The staff called me and told me that they were switching my meds without my approval and then instructed me to take an extended release pill 3 TIMES a day!!!!! Then I was told the doctor would call me. Instead someone from "downstairs" called me and told me that she'd hang up on me because I was upset... to which she did. They are ridiculous here. I have to call multiple times a month to reschedule their cancelled appointments, get refills on all of my meds (even the ones that are meant to be taken everyday non stop), to dispute charges, and to force them to run my insurance. They were going to charge me out of pocket when I have insurance because they couldn't figure out how to bill the visit. This went on for months!! Terrible place. The doctor is smart and seems to know what she's talking about but she lost all respect from me when she changed my meds without my approval or even knowledge and refused to call me to discuss. Even an on call employee told me to get away from this place!!! Please don't use this facility!!!!!

Dr. Makim changed and eliminated meds, and within that 1 year, my son grew close to a foot taller and had his amazing personality back. With me, in Jan. 2021, I got Long-COVID and my mental health completely bottomed out for about a year. At that time, Dr. Makim insisted on FaceTime visits ONLY! (This was when the world was shut down due to Covid 19.) He insisted on being able to SEE me and made his diagnostic advices and treatments based on not just my voice and words, but also on how I appeared. I feel like he saved my life. I KNOW that he saved my life!! Outside of the doctors care is the business side. Some of their policies are a little strange, and sometimes the staff seems off, but they are always friendly, efficient, and none of us has ever waited more then 10 minutes - if we wait at all.

He was very stoic and would pass judgement on me using cannabis at the time to help get through it. Instead of listening to my formal previous diagnosis of PTSD and binge eating disorder, his inability to connect or care about a black person left me with only the diagnosis of Bipolar (I have stable moods, I was literally experiencing mania due to being on a high amount of a antidepressant and I was in a state of panic due to being alone in a new state- something he chose to not acknowledge). Not only that but the only other diagnosis was Obesity. He did not help me, only was in it for the money. He would grunt when being asked to do calls instead of seeing him in person because of how uncomfortable he made me due to being insensitive and because I worked multiple jobs to *survive. He would rush me off the phone and in appointments and didn't care to empathize my lack of financial literacy and why I was having trouble with my life insurance. He offered no solutions, only made me see him every month then every 3 months for my medicine. He was not kind, did not try his best to help me, offer solutions or be empathetic and make me feel comfortable and seen. I regret wasting my money and time seeing him and wish I had chosen someone who cared more about helping me and diagnosing in a way to create a treatment plan instead of just for money and to meet a quota.

When I feel like something's not working for my oldest we work together to get things right. We dont always agree on things but she will listen to my thoughts and we talk about why she feels the medication she wants to give and if I still dont agree she doesn't push the issue and we move on too the next. I like that she takes into consideration that I'm with my children daily and works with me to get things right. My oldest it took sometime to find the right medication cause she has complex diagnoses. I couldn't ask for a better doctor and I would drive hours to see her. When she decided to retire I don't know what I'm going to do. I recommend everyone that asks about needed a doctor in the profession to give her a call.

So, I asked her, since I DID NOT SIGN that it would be EXTRA, I'm not paying it or I'm calling Cigna. She legit said "You can call your insurance, it won't do anything. We charge this to every patient every time." I asked her to send me the paper where I signed it and she said she didn't have anything that I signed for extra services. So. I called Cigna, who is now in turn, OPENING AN INVESTIGATION on ALL claims because they are NOT ALLOWED to charge patients for something extra without disclosing pricing. The agent told me that should ALL BE COVERED in that $320 office visit. She herself tried to call and they kept hanging up on her. So, she got to see how they did AND is extremely interested in seeing how many other people they charged extra. Check your medical bills. They try to get you ANY way they can.
