salon Cheveux. The place I went to back in California pampered me beyond belief. They had free beer/wine/mimosas and the haircuts took at least 45-1 hour. Being a guy, an hour long haircut is pretty long, but it is well worth it at the end. The two places I tried before Salon Cheveux did decent jobs, but the big issue for me was that they seemed to do a rush job. They would pull out the clippers and just clipper my hair. Never looked super great. My husband came here and had a haircut by Kirsten. I thought it looked great so I decided to give her a try. Right away I liked her and this place. Clean, bright, and a good smack of luxury when you walk in the door. No free mimosas, but I can live with that. Kirsten does an awesome job. She never used the clippers on my hair and she really takes her time to make sure it is done right. Sometimes there can be a wait to see your stylist, but what salon doesn't? It isn't a terrible place to wait and you should know by now to factor that into your appointment. The only gripe I have with them is not being able to tip with a card. I don't regularly carry cash or pay for anything with cash. It adds extra steps to the haircut process when you have to remember to have just enough cash to tip. I won't dock them a star because that is management's issue and nothing to do with the quality of work or the store. 82/100

The receptionist calls to cancel my appointment because my stylist is going on an unplanned vacation (one of their kids gave them the trip as a gift for Christmas so why did they even schedule my appt in March if they knew in December they would be gone) and doesn't even try to fit me in, just says I can schedule with another stylist. Let me add to this that I have extremely difficult hair to cut and style. Not just "anyone" can do it. So I'm left high and dry for my Birthday. Now I have a June 1st appt scheduled and I find out today, May 26, that another vacation has taken priority over my appt and again they cannot fit me in before he leaves. When someone charges $108 for a haircut you expect some professionalism and customer service. Could the stylist call and try to fit me in? Nope. Makes the receptionist do his dirty work. Maybe he should just retire and vacation all he wants rather than make appts he doesn't keep. He never used to do until this last year. I am finding there are much friendlier, very talented and more customer service oriented salons in White Bear than this one and they aren't as expensive. Would not recommend based on the non existent concern about their clients schedules/needs. Overpriced for what you don't get in my opinion.

I'm going to a new salon to reinstate my natural color, hopefully, my curl pattern is permanently ruined until it grows out. It made me wonder if she knew any idea of what Yelp was and made me not tell her that I may or may not review this experience. I may not review all the time, but for the most part, people always remember their not so good experience so here goes nothing: I got a tip from one of our managers on our floor where she got her last haircut and I was in dire need of a haircut (hadn't gotten a hair cut in almost a year so the mop on my head was was in desperate need of TLC). I told her that I loved her hair and she had a good experience with the girl at Shear Success. I said I am totally going there and happen to see they had a Groupon. Score for me - made me look forward to it even more so. Finally the day arrived to get my haircut and I was anxious all day for it because I was ready for healthier and lighter hair. Unfortunately for the hairdressers here, I compare their work with what I get back at home in Michigan. I've lived here for the last 5 years and CANNOT find THE hairstylist that is a keeper. I would think there would be endless possibilities as my hair was waist length. So this is what happened: She took the shears and cut off the length with maybe two cuts. Then proceeded to color my hair with partial foil. When she got to the hair closest to my forehead she slapped it on and probably punched my right eye a couple times in the process. I would have told her but I probably blacked out both times. And here is where I should have stayed quiet and not ask any questions: Me: So...what do you plan on doing with my hair (this is while she is blowdrying my hair, at which point makes me think she was close to being done) Hairstylist: Oh what do you mean? I asked her if she could go back in and put some layers in there and she said that there already were layers in there but I just couldn't see them. At that, I tipped her nicely - probably more so than I should have, but since I don't think I'll go back, it was my "I'm not coming back and guess what, you'll be on Yelp." (I had bad brow waxing experiences in the past.) I tried Heidi at Jaide after reading yelp reviews and am glad I did. She did a fantastic job. She listens to your input about whether you want you brows to be thicker, let certain parts grow in more, etc. Since first trying Heidi, my "regular" opened up a new shop. After returning to my regular gal for a brow wax, I realized how much bang I got for my buck with Heidi, and have since returned to Heidi and will continue to for as long as she works at Jaide.
