Uh oh, I feel an interrobang coming on:
Wow, this is a real shop
I've walked by J.A. Powell's locksmithing shop so many times I assumed it was another of those shuttered antiques peppering the City Centre. With the ongoing and weed-choked digout of the building behind, this faded and barred building looked more like part of the destruction than a business.
Lo and behold, the lights were on and the sign said open, and the adventure began... and ended. This is a very well stocked shop that really does what it says on the tin: locks. And all sorts, too: houses, cars, chains and fences.
There's no art to the stock, no hours posted, and no effort made to invite shoppers in or keep them there. This is solid trade (if you can get in).
Points off for presentation, obfuscation and general strangeness. read more
