The International School of Indiana promises many things. However many other schools provide the…read moresame education at a more valuable level for the student. For example here, they have chairs that do not form to their backs, they are fed frozen food in small portions. While University has fresh sushi and pizza ordered for lunch, or Cathedral has freshly fried food and swivel chairs. Out of 62 students, 51 said their backs hurt at the end of the day, and 56 said they were still hungry. For a school that prides itself on how hard it works its students. Maybe they should be more concerned about making the learning environment more comfortable, to encourage learning. If your student NEEDS an IB diploma please send them somewhere where they care. It hurts to hear your daughter say she feels like a ghost. I feel like my kids are not being taken care of. Oh and don't get me started on their "diversity" SEE BELOW "A meme that I got sent (showed) a picture of someone holding a cotton plant and under it was (the words) 'When you ask a black girl to prom,'" said Gabby Portis, 15, a freshman at International School of Indiana. https://www.wishtv.com/news/i-team-8/mom-to-pull-child-from-international-school-of-indiana-amid-racists-attacks/

I give it an average star rating because these days is just a costly version of any typical, yet capable public school with the addition of arrogance in their approach.

All three of our children attended The Orchard School. We are very pleased with the education they…read morereceived and so are they. I've often tried to sift through all our years and determine what they most learned/received at Orchard and if I had to pick one attribute (and there are many), I'd pick confidence. They are all confident public speakers. For example, when my daughter was a junior in high school, she won an award that required her to speak at a dinner with over 400 people present. I tried several times to get her to practice and review her speech in advance, knowing that the previous recipient had a professional speech writer. In frustration, one evening she said, "Mom, I went to Orchard. Don't worry." She delivered a flawless speech without notes. They are all confident about their ability to learn. Orchard likes to say they help create lifelong learners and they do. Each of our children knows how to learn and they like to learn. They are all confident expressing themselves to anyone. In high school, their teachers observed that unlike many shy teens they were not afraid to ask questions and advocate for themselves or for others. And, this has continued throughout their college and post-graduate years. Orchard invites and teaches children how to respectfully approach adults. At Orchard, education is not just about science, English, history, etc. While these are important, it's also about helping develop good people and preparing them for the future.

She was extremely anxious about tests, wasn't understanding what they were covering in class, and had gotten an F on a test. Once that happened, I knew we needed to get some help. In just 2 months of once a week sessions with Kelly, she's come such a long way. She feels more confident, doesn't suffer from as much test anxiety, and she got an A on her last test before finals and a B on her semester final! Kelly is so good at breaking down complex problems and explaining things in a way that make sense. My daughter always says the hour goes by quickly because she's actually enjoying math. That's money well spent right there! And she also has the cutest dog who is sometimes there as well. If your child is struggling in any class, I highly recommend Kelly. I know they do tutoring for many different subjects, plus SAT and ACT prep.

As a raising senior, I have to say that the Kelley School of Business prepared me to enter the work…read moreforce. There are plenty of resources (such as the career fair) to find the internships that you are looking for. They also offer several scholarships that anyone can apply. The classrooms are usually capped at 25 students, which is awesome because it enabled me to have deeper discussions as I built relationships not only with the other students, but also with the professors. They have a big project called I-core that integrates 4 different classes at the same time. In this project, you are assigned a team in the beginning of the semester to analyze a small business in Indy. Therefore, you work side by side with the company and your team's goal is to come up with a business idea to help this business grow. The only reason why I am not giving Kelley a five stars review is because of their inflexibility. As an international student, I had to go back home to renew my passport and I would have to miss two days of class in the beginning of the semester. Since I was enrolled in I-core, the school requires you to attend every single class in the first week. I emailed them explaining my situation and they told me that if I missed the first day of classes, they would withdraw me from the course, which would push back my graduation date. Luckily, my passport was ready on time and I didn't have to miss any classes, but I thought that was very inflexible and detrimental to some students, Specially because there wasn't anything super important in that first week of classes. Other than that, the professors are usually very well prepared and a great connection as they are usually employed in the field that they are teaching.

Being a senior who is just about to graduate from Kelley here in December, I would have to say…read morethat this is a pretty top-notch school. While I cannot quite give it five stars, Kelley has certainly done a fantastic job of preparing me to enter the business community through real world examples, rigorous course projects that work side by side with Indiana business owners, and by employing professors who are not only experts, but are also (usually) employed outside of the school in their chosen field. If you are currently researching which business school in Indianapolis to attend, I would strongly urge you to look into Kelley. After laying the initial ground-work through pre-requisite classes, Kelley students go through a program known as I-Core. During this semester, students are given a group of classes which work in conjunction with one another. These class center around a project in which students are assigned a team and asked to work with a local business. Throughout the semester students will undergo a set of five deliverables which cover subjects such as finance, operations and supply chain, marketing, and team building. What stops Kelley, or rather IUPUI, from recieving a 5 star rating is the level of difficulty one can have navigating payment schedules and the online app known as OnCourse. This system is notorious for shutting down, requiring lengthy passwords, and for failing to submit homework to the professor. Despite this, I would still strongly urge any Yelpers out there seeking a business degree to put Kelley at the top of your list.

I had searched online for a somatic therapist and connected with a woman who happened to be working…read morewith CTS. We have now been working together for nearly 2.5 years and my experience with her has been life changing. However, I have had some major frustrations with the office side of the organization. There are also some policies that can greatly affect a person with state insurance that are not given up front. It was pretty smooth sailing for quite some time. Before Covid, the receptionist was very kind and warm. Now, all sessions are online, indefinitely, and only a recording answers the phone. For some time, the only thing I really despised was the tiny bathroom available to clients that always seemed dirty...if they ever reopen, they should redo that closet of a bathroom. After about a year of working together, I was warned that my therapist would be gaining her license soon and that they do not accept state insurance for their licensed level tier of therapists. CTS is listed as a "training center for master's degree students and post-graduate counseling residents." My therapist had moved here from Colorado and was practicing at CTS to earn licensure in Indiana. So she was already experienced and I was making great progress with her help. I was not interested in starting over with a student/resident. To continue, we scaled back on the frequency of my sessions so I could afford to pay cash. I see this being extremely problematic for those without the means to finance their own mental health, after they've bonded with a therapist. The most concerning thing, that has affected me most, is their failure to comply with multiple requests from Social Security for my disability claim. Even after they insisted they had sent the requested records, but hadn't, they became pushy about me resubmitting their online release of information form and a copy of my drivers license because "they lost the original." For the sake of a chance at them submitting the paperwork in my appeal, I did so, but...I'm still salty about it. As with any counseling "center," your experience is going to vary greatly according to your situation and the therapist you choose. Here, the business end could use some improvement.

I've long been familiar with the Christian Theological Seminary Counseling Center, a clinical…read moresetting designed to provide a training ground for CTS's master's level students and post-graduate counseling residents who are part of CTS's COAMFTE accredited Marriage and Family Therapy program and Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Fees for services with graduate interns are on a sliding scale and are typically discussed in the first session. The counseling center is located on the South end of the Butler University campus. It's worth noting that CTS sold its land and buildings to Butler University and is now actually renting its spaces. I've gone to CTS's counseling center more than once - partly because I appreciate its spiritual core and partly because of the aforementioned sliding scale counseling services. Due to the pandemic, CTS is limited to telehealth appointments at this time. As most churches are starting to open up, here's hoping that they return to at least a hybrid arrangement in the near future. Christian Theological Seminary is a Disciples of Christ seminary. It leans toward a more progressive theology, though it certainly embraces the full spectrum. That said, I think a lot of folks would be surprised that at a seminary counseling center you can definitely find counselors/therapists willing to and quite skilled at dealing with a wide variety of issues. I've typically found the counseling center to offer a diverse staff. They try to honor requests - for example, as a sexual assault survivor I tend to prefer working with women. I've typically not had difficulty having that request honored. All of the interns are supervised. They may or may not ask you if they can hold sessions in a room that has a one-way mirror (supervisors may observe from the other side). I've never been comfortable with this - that discomfort has always been honored. The counseling center used to actually be within the seminary, though it was moved into its current setting years ago. I've never been quite as comfortable in the current setting - it's not particularly as wheelchair friendly and the bathroom is abysmal. CTS sees clients without regard to race, color, religion/creed, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, marital status, etc. This is consistent with Disciples of Christ. The counseling center has been around since 1967. It's fully accredited as are the CTS counseling programs. I find the CTS counseling center to be one of Indy's better affordable counseling options, though it's certainly not flawless. It's primarily geared toward shorter term counseling issues (once interns become licensed, they no longer work on sliding scale and/or will graduate and move away). While this typically takes 2-3 years, for those looking for a long-term relationship that's less likely here (This is generally true of affordable counseling - # of sessions is important and missed sessions can easily lead to termination of services). The counseling center offers a variety of groups. It does not offer walk-ins or crisis services. They also do not offer medications. Therapists are very good at identifying if someone's needs are outside their scope and will assist in arranging appropriate referrals if needed. Over the years, I've worked with 3 different therapists here. 2 of the 3 were wonderful experiences. The third was, perhaps, less stellar of an arrangement but I'd still consider it good. Overall, I'd consider the CTS Counseling Center one of Indy's better kept secrets for affordable counseling. While the scope is somewhat limited and there are some accessibility concerns (for in-person counseling), I've always felt cared about with my therapists and had good experiences working on issues important to my healing and wellness.
