I've now come here twice, it's an awesome spot. It's $12 dollars per car per night and the…read moreproprietors charge $6 per bundle of firewood. There are restrooms (bring toilet paper) and cold showers. It's a large dirt lot on a bluff overlooking the beach. Be careful of mosquitoes during the night (I got eaten alive my first night, but was prepared and didn't get bitten the second time I went). I'd strongly recommend hitting up a Soriana or Calimax (Mexico's major grocery/department stores) in Rosarito before you get there for firewood (it's cheaper there), beer, tequila, soft drinks and snacks. There is a little shop in a hotel to the south of the campgrounds that sells liquor but at twice the price of the aforementioned stores. There is an Oxxo (think 7/11) at the entrance of the campgrounds that you can get beer and snacks at regular (low) prices. There are also two little food carts next to it that you can get cheap food but aren't always open. Too the best of my knowledge there are 4 restaurants/bars in the town, all to the south of the campgrounds. My favorite is Lighthouse which had great views, two TVs that show American sports, $3 tacos, $4 Margaritas, $3 beer. For the fishers out there, this is a great spot. The waves weren't huge and I did get a bunch of hits while fishing, hooked one but it snapped the line. I'd recommend using a Carolina rig with shrimp or clams/mussels. I wanted to use San fleas but they were surprisingly hard to find (I spent fifteen minutes and could only find two).if you do catch something, the Lighthouse will fillet and cook it for you. For the surfers out there, this seems like a good spot for consistent waves but I didn't see any huge ones. You can also rent surfboards and boogie boards at the entrance to the campgrounds. And lastly, if you decide car camping isn't for you, you can get good rooms at the hotels for between $55-$200 dollars. I stayed one night in the hotel above the towns liquor store for $55. It had an ocean view and private patio, two twin beds, not heated showers though. La Fonda has the best rooms but the cheapest is almost a $100 with no ocean view (but their proxy rooms do look good with ocean views). Come out to this spot, it's an extremely good vacation for the price. P.S. Also, you'll need a car which you can get insured in San Ysidro, Ca. The main highway to get there has tolls, which are $2 per stop, remember to have singles on you (it's between 2-3 tolls to get down, same going back).

4.5 stars Grounds…read morecan be hard to find. Make sure you arrive before it's dark, since the roads in the valley are not lit. The most accurate directions are on Google maps if you type in "Glamping Ruta de Arte y Vino". Some of the roads are now blocked, so it's best to come from Camino a Las Lomas/Emiliano Zapata rather than Hwy 3. Then, you'll pass by La Cocina de Dona Esthela and then Hacienda la Lomita. Once you arrive, you'll find a peaceful area with 5 cute little Airstreams and trailers. You'll also meet Cesar, who is very friendly and obviously loves what he does. The area is really communal. There's a central outdoor covered living space with couches and a fridge and a bonfire area. Behind that are the trailers, each with their own outdoor seating area. There's also a small outhouse and shower. At night, it's incredibly quiet as you're pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. You can see a full sky full of stars, and there's even a telescope you can use. The inside of the trailers are clean and modest. After Cesar showed us some of the other trailers that he was fixing up, you begin to have a huge appreciation for all of the work he put into refurbishing these old trailers (some are from the 1950-60s!). We stayed in the Avion, which had a full bed and two twin beds. It was one of the larger trailers. The outhouse was surprisingly clean for what it was, but just keep in mind that this is pretty much a campground, so an outhouse is still an outhouse. The shower was comfortable and there was hot water. Everyone staying here is friendly and young, so it can get rowdy on the weekends (until about midnight). We didn't have any problems, but if you have trouble sleeping, you'll want to stay in a trailer further from the communal area. I highly recommend this place if you want a retreat and enjoy unique experiences, but don't mind not having some standard hotel luxuries.

Now typically, we stay at Casa Encinares when we are down here, but they were completely booked during Valentines weekend so when we contacted this place, they surprisingly still had two airstreams available. The booking process was very easy as they were very informative and spoke descent enough english. We were lucky as the owners here knew our friends down in the area, so it made the reservation process much...MUCH easier. But if you want to book, I would still recommend going through their Airbnb listing or through their website! Let me just say, the place is hard to find! Do not use the coordinates on google maps as it will direct you to a dead end. Instead, use the address for La Cocina de Dona Esthella (a restaurant nearby), then from there, use the directions to go to the camp ground on google maps. We arrive pretty late at night but I contacted them to let them know. Once we got there, I was like a giggy little girl seeing some magical unicorn for the first time! It was dark, but all I see are airstreams lit up with lights. We walked up to the "common area" where the owner, Cesar, happened to be chatting with other guests. Cesar speaks good english so no problems with communications. He greeted us with glasses of wine then showed us our airstream and asked if we wanted to check out the other ones. I noticed that there was a better one available than what he had booked us in and asked if he would allow us to switch and he did not hesitate one bit to accommodate us! All the airstreams are renovated absolutely beautifully! There are no running waters inside the airstream (no toilet or kitchen usage), but there is an outhouse (yes, you have to poop and pee into a hole), and a man-made wooden shower with running water (yes, the water is heated). There is also a jacuzzi but at the time we went, it too cold to be used. The covered common area has plenty of seating, a hammock, and table with wine, coffee, water for the guests. There are also two beach cruiser bikes for the guests to use. Each airstream has its own grill situated outside the trailer, you just have to bring your own supplies for it. There are also lots of fire pits throughout the camp grounds so bring your own firewood! Our Valentines weekend here was so perfect! Our rooms (trailer) was decorated with so much love! We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful and peacefulness of our entire stay there! We met awesome friends at the camp grounds and even went to breakfast with them down the road at La Cocina de Dona Esthella. Enjoyed the stay so much that we already booked for our next trip here with our friends!

There seems To be 10 or less bungalow type rooms. There are sets of two rooms independently of each other so the hotel is spread out for an awesome sense of privacy. The rooms are very modern with a large bathroom. Perfect space for his and her to get ready and not feel on top of one another. Our room (bungalow 3) had an outdoor staircase which lead to the roof where you can sit and soak up the sun and have an amazing view of Ensenada. The entire perimeter is fenced in with a security guard at the entrance who keeps tabs on everyone in the complex. A 2 bedroom home can accommodate 4 guests, and they are strict about this. You will not be allowed to have additional guests even for a few hours, therefore it is very safe and private. I love the architecture which ranges from Mexican Baroque to traditional Spanish Colonial and the entire compound has cobblestone streets and cement walking paths. There are several little gardens of roses and other lovely flowers making this a great place to take walks and enjoy the scenery. The large pool/jacuzzi area has plenty of lounge chairs and shaded seating, a shuffleboard court, a gym, and a banquet room. There is also a large surfing beach with several sturdy palapas for all guests and owners to use. A visit to Las Gaviotas is certainly a treat. I love to relax, enjoy a good book followed by a leisurely walk, then swimming and a relaxing dinner when I visit.

I had to get into the shower and help my mom in as it's a tub with no way in except about 2 feet high and no rails to hold on to. We will definitely be back!!

The views of the mountains, Pacific and Rosarito's Christ of the Sacred Heart statue are beautiful. Fortunately, Ubers are available if you don't have your own vehicle. The chalet is classy, has high quality materials, yet it was very comfortable. The lights were thoughtfully decorated and very tasteful. The scent of the bed linens were absolutely incredible. Our room offered fresh water, a small fridge, an espresso machine, a smart tv with projector, black out blinds and a private fire pit on our balcony. The three chalets have their own shared jacuzzi to use with ocean view and it was heavenly. They offer fresh breakfast à la cart on the upper shared patio or in your room. It has a very quaint community feel there yet you have your own space if you prefer it. Carlos and the ladies working there were very kind and helpful. I'm happy we stayed here and hope to return again in the future!

The host and co-host were incredibly kind, responsive, and accommodating. Knowing we were celebrating our anniversary and hoping for an amazing ocean view, they graciously upgraded us to the Miel Master Suite at no additional charge. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and the ocean views were absolutely breathtaking. The suite itself was immaculate, beautifully designed, and the bed was so comfortable. I honestly can't remember the last time I slept that well! We also loved the shared kitchen, which created such a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was a highlight each morning with the chilaquiles and lavender pancakes were absolutely delicious, and having a nespresso machine in the room was the perfect added touch. We truly can't say enough great things about Native Residence. We loved our stay so much that while we were still there, our close friends booked the exact same suite for their anniversary next month! And just in case you're wondering, yes there's real grasshopper in the sauce, and we all ate grasshopper for the first time. It was basically like a spicy marmalade spread. Duck Breast + Orange Sauce & Burnt Onion Duck meat was tender and sauce paired well. Green Catch of the Day Ceviche + Persian Cucumber & Avocado The ceviche was delicioussss. A simple concoction that looked and tasted great with tortilla chips. Potato Gnocchi +Suckling Pig Sauce, Padua, Zucchini This was also yummy. Chewy, tender. I heard about this place, half winery, half farm-to-table-high end restaurant, with a touch of 'glamping resort' because I had seen the pictures in some glossy mags about how the rich and famous travel. No worries, if I could go and spend the day, you can do it too. Because you really don't need to fork the $400 per minimalist-repurposed materials-beauty meets form factor cute boxes on the rocks. You can just go for the drinks and the food and you make a nice day trip from San Diego. Looks like crossing from Tecate is the easiest and fastest way, at least on the way back. Encuentro used to be called Endemico, and I am glad they changed the name, as it denotes something negative. Something that neither the environment, not the fertile nature nor the grapes are. Wine is abundant and the fruits from the land too. The winery includes 11 acres of mountain vineyards, you will enjoy a wine tasting bar open to the public from 11 am every day and an underground cellar, for which you need to make a group reservation. The vineyards produce Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Blanc and Nebiolo, among other varietals. This is a very peaceful place to be and extremely photogenic, showing all the splendor of the Guadalupe Valley, making great panoramas. Just watch out with the traffic...not the best drivers around there!
