    Tuna and salmon nigiri
    Giselle P.

I went on recommendation from a nail tech. It's a small sushi bar that has open seating. I was warned not to go on an empty stomach as the wait time for food can take up to 45 minutes to an hour on a busy night. I sat at the bar at the server was extremely helpful. There was only one person serving as it's a small establishment, but he was on top of things! The owner is also the chef, and I was told that he offers a small menu because he likes to use the freshest fish possible. I ordered the pork katsu as a starter and the tuna and salmon nigiri. The katsu was breaded and fried to perfection, it was crunchy and tender, drizzled with a katsu bbq sauce and paired with a spicy kewpie mayo for dipping. The nigiri was extremely fresh! The salmon and tuna melts in your mouth with each bite. I have to agree with the nail tech who recommended Izzy, this is the best sushi establishment in Tallahassee.

Great hang out. Love the high tops inside the place. It's not a big dinning hall. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. Not noisy so we could hold conversation. There are also outside covered dinning area with about 5 or 6 tables. Even restaurant is located by Tallahassee midtown, there's ample parking behind the restaurant. Izzy serves Japanese and Pan-Asian small plates, and sushi. Good variety of sake, beer and wine. We ordered sashimi dinner as one of our appetizers. Fish was fresh, no complaints. I also had a Korean short ribs bowl. Meat was tasty grilled. Portion was good, not small. We were a big group and food was served in a timely manner. Others in our party had no complaints on their orders either. I need to commend on the bathroom. It looks clean and well kept! Definitely will visit again.

The food was delicious especially the daily soup which was a curry soup was outstanding. The edamame was good but made delicious with the plum sauce or whatever that was. The drinks were excellent. My volcano roll was ok, I didn't care too much for it. How we the dinner was good. Inside there was a very strong smell so it's better to sit outside. Benton was friendly however he was the only server so there was a little wait sometimes which was totally fine on a rainy week day when they did not expect it to be busy. For Tallahassee standards this is a solid place.

This is an excellent hidden gem in Tallahassee! The gyoza is some of the best I've had and their Hawaiian Poke Roll is amazing! I would also highly recommend the "Trust Me" roll, the chefs make some excellent (secret ingredient) rolls. The service is always great but get here right at 5 or it will be very busy and possibly a long wajt. They have some great craft beers on draft that they rotate and help make this the perfect place to enjoy a meal.

We got two rolls, the Tallahassee roll and the Trust me roll. We preferred the Tallahassee roll. The rolls were good, but I would try one of the others instead of the Trust me. It was good but we prefer a brighter tasting roll and it was more earthy.

My son and I visited Izzy's sushi pub for the first time and we're very pleased. He ordered miso soup and Ichabod roll and a two roll lunch. I ordered a three roll lunch which included an eel roll, smoked salmon and a spicy salmon roll. I also ordered a curry fish stew that was very good. We were pleased with our lunch and the service. We will return.

Amazing food, charming service. This will definitely be my go-to when I visit my son at FSU.

We just had dinner here on a whim. We have driven past this spot so many times wanting to try it. We will definitely be coming back. The service was phenomenal and prompt. The food itself came out very quickly and the quality of the fish was excellent. I chose the trust me (chef curated roll) and I can say without a doubt it is one of the best sushi rolls I've ever eaten. The price point for the sushi here is definitely worth it compared to some other places I've eaten at. They also offer a unique variety of options if you are feeling adventurous. We will definitely be coming back to try omakase in the future.

Omakase Night was absolutely worth the price. Great food & great service! Only got a few pics because i was too busy enjoying the food and experience. Will definitely be back.

Tuna tataki appetizer. $14. It tasted more like smoky katsuo. Tasty.

I know I can't find the same - or even just close enough - quality of Japanese cuisine or sushi and sashimi I can get with the same price in Seoul or L. A. or NYC..but when I really need to eat some sashimi and a bit of izakaya type food, Izzy is the only place in tallahassee that fit the bill. It's a little too pricey and some of the dishes are really not worth the price tag, but the quality of fish they use here is better than any other sushi places in tally. I also like going here for occasional lunches (3 roll special for $17.95 or so. At dinner, 3 yellowtail rolls without salad or soup would be $24..)& rice bowls. Things that I am willing to spend money on and will go back for - Sashimi dinner (like I said the fish quality is better than any other places), pork belly rice bowl with fried egg, Korean chicken bite appetizer (a bit bready, but the chicken is moist and the sauce is good enough), and simple rolls. Occasionally I like to order the pub fries ($8/11) Gyoza is pretty good (better than other places with below mediocre dumplings tasting like frozen items from Asian grocery stores), but 6 tiny gyozas for $9! If you're a roll type person (rolls covered in sauces and condiments), maybe this is not for you as there are other places that have decent rolls at cheaper prices. But the sashimi is better here. Oh also this is one of the very few places (as of March 2022) that still have servers and cooks wearing masks& it has a nice outdoor seating area. Koo

I've heard so many great things about this place and was excited to try it. Overall, the food was just ok. They didn't have a daily soup when I went. The miso was good. I felt the sushi could have been presented a little better. I cleaned off the plate for this photo. It's a intimate and cute atmosphere.

Would not recommend. No parties over 6 are allowed, and the food is not good enough for them to act like that about it.

The drinks are strong, well-priced, and there are always a wide variety of brands to choose from. The bartenders are friendly and make you feel like a regular, even if you only pop in once a month or so. That being said, this type of experience usually only applies Monday-Thursday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday are a completely different ballgame. On the weekends, Finnegan's turns from a relaxing Irish pub into a main Tallahassee music venue with Fifth & Thomas, adding swarms of people, a bouncer, seating that you have to fight for, and deafening background noise. Although the bartenders try to keep up, it's hard to to get to the bar and then even harder to have them hear your order. I know it is what it is, but it's hard to enjoy a visit hear on the weekends. Overall then, Finnegan's makes for a relaxing spot with friends on off-nights, but be prepared for what you're getting yourself into on the weekends.

The Loaded Tots were topped with warmed up ham cold cuts and shredded cheddar cheese, warm but not completely melted, ew. The only redeeming quality of the tots was the beer cheese sauce that I used to drown out the frozen tot flavor. To add insult to injury, I was served a Guinness from a bottle which is a damn disgrace given the place calls itself an Irish pub. It wasn't even a full pint of Guinness! The atmosphere was palatable but the music was some random DJ Press Play big booty remix. Why no Irish music? Or something a bit more on "theme"? And I say theme, because that is all it was, a theme. An idea in the ether that remained unfulfilled in reality, and is only supported by the numbing effect of the spirits on the visitor who must pretend they are in an Irish Pub.
