Wonderful Dublin business that have been operating for decades. Recently had a 25 year old dining…read moretable repaired by them that they had actually custom made 25 years ago. Willing to haggle on price (within reason) and very pleasant to deal with. I should add that they made custom fitted wardrobes and cupboards for our house a few years ago which transformed our home and have been shown (over the years) to be of excellent build quality.

Having purchased a new abode, several items seemed to be out of order in the electrical department…read more It was decided we needed to call in a professional, as despite standing around talking about the offending item for hours, they still wouldn't work. Upon arriving into work, I opened up Yelp and the very first thing I say was a review for Hade Electrical. I took it as a sign and immediately looked up the website (despite it being a post by the owner). The website is nicely done (aka it doesn't look like someone's 4 year old has developed it for IE5) and I decided to call the chap called Dermot. On the phone he was lovely to speak with and we arranged for him to come out. At the agreed time, he was waiting for me at the new abode. For the next while, I pointed out what I wanted him to look at, and followed him around while he worked on things. He probably thinks I'm a freak for following him around, but I had nothing else to do and I was interested in what was going on. He was so kind when he pointed out that my non-functioning doorbell chime was actually the alarm bell box, and even held in the laughter when pointing out that the alarm sensor up in the corner was my doorbell chime. Bless his heart! He fixed up some bits and bobs and left me with info for a new heater, if we wanted to replace the hideous storage heater which wasn't working. He came back in later that week to remove our storage heaters, fit a sleek new electric rad and replace the elements in the water heater. He was extremely friendly, pleasant to chat with and I actually had a good laugh joking with him. He cleaned up after himself and took everything away. He even fitted a new ceiling spot for free as a house-warming present! I was more than happy with the fee's he charged, I thought they were very reasonable. We will definitely be using him again.

I actually thought Belle Cheminee was an antique shop when I walked in, because they had a lot of…read moreantique-looking statuettes outside. To my surprise- and I should have known had I bothered to translate the name of the shop- it is actually a fireplace showroom. Belle Cheminee specialise in antique fireplaces and grates, but they also have a selection of garden statues, so I wasn't entirely wrong. While I was having a look around I was told that they offered a free consultation service as well in case I had any questions, but nobody was trying too hard to sell me something so full marks for the service.

I highly recommend John. The best handyman around. Asked john for a quote for painting last year…read more His quote was highly competitive and he supplied all materials so less hassle for us. The job was done to the highest standards. His attention to detail was great and he left the place clean and tidy. Asked john back to do some gardening for us this year and again I was so pleased with the job. I highly recommend john for any of your handyman needs. Friends and family have also used john on the back of our recommendation. The most reliable, friendly and honest hardworker I've met. Thanks john for all you've done for us. Uh oh, I feel an interrobang coming on: Wow, this is a real…read moreshop I've walked by J.A. Powell's locksmithing shop so many times I assumed it was another of those shuttered antiques peppering the City Centre. With the ongoing and weed-choked digout of the building behind, this faded and barred building looked more like part of the destruction than a business. Lo and behold, the lights were on and the sign said open, and the adventure began... and ended. This is a very well stocked shop that really does what it says on the tin: locks. And all sorts, too: houses, cars, chains and fences. There's no art to the stock, no hours posted, and no effort made to invite shoppers in or keep them there. This is solid trade (if you can get in). Points off for presentation, obfuscation and general strangeness.

The most helpful Hardware store I have ever visited. Its a family run business that make helping…read morepeople with their problems more of a priority than making money. For example, when I went here to buy a car battery, they tested it out for me and suggested that I just take the car for a half hour run to charge it. They could have easily gave me a new battery and I would have been none the wiser. Fair play to these guys, they are a dying breed. Also, this place has a bigger range of stuff than places twice the size. This place really is an Aladdins cave full of hidden treasures.
