Will is the best staff member! You can tell he'll go out of his way to serve you and was so friendly and energetic. I'm sure today was a busy work day as well since it's Ash Wednesday! Food was as expected, good. I like that Ivar's clam chowder still has a good amount of clams and isn't just creamy soup. So many sauce options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They played great music tonight too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A local fast casual concept where both food and service are pretty good! Ivar's Seafood is one of the more famous spots at Seattle's Pikes Place market, and it's popped up in about a couple dozen spots along the Seattle metro area, including this one in Burien. Located opposite a small strip mall shopping area, there's plenty of parking outside. Walking into the restaurant, the ordering counter is directly to the back, with menu placed above. The staff were friendly and gave us time to decide, and were helpful in directing us to where the water dispenser and sauce pumps were located. After taking our order, they give you a table marker with a number and you can select your own seats. You also bus your own tables after eating. Decor has a bit of a nautical theme considering it's a seafood joint, with blue colors and light wood accents. Individual tables or booths are the seating choices. Food came out about 10-15 minutes after ordering, I really enjoyed the fish tacos, there was a fair amount of fish cooked and seasoned well and the coleslaw paired nicely. The use of soft taco shells made it easier to eat too. The salsa for the chips tasted pretty generic store-bought though for this caliber of restaurant it was fine enough. The fried fish and chips were also yummy! They come in a variety of combos with a different number of pieces depending on how hungry you are, which is a nice touch. The fish was crispy on the outside and didn't feel overly greasy. The fries were also good, just crisp enough and not soggy in the least bit. I'll be back for sure when I'm in the area and in the mood for seafood. I've had their chowder at Pike's Place a while ago and recall that being tasty too.

    Seafood Dinner time! 5/26/24

I enjoy eating the seafood at Ivar's. I enjoy the modern aesthetics and ambiance of this location, especially. I noticed that there's a minimal crew that work here and they work efficiently, in an organized fashion and have a sense of urgency. I brought my uncle here on 5/26/24 try for the first time. My uncle got the seafood combo and chips deal $15 .00 plus a large bowl of chowder. $7.50. I got the three piece fish n chips $12.50 and call cup of chowder $5.25. Service was excellent. There were two servers that would check on us and ask if there was anything we needed. The only negative currently are that the portions for the cod fish and chips have significantly reduced in size. They used to be pretty huge. My uncle loved it so much that we ate here again the following day, but in the Puyallup location.

The BURIEN Location is great! Had a great B day salmon dinner tonight. KAT runs the register very efficiently. Sean you're you are upbeat and a great person. Mario cooked my salmon perfectly! Thanks again!

    Halibut 'N Chips
    Tawfiq A.

The cost was $20 for fish and chips - halibut. This is what I got for $20. Mid level fries and 3 small pieces of halibut. You decide if it's enough for tht price. They need to at least throw in a side/dessert. Addendum - I decided to come back and edit this review. Increased it to a 2 star rating. Everything I said above remains true. The meal size if sufficient for one person. Price is wild. Taste of the halibut was dry. Breading unseasoned. Might as well not have been there at all. Fries were mid. Kinda cold. To warrant the price, they need to add a side to the meal, and season the fish - better breading.

My husband and I were visiting the Burien Farmer's Market and decided to stop in for lunch here. The day before our area experienced a heat wave. Apparently this effected this place of business. There were fans going everywhere, no a/c in place; I was hesitant to enter and I should have gone with my instincts. It wasn't awful so that we couldn't stand it, so we stayed. We had a very friendly waitress, wish I could remember her name but she was very good. I ordered a peach tea and my husband ordered a cider, I believe it was pineapple and another fruit based. I ordered the Ahi Taco Wrap and my husband ordered the Luna Fish and Chips. My husband's drink arrived with an apology from another server as she poured the wrong drink for him. He was gracious and took it anyway. Out come our plates. I tasted my husbands fish and found it seriously lacking in flavor; nothing great here. Now let's get to my Ahi wrap; I had serious issues with this. This includes tuna, avocado, cilantro lime coleslaw with chipotle aioli and lime on the side. House made chips and salsa were included. The wrap was hugely disappointing. The ratio of tuna to coleslaw was seriously off. 90 percent of this wrap was coleslaw. The chips weren't fresh and the salsa was just ok, had a sweet type of base, which I don't like in my salsa. The lime included was stale and I couldn't get a drop out of this. The chipotle was so so. The coleslaw had no distinctive cilantro lime flavor. This dish was entirely disappointing and priced at 19.95. Never again. My husband's dish had two pieces of fish and was priced at 18.50. So after the cost of the drinks, the meal was over 60. Shame on us for a few things: 1. For not looking closely at the prices 2. And for most importantly, for simply not grabbing a decently priced hot dog at the farmers market. I'm positive this would have been better and a better deal. We will not be back to this place. The only reason I gave this a one star was for the waitress and the peach tea. Seriously.

My biggest issue, is how well the seafood is cleaned. During my last visit, I noticed that non of the shrimp was cleaned. That grossed me out. If I went again, would avoid getting that. I recently had the catfish poboy. It was just okay. It looked better than it tasted. I can't put my finger on why it wasn't that great, but it was just very "meh". The fries were really good though. Services is okay. They always seem to struggle with service, regardless of how busy the place is. But they are nice. Ambience is what you'd expect at a place like this. Nothing spectacular, but not dirty. I would love if they had a better ventilation system. The friend smells and spices are extremely strong! Overall, a solid restaurant, but if you're looking for a place with high quality seafood, may want to find another spot.

After 7 nights of cruise food, we were ready to try something new and local. Sharp's was only 5 minutes from our hotel, and highly rated, so I figured we would give it a shot. We arrived at the restaurant to a full parking lot with people standing outside. However, when we went in, the wonderful hostess informed us there was no wait. The seater showed us to our table, and chatted with us about our day along the way. He also explained the 3 menus that he gave us, and informed us we were right in time for happy hour. Our server, Sam, greeted us promptly, and she was so incredibly welcoming to our family, answering questions about the menu items. It was so hard to decide what to order, so we ordered several small plates (Brisket nachos, Wings, Brisket tacos, fries, and mac and cheese, along with the complimentary cornbread). To our surprise, everything came out so quickly. This was probably the fastest service I've ever had at a restaurant. The servers who delivered our food were friendly and welcoming as well. Not only that, EVERYTHING we ate was phenomenal. The fries were flavorful and perfectly salted, the wings were fantastic, and the brisket nachos? Wow....the brisket was some of the best we've ever had, and the nacho chips even stood out. The biggest compliment is from our 15 year old who said that the mac and cheese is some of the best pasta she's ever had. Throughout the whole meal, Sam was so attentive and chatting with us about the restaurant and dessert options. I truly enjoyed everything about our experience. The food and service both were top notch. The only thing I didn't like about this restaurant is that I'll have to book another flight to Seattle from Michigan to eat there. I'll be recommending it to everyone I know though!

The lobster was unfortunately an overcooked, but everything else in the boil was so good that it made up for it. Speaking of the sauce -- it was SO good. We got to choose our sauce and spice level, and it had the perfect balance of flavor, spice, and heat without overpowering the seafood. It complemented everything really well. We also ordered the calamari. It was crispy, but the batter was a bit heavy and could've used more seasoning. This was, by far, the worst dining experience I've ever had…read more The only thing we genuinely enjoyed was the popcorn crawfish appetizer with the spicy mayo dipping sauce. Unfortunately, everything after that went downhill. I ordered a seafood boil with Manila clams and shrimp, and both were undercooked. The shrimp had that soft, mushy, almost translucent texture instead of being firm with the slight snap that properly cooked shrimp should have. Every bite was unpleasant, and I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The Manila clams were even worse. They were covered in a slimy coating that made them feel unappetizing the moment I picked them up. The texture alone was enough to make me stop eating them, but the taste was just as bad. Instead of tasting fresh, sweet, and briny, they had an unpleasant flavor that made me question whether they had been prepared properly. I couldn't finish them. To make matters worse, there were gnats flying around our booth throughout the entire meal, especially all along the booth panels where my cousin and I were sitting. It made the restaurant feel unclean and completely took away from the dining experience. When we brought the undercooked seafood to the manager's attention, we were given two options: they could take the food back and "put it back in the water" to cook it longer, or we could take it home and cook it ourselves in exchange for a discount. Since we had already started eating and didn't feel comfortable having our meal simply thrown back into the pot, we chose to take it home and finish cooking it ourselves. The "discount" ended up being just $10.99. For a meal that wasn't properly cooked and that I literally had to finish cooking at home, that resolution felt completely inadequate. I paid to dine at a restaurant, not to go home and prepare my own meal. On top of the food quality issues, the customer service was disappointing. There was very little effort to make the situation right, and the way the complaint was handled felt dismissive. I usually drive an hour to Captain Crab because I've always had consistently great experiences there. I decided to try somewhere different this time, and it was a mistake. This experience reminded me why I don't mind making the drive. I won't be returning.

There was no hint of gross "fishy" smell before or after eating. (To make your salmon last longer, may I suggest enjoying your salmon with rice and veggies, or in a sandwich?)
