AND being on the Cape, especially because a lot of the summer help is rotating or temporary, I wasn't sure we would find a reliable or responsible crew. However, from the onset, (unlike the 4 other cleaning services we interviewed) Clem, the owner of E3C Services, was ready to please, highly responsive, communicative, reliable, professional and reasonable . Clem worked with us to understand our cleaning needs and remained open and flexible to accommodate - we have five different family's that use our home during the summer (all with different timelines and needs) so this was key and so appreciated! Ok ok - probably MOST IMPORTANTLY - Clem and his crew work very hard and leave your home shiny and spotless! We agreed to a five hour first time spring clean and not one surface or corner was overlooked. Clem and his crew cleaned walls, baseboards, floors, sills, objects, ceilings, inside oven , cabinets, behind furniture and of course the usual suspects - kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, floors. Clem will bring everything including vacuum, mop, cleaning products, but will use anything you provide (which I preferred diff products etc., in some instances). I knew where everything was in the mess , but I did not have a system I could easily maintain. I rotate through a ton of skincare, body care, hair care, dental, fragrance, and other personal care products depending on my needs. Before, they were mostly sectioned-off piles. Wal (pronounced Val) sorted everything by category, placed less-used products and back stock in the back, and kept the things I reach for most in the front. The team also bought clear bins that fit the space, including sliding bins I can easily pull out and taller bins for shampoos, conditioners, and other bottles. This was especially helpful with the wire shelving in my rental. Now everything is grouped together, visible, and easy to access. I can also refine the system over time as I use it and getting ready flows now. Wal and I collaborated on what I wanted to keep and how I needed the space to function. The team also organized under my sink, where I prefer to keep only cleaning products, foot care, and toilet paper. That preference was respected. Rose's team worked with my budget, and Wal has become my ace for projects like this . I already have more spaces I'm excited to hire the team for. I spoke to Jim on the phone to book the service, and he was really friendly and helpful. He said his wife Rose would be in touch with a quote after I texted some pictures of the room. I don't know who I was texting with in the end. They quoted me $100. The two workers arrived right on time, were very polite, and did a beautiful job! However, they spoke no English and used a phone app to communicate. (You speak into the phone, they read the Portuguese that's generated, then they speak into the phone and it spits out English. Who knows how accurate it is.) I lived in a foreign country for 6 years and while I wasn't fluent, I had basic proficiency in the language... admittedly I worked in an industry where people spoke English, but for day-to-day things I was glad I could read and handle basic conversations. (This was pre-smart phone.) I'd love to hire Rose's Cleaning for their organizing service, but can't imagine how you'd do that with someone you couldn't talk to. They get good reviews for that, so maybe I'll try it. I'm skeptical but interested. If all you need is cleaning it probably doesn't matter that you can't communicate without a phone translator. Their work was beautiful and they were punctual and polite. All of that is great. I'm glad they could fit us in!

A list of turnover duties was agreed to, and even printed up (in Portuguese!) for the weekly crew to review. NOTHING was done on the list, almost as if it had been deliberately ignored - things like fresh toiletries put out, bed covers rotated, fresh soaps, TP, paper towels etc. put out from the supply we had laid in before the summer. We returned after the final cleaning to find the floors filthy, as if there had been no mopping ever. We spent two days doing remedial housecleaning - vacuuming the carpet in just one room filled the vacuum canister. Cookware was disgusting and scattered helter-skelter. Furniture and decor was misplaced, despite our leaving photographs of each room as it should be and asking them to refer to them weekly. In several years of summer renting, this was the third service we tried, and by far the worst.

We engaged Clean to Shine (Branca) to perform cleaning services at our home this season, after our…read moreprevious cleaner moved. We are Senior snowbirds and the residence has no children or animals. The first cleaning was a deep cleaning with four employees cleaning our home. They spent a total of about 5 hours cleaning and did a good job, although they threw out the outside remote to the atomic clock in our bedroom that displays the inside and outside temperature on the ceiling in the evening. It was located on the sill between the window and screen and cost $45.00 to replace. The first regular cleaning was last week and it was a disaster. Branca sent two employees neither of whom spoke much English, despite Branca assuring us that the two teams they would be sending always had someone who spoke English. Communication was on a phone conversion that translated from English to Portuguese and vise versa. They arrived two hours later than scheduled, spent 1 hour and 7 minutes cleaning and did a down and dirty job. The total time for the cleaning of our home was 2 1/4 hours. We have had our home cleaned for over 15 years and it has never been completed in less than 3 1/2 hours of cleaning time and it usually takes 4 hours+. As they arrived some 2 hours after scheduled, they may have been attempting to catch up on their schedule for the day. While the cleaning performed was not up to normal standards, the major issue, and the reason we terminated Clean to Shine was that one of the employees destroyed the globe on a torch light in our living room. This globe was never removed by previous cleaners over the past 15 years, and to remove the globe you MUST remove the light bulb and the anchor clamp. There is no reason to do this and it is simply a case of dusting the inside of the globe as is. The employee yanked the globe up to remove it without removing the bulb or anchor. The globe shattered due to this action. The cost of replacement was $55.00 and we had to buy two replacement globes as there were two matching lamps. Total cost with tax was $115.00 In addition to the destroyed lamp globe an employee cleaned the TV remote and in doing so changed all the remote settings so the TV could not be operated. It took a Comcast employee 1 hour to get the TV back on line. When we contacted Branca on remedying our loss on the lamp she replied she would speak to the employees and said she could assure us it would not happen again. She made no offer to replace the globe(s). We engaged another cleaning service today and they spent a little over 4 hours cleaning, a week after the above referenced poor performance by Clean to Shine. The new cleaners did an outstanding job and the cost of the cleaning was almost identical to Clean and Shine. Enough said.
