Really confused about this place. I had to get a new key for my apartment cut STAT after I was pickpocketed - so my landlady emailed in and had them make one for me. Here begins the confusion:
I called in when I realized I wouldn't be able to make it in before they close at 6, panicking as that would mean I'd be locked out of my place with an exam the next morning. The guy (Michael maybe?) answered and arranged for me to pick it up through a nearby shop, and leave payment so they'd receive it the next day. SO good of him and it went off without a hitch.
Turns out there was a miscommunication between the locksmith and my landlady so the key let me in to my building but not my apartment (apparently the key they made was to a different apartment in my building) - long story short I got in anyway, by a stroke of luck. The next morning the landlady got it sorted out so they'd cut the right one for me at no additional charge.
Here's the bad: when I went into the shop to pick it up, there was a guy working in the back and a lady at the counter. She chatted merrily away to the two customers in front of me while I waited, relaxed and quiet and polite, to the side. As soon as she got to me however she suddenly became extremely brusque, rude, and snappy (the friend who tagged along with me remarked on it afterwards to me so I know it wasn't just me)! After I explained who I was and she had made a huge sighing scene to the guy in the back about "Do you know what she's on about?" (He did and was polite) she continued to stand at the counter, staring over my shoulder silently and pointedly ignoring me. I tried to make small, friendly conversation but immediately gave up.
Collected my keys and made payment for the extra copy I had ordered, and was so happy to leave - the keys worked but I have no idea what that lady's issue was. You'd think I'd run over her cat or something.
Anyway, very confusing place. read more
