The alleged pina colada was bland and watery, with plenty of unblended ice remaining in the bottom of the glass. (This latter was a mixed curse; had they succeeded in blending it fully, it is doubtful that even the faintest trace of the presumably-artificial coconut flavouring would have remained.) Wireless is free and surprisingly fast (12Mbps download, 768kbps upload), but disappointingly unreliable; if you don't know how to bypass a DHCP server by sniffing network traffic and then manually configuring an IP address, then don't expect it to work for you. There is no sign of available power. Despite the "free wireless" advertised in the windows, this really isn't set up to be somewhere you can work comfortably, which leaves me wondering why it stays open all afternoon.

I had with me an egg that I had stolen from Pizza Express. Yes a hen's egg. I vowed to love, nurture and cherish this gift of life, insisting it would one day hatch. The egg was a talking point with friendly punters and sadly as I placed her on the bar to photograph her, she rolled off, smashing beneath my platforms. The manager quickly came to the floors aid and scooped up the mess, with me saying "who would bring an egg to a lovely place like this?" in his ear hole. Ahem. We got served quickly, even though the bar area is tiny and were produced with a fantastic passion fruit cocktail with a shot of expensive champagne. Later I had a shot of tequila and an 80's Pina Colada which I have to say was the best I'd ever had. Even after real ones in Cuba. Music was current, cool and loud and I managed to burst into the VIP section and get brought some drinks for myself and the other two darling Nicola's. Result. When the plate, yup...not a bowl, arrived (don or donburi literally means "bowl" in Japanese) I knew this was not going to even be close to traditional Katsudon. There was no broth. The broth is critical to create the sweet and umami flavor of Katsudon. It is traditionally made with dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar in a shallow pan called a donburi pan. The rice, egg and pork were all separated on a plate. The pork was overly deep fried to extra crispy and drizzled with Tankatsu sauce. So, no bowl, no broth to soak into the breading of the pork and wrong sauce...nope, not even close to the flavor of traditional Katsudon, so I cannot recommend this item. Anyway, the sushi was okay. The restaurant was clean and service prompt and friendly.
