This Marian University campus is huge! Was founded in 1851 by the sisters of St Francis. It's is a private Catholic university. They service undergraduate and graduate students in courses earning degrees in the arts, business, education, engineering, math, medicine, nursing, ministry, and the natural and physical sciences. They welcome students of all faiths who seek an education or furthering their education. The camp My cousin attended college here under enrolled under the Accelerated Nursing programs. I would visit here every now and then. The Cauthen Café is a Starbucks located in the Cauthen Media Center in the heart of campus which serves a full line of Starbucks expresso drinks, pastries, sandwiches and salads. I think this is pretty cool. I've had an opportunity to try them twice. The campus is clean, nice and surrounded by nature. There are two residences that had refused to sell their home/land to the university so they built around them. I believe the coolest part of that is they do not have any other residential neighborhoods LOL! Both houses are literally on the campus. Overall, this is a beautiful campus. Great small Catholic University in Indianapolis. We are here for a football game at the stadium holder school, but they seem to keep things up nicely and continue to build on a regular basis. They have a strong athletic programs as well as academic with a Christian based education. read more

Came to see the Indianapolis men's chorus. Fast moving well programmed Christmas Show. Facility & sound was great. Scene changes on point. The only problem was determining where the theater was within the University. First time there so I was very unsure and had a very hard time locating the theater. read more

Need a degree? Have weird motivational patterns? A part time job? Marian is the place you can go. The catch is, you have to GO- at this school, if you miss class, you get a phone call. "Where ya at man?" "Comin to class?" and such.... My four years in vocal performance study has improved me in a few major ways. Here's the PROS: -Skills as a singer and pianist -Morality and values -Relationship with God increases heavily -Well-roundedness -Leadership mentality -They will correct your attitude, if you're a snob like I was -Flexibility, understanding. There are therapists on staff and if you've got the energy to whine, they'll email all your teachers and tell them to accept your work when you're ready. Awesome. :) Haha. -The "Marian Police" only give out fake tickets.... ... no matter WHAT you do. -Not shy with scholarship money. 21st century scholar friendly. I feel I missed out on some things too. CONS: -No Friends in my field [small school]. -The surrounding neighborhood is deplorable.... -Food on campus, laundry, residence life staff, all garbage -Specialized training in your field is probably lacking. -Fewer majors. -Ultra-conservative. -Parking situation? Tragic -Expensive as hell I could go on but I really have to start on this Asian Philosophy paper due tomorrow. Yeah, I'm taking that as a music major. Yeah, it was very against my will. I want to write a review for this school because it is a fantastic school and is too harshly graded by another yelper. Attending Marian University for my undergrad was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! If you want to attend a close-knit caring cozy community that cares about you as an individual: GO HERE! The people that I have met here I will carry with me throughout my whole life. The faculty and staff at Marian want you to succeed. I have been able to find my talents, strengths, and myself while attending this school. There are many opportunities and activities to get involved in at the school, you must be open to them. Marian is fun and active and making history--this school continues to grow and grow. This school is generous with scholarships. This is a faith-filled community and it shows through everyone's loving acts. I could go on and on about how wonderful this school is, but I have finals to study for. read more

This review is for Marian's Graduate Nursing program, specifically DNP. This includes the CRNA track as well as the DNP track. This is a new program which is a disaster. In 1.5 years, 2 directors, and 2 faculty members have left the university. Most classes are taught by instructors who do not possess a doctorate degree nor do they have any teaching experience at any level. Instructors should not teach at level above their own degree. The students that will be graduating from these program will not be prepared to pass board exams.The instructors' inexperience does not support a student's success. To moderately survive this program, you have to purchase extra materials to fill in the gaps.This program is extremely expensive, one would expect a high quality education. You will not get that at Marian. The Christian values that the university is built on are not portrayed in this program. Note: I do not have any experience with the undergrad programs. I obtained an ASN degree there in 1995 as a married woman with two children. This university is an excellent learning institution. I had great respect for all my professors but most memorable was Professor Pedtke (sp) who made us crawl out of our ignorant cave in Philosophy which was my favorite course. This school has Fucked me over more times than I can count and this is only my first year. I am here to get my bachelors of science in nursing and when it came time to take the entrance exam, they handed out a long list of requirements that had to be completed prior to taking. These are requirements that would take months to complete but they decided to wait until the week before midterms and two weeks before spring break and one month before the exam. There was no mentions of this prior. when meeting with my advisor, who has been completely useless this entire year, her answer was "this is just how we've always done it." not to mentions the list of TERRIBLE professors that they hire to screw you over. It's like they want to see you fail. I would never recommend this school to anyone! If you are looking for a school, you'd be better off at community college! read more
