Came in to get dinner with my family. We were greeted immediately when we asked in and sat at a table. Took a while for waitress to come over but she was so helpful and prompt once she got our order. I had sushi, egg drop soup, hubby had noodles and my son has fried rice and teriyaki chicken. All and all the food was okay. We ended up spending 100 bucks between the 3 of us but I think we were all hungry. Overall, i would come back and maybe try something different. read more

Terrible place. On our order, I specified that my sister was allergic to shrimp. I ordered one shrimp dish and she ordered one salmon dish. They're supposed to be served separately for safety reasons, since that's why I wrote it down. When I received my order, they gave them to me together, and when I told the employee, she switched them around as if it were a game. That's playing with people's lives. I had to go back to the restaurant to say so, and on top of that, I had to buy some Benadryl. The service was awful, inept, and irresponsible. I absolutely do not recommend this place. The customer service is terrible. If you have allergies, don't eat there, because they won't listen to you and will probably just laugh at you. read more

Not the best Thai curry I've had, but not bad at all. The service was friendly and food was served hot. I also very much appreciated that the dish was served spicy. Many times curries are labeled as spicy but then have no kick to them. They do not have brown rice. The place appears to be closed from the outside, because the windows are very dark, but they do have a flashing OPEN sign in the window. **UPDATE: I went back a few days later and had called in an order of seaweed salad, and vegetable rolls to-go. I was told that it would be ready in 10 mins. I arrived about 20 mins later and I still had to wait another 10 mins. The seaweed salad was typical and good; but beware, they put some type of orange fish egg looking stuff on top. I was able to scoop out that portion and enjoy the rest. The vegetable roll was cut extremely inconsistently, this does not affect flavor but does affect presentation. The only vegetables were avocados, lettuce and sweet potato. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the roll, despite not being given any pickled ginger. Red curry with vegetables: B- Seaweed salad: B+ Vegetable roll: A- Overall a decent restaurant that I would visit again. Izumi was deserted inside (Tuesday night during covid times!) but the food was just what we needed. We had some edamame to start, very hot and just enough salt. Enjoyed the vegetarian roll (with fried sweet potato on top, lettuce, avocado, cucumber), spicy salmon roll (a little strange with the mayo inside + shiracha combo), and the ebi shrimp tempura roll (really nice flavors), all with eel sauce scattered about. Good experience, would recommend coming if you're in the mood and traveling through. Average prices for the atmosphere (after all, you're in a strip mall). read more

This place is good mostly for sushi. They also have a variety of plates in their menu. There not many sushi places near here to compare it. If I have to make a comparison with other sushi restaurant in the San Juan area then this one is not even in not my first but here in my hometown it serves its purpose . Dumplings are not high quality but satisfy the craving for it. Don't expect Chinatown quality. Service is good,atmosphere is also good. read more

My family went here for dinner based on a recommendation. Very disappointed. First, the good stuff: service was nice, clean place, and the kids' fried rice was good. They ate them. Now the not so good: steamed dumplings, the worst I have ever had. They came out cold, tasted terrible, hard. Felt like someone took them out of the freezer and cooked them quickly. Regardless, I tried to eat but couldn't. I felt like throwing up. Next, fried dumplings. Same thing. My wife and son also left them and didn't want to eat either. We are fans of dumplings but these are not. Next is chicken broccoli. One of my son's regular favorites. Tasted bad. Chicken was undercooked and broccoli was hard. He gave up after trying to eat. My wife and I also ordered chicken Pad Thai. I have it just under an OK. Overall, I would not recommend this place. read more

The Chinese food is very good, my usual is pork fried rice and ribs. Ribs are huge and taste excellent.

On vacation and came across this place. We walked in, sat down and a few mins later the waitress came by to take our order. We ordered cocktails, which took at least 15 mins, mind you, only 3 tables here and simple cocktails to make. Ordered sushi, two rolls, which had Zero taste.. I've had sushi many times, I'm from NJ and NY where we have some of the best sushi places, so I wasn't just being picky. Fish tasted fresh, but about it. Prices are not cheap by any means. At least 20-30% more then normal prices in the states. Overall, I wouldn't come back. I don't mind paying top dollar for something when ITS worth it. read more

I've had mall sushi that was fresher and more delicious than Izumi's sushi. I was very disappointed in the poor quality of the fish. When you're on an island surrounded by marine life you'd think the fish would be fresher. Equally disappointing is the price for a majority of the rolls, which go as high as $16 a pop. I stuck with the moderately priced spicy salmon and spicy tuna and two pieces of salmon sushi. If you can't get those right, basic sushi staples, then don't sell sushi. The service was great, our server was very nice and accommodating and thus deserving two stars. Otherwise, Izumi is very lackluster. read more

This is not really a sushi bar, it is a pan-Asian restaurant. Aside from sushi you can also order Chinese and Thai dishes. We went here expecting the best, instead we got a soup that was water and vegetables. For the next course we got sushi, tuna and eel rolls. Some of the dishes are just terrible. I did like some of the sushi like the tempura but the other one I tried were expensive and mostly tasteless. The staff is mostly nice so that's a plus. We don't have that many restaurants that make sushi here in Ponce but this one is still probably at the top in that's places of you want to eat some sushi. Been eating sushi for many years in many countries .. This is the Only place I have seen were they sell a rainbow roll for $17 dollars and then Skip The Fish on top of part of roll pieces to save money! Most likely poor managenent, because any decent sushi chef would not do that. read more

My review IS NOT about Izumi Sushi. It is about the anex Izumi Chinese Restaurant. Great place, great prices and great food. There is not need to keep visiting the dirty chinese restaurants in the area. This one is clean, has fast service and the food is better. Even the mofongo puts some Puerto Rican chinchorros to shame.
