Just wanted to write a review / update to make sure others know that they've moved - They moved to 4180 Austell Rd #105, Austell, GA 30106. (The old location now houses Ivett's Dominican Barber Shop.) The new location is in a plaza with Get Nailed, Papa John's, JR Cricket's and Massage Envy. They are in the parking lot of Kohl's at that intersection of Austell Rd and EW Connector. They new spot is lovely with more space and more shampoo bowls. I also like the convenience of being able to pop next door for a mani / pedi before or after my shampoo. I don't wear lashes, but I found out they now offer lashes and brow tinting though I think it might be by appointment only right now. I went to this hair salon last weekend to get a regular trim I didn't want too much cut off because I had a big event the next day I just want my ends cut. The lady who cut my hair cut extremely to much after I had asked her not too. The owner on the other hand was very rude she wouldnt talk to me directly she would use another lady to pass the message to while we were all standing pretty close to each other, that should've been my sign not to sit in her chair. I love this place. As long as the service continues, this will be my primary, forever hairstylist I wish I had found this place first. I went to a place that said that they did Dominican blow-outs, they didn't and jacked up my hair I went here and they had to correct the cut that was given to me by the other hair place (that is about as nice as I will term they last place). Anywhoo they correct the hair cut and I have been going regularly about 3 months now. Gave me an amazing Red color to boot. Always professional.. COVID-19 review - don't do it! Safety first!!! I love this place...but masks are being worn as chin straps, stylists rubbing their faces and noses and Ivett is up front at the desk coughing...with a mask on...kinda... Then you have the male visitors who feel that it's ok to be in the shop without masks...apparently no problem as far as Ivette is concerned...smh! I had to cut the visit short and roll out before it was too late!!! SIDE EYE!!! This experience was a hot mess. I'll be back when COVID-19 is gone. I entered with my natural Afro-curly & exited 2hrs later donning china doll straight hair. Dominican blow out is not for the faint of heart- Let me elaborate on how the sausage is made. Thorough wash, really cleanses the scalp. Wet hair drys in rollers- 30min Hair gets blow dryed. Hair gets pressed. Then pressed again. Throughout the process I sat mute as she pressed my hair thrice over! I cringed thinking of the heat damage I'd be confronted with- but I let the woman finish. Service: please expect some light linguistic barriers. As a non Spanish speaker, I could express myself well enough but if I was requesting a complicated style I could foresee issues. I have gotten my hair done here a total of three times. The first two were great, I was in and out and my hair looked very nice and healthy. The third time I went in December of 2019, the older lady that works in the shop took it upon herself to put relaxer in my hair. I was unaware of this because it was mixed into the shampoo and it didn't sit on my head long enough to start burning. My hair broke off from the root in the thickest part of my head. If you have 4b hair or thicker, I would advise you NOT to get your hair done at Ivette's. read more

I called on a Saturday at 4:45pm to see what time they closed. I was told 6pm and to come on (after I confirmed I was on Austell Rd). I went in and was seated for my wash to begin. I was asked if I wanted deep conditioner, even though there wasn't much time. I said yes please and it was done. There was no rushing any of my services and I came out looking greater than usual. Great customer service, fast and good work. I had my hair washed, conditioned and cut and put under the dryer and styled. The salon is also very clean and modern looking. Update: my hair looked great when blown out and curled. Once I washed it, it looked like a mop head. The layers are terrible and look like someone took a box cutter to them. She also cut about 6 inches of hair!! I barely have enough hair for a real pony tail. I can see how this salon is good for certain types of hair and treatments. However, this is by far the worst hair cut for someone like me with wavy/curly hair who likes to wear her hair natural and needs a cut that looks good without being straightened and curled. read more

I just tried this salon yesterday for the first time after searching for a Dominican salon with decent reviews. My experience was awesome! The only reason I'm giving only 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lady they had washing hair. I mean she got my hair super clean but she was very heavy handed and she combed my hair from top to bottom (which hurt like hell & she probably pulled out some of my hair in the process) instead of bottom to top. I knew it wasn't just me when I saw another girl getting her hair washed making faces like she was uncomfortable. Also, I came in at 11:45am & didn't leave until 3pm because they left me under the dryer for the longest. Other than those things, I will be going back & hopefully someone tells ole girl washing the hair to be a little more gentle with people's heads. read more

This was my 1st time going to this salon. I called on a Friday around 1:45pm to see if there was a wait and was told there wasn't. I got there in about 30 minutes and they took me right away. They weren't busy like most Dominican Salons I've been to and I was in and out in less than 2 hours. Everyone did a great job, from the shampoo girl to the lady that did my blow out and curl. Awesome, awesome hair salon!! I just left here and my hair is perfect! My normal hair stylist canceled mid hair (she started feeling sick) and I was left with very limited options with a flight coming up in a few hours. I called Ivett's Salon and not only did they find time to seat me they got me in and out in an hour. Julie did an amazing job on my hair and I couldn't have asked for more. Then I found Diana who has styled my natural hair through all of my changes. From shoulder length straight to my cute, short curly pixie cut. Thanks to the previous reviews I decided to give this place a shot. I do not regret my choice! Ivett gave me the best head wash/massage and Mariel was amazing at blow drying/flat ironing my hair. She took her time as she flat ironed my hair. Normally at other places they take bigger chunks of hair to flat iron to finish quicker, but not Mariel she took small portions as she patiently finished. End result? Silky hair! I haven't felt my hair this smooth in such a long time. Mariel's interest in getting my hair healthy again, offering me tips and suggestions did not go unnoticed. Definitely my new fave place! I looooooove Ivett!!! I've been going to her salon since 2010 and have NEVER let anyone else touch my hair since. I'm natural and only get my hair flat ironed about 3x per year, and I have never lost my curl pattern, had dry or brittle hair after wearing it straight, or incurred any damage to my strands! read more
