This place has hands down the best salsa in the world. Food arrives quickly, restaurant is clean, staff is extremely friendly, and the food portions are generous. The only reason for the 4-star is price is tending to get a little higher than a lot of other Mexican restaurants of similar food quality and portions. read more

This place has been around for years for a good reason, good, solid standard Mexican food. Nothing particularly fancy or innovative just good standard plates. The menu is huge so lots of choices but the single plates listed at the back provides the option to create your own combo. Tamales, chiles, tacos. I generally don't resist the chips and salsa so the option to skip the rice and beans generally works best for me. It's not going to rock your world but sometimes solid, dependable, well priced food in a pleasant space delivered by very nice people is a pleasure. read more

Not pleasant I always judge a Mexican restaurant by their rice and I realized right away that this was going to be a bad experience. I ordered a small combo with chicken enchilada and a chile relleno. The chicken did not have any taste and I had to cut chile relleno with a knife because it was too tough for a fork. Came here with our friends for dinner after looking at lights at the garden. The place serves great American Mexican good. The service outstanding with the older gentlemen marking jokes and being super sweet to all the kids at the table. He must be the boss man. But he was fantastic. Made for a great time. Ixtapa is another Silverton family favorite. We eat there about once a month or so. Good service, friendly staff and consistently good food. Their fajitas are my favorite but the spinach enchiladas and the various mole' dishes are also good. I ordered a meal through delivery.com. I ordered a burrito and I ordered a salad. On the order notes I asked them to put some tomatoes and cucumber on the salad. Right as the delivery person was delivering my order, someone from delivery.com called me to let me know the salad comes in a kit. Basically telling me that it's going to be the way it came out of the bag. It would have been great if somebody had let me know this in the 30 minutes it took before they started preparing my order. The order arrives, I look at the salad. The lettuce is old brown wilted and slimy. I run out for the driver. She came back to my door and looked at it. I just wanted someone to see how poor the quality was. She said 'no I would not eat that either, I will contact the restaurant and ask them to refund the salad.' I also called delivery.com and let them know what had happened. The restaurant refused to replace the cost of the salad. $7.50 Now let's get back to the part that the salad comes in a kit/preassembled whatever. Ixtapa is a restaurant that serves tomatoes on tacos, they couldn't put tomatoes on my salad? You're going to charge $7.50 for a handful of wilted brown slimy lettuce? During Covid lockdown, I used delivery service to order from this restaurant and I sat outside to eat at this restaurant. I was one of the customers that helped keep this restaurant running and this is how they are going to say thank you. I will not give them my business anymore. read more

This is my favorite of the many Ixtapa's in the valley(Stayton, Lebanon,Dallas, etc). We go here about every 2 months(used to go every month until Casa Amigoes opened near us in Keizer)but we always have a great meal, the environment is festive, and even my mother-in-law who has dementia enjoys her time at the Silverton restaurant. The owner always comes around and checks on the food and we always get it hot...we esp love the variety but usually get a combo of fajitas and buritoes or tacos. One thing that I like as a older person is that they refill my water/pop/drinks constantly. Its also a great place to eat while visiting Oregon Garden or Silverton Hospital.... read more

We brought my mom here for dinner the other night. We originally wanted to go to Salem and find food, but the night was getting too late. My mother wanted tortilla soup so I called Ixtapa, a small mexican restaurant located next to Safeway and DQ. The woman who answered the phone said, "What!" when I called. I simply asked, "Is this Ixtapa?" She replied, "I am so sorry, my kids keep calling me and I thought it was them again!" Well, I did call at 9:30pm....and honestly, my mom, wife and I were busting up laughing from it. We all love kids, and can understand why she would answer with a WHAT thinking it was her kids....we got a great kick outta it. When we showed up the place had a family in there eating so we didn't feel bad about showing up so late. The service was very friendly and we talked to the woman who answered the phone. Again she was apologetic and explained her situation, we assured her it was quite funny and to not worry a bit because we got a kick out of it. I ordered a carne asada burrito, mom had the tortilla soup and my wife had a chicken fajita. My burrito was good sized covered with sour cream and guacamole. The burrito was lacking on spices (cumin?) but was fresh tasting and wasn't too bad...but definitely not the best I've had by far. Moms Tortilla soup was VERY salty. My mom stated Chevy's has a MUCH better soup. The problem with Ixtapas was it tasted VERY salty. My mom had me try it and I agreed, it tasted like straight chicken stock. So that was a miss there... My wife seemed to be the lucky winner because she didn't hardly say anything! She was chowing down on her fajita to whole time. She said it tasted great had good spices and was perfect! So 1 YAY! I'm a fan! 1 A-ok! and 1 Eeek! Me thinks not! That averages out to about %60 so 3 stars it is. Apparently they were having some issues when we went because they kept getting too busy to come back to us. Once we got drinks and chips they never returned until I went looking for a drink refill. Another server came to get our order because the first was busy elsewhere. The food was hit or miss, one member loved hers, I may need to try it next time. My pork carnitas were just kinda blah, I'm used to them crisping them up so that you get a little bit of caramelized meat along with the tender meat. This was just a little soggy. They had decent flavor though. But then we didn't get the check although they came back and asked. We sat there another 20 minutes before someone wandered off to find someone to pay. My friends told me their service is usually better so not sure what was up. read more

This place is awful. I ordered a plain bean burrito. Not only was it an outrageous 6.25, but it was flooded on the outside with cheese, tasteless red sauce which gave it a wet consistency. I should have worn a jump suit. To boot, it looked like someone ran it over. It was that flat. I don't have a personal axe to grind with the place so I will take thus review down in 30 days and never go back. Visiting from AZ and we were looking for somewhere to have dinner. We decided to give it a try. We walk in and were immediately greeted and seated. They gave us chips and salsa. The salsa is delicious, lots of flavor. The menu has such a variety. I ended up trying the Carne Asada entree. It was good seasoned well and came with crispy onions which tasted excellent because they had a sweet taste. The Mexican rice had good flavor and beans were delicious.
