Happy to say, I keep coming back here. I'm hoping not to jinx it, but I have never had a bad experience at Ittos. Every single roll I've had tastes great. The chefs, the service, the quality, they all work together for a great dining outing. Some of my personal favorite rolls are the Romeo and Juliet and the Lionking. I saw some of the Bento boxes during a lunch visit, and those look yummy. I always order a set of edamame which start out the meal nicely. I am in shock that this place has any positive reviews. I took my daughter to lunch. She ordered sushi. The server brought out a plate and my daughter sat it aside to finish her soup. Then 10 min went by. We were talking and she hadn't finished and was waiting to ask the server about the sushi because it didn't look like her order. All of a sudden she comes to the table, says "wrong order!" And gave it to the lady behind us. After it sat at our table! That is horrible. Especially in these times!! Then our orders came out. My daughter and I went to the Orem location for lunch. My daughter ordered a roll. That was really gross and we asked for a different one instead the one that she replaced it with was cheaper than the original roll. When we asked for the bill they charged us for both rolls both the one that we sent back that she take one bite out of and the replacement roll now most restaurants you would think they'd want to take care of it for you at this location. They argued with us to pay for both since they made both. They also charged us for edamame which we never received and again continue to argue with us to have it taken off the bill. I will never go back here again and will make sure to publicly share my horrible experience in customer service at this location. read more

Best sushi in Utah! On Tuesday's and Wednesday's they have half off some rolls so it's affordable but not questionable. The sushi is DELICIOUS, the chef is very nice and usually will come thank you for coming to Itto. My favorite roll is the Lion King roll (I could eat maybe 3 or 4 at once ;-)) They offer freshly grated wasabi and homemade soy sauce upon request - bet you didn't know that! Their service and sushi is exceptional. Worst sushi and customer service experience i've had in a while. Usually i'm laxxed on restaurant servers because i was one for over 7 years but It literally took 20+ minutes for someone just to take our order. People who came after us got seated and their orders taken right away while we had to wait. After, we had to wait 35+ just for out food to come out completely wrong. This is my family's favorite sushi restaurant in Utah. Great atmosphere, newly expanded building, clean, great atmosphere, amazing service, really great prices for what you're getting (Wednesday is half off), and the best sushi by far. So many unique options and the traditional rolls are executed amazingly. We cheated on them last night and went to an all you can eat sushi up the street. My review of them was not so kind. Itto is very popular/busy for the area, most likely due to the lack of options in Midvale. Having walked into the restaurant for the first time, I couldn't tell if they had recently expanded into the adjacent spaces, with what looked to be unfinished construction and inconsistent wall/floor finishings. Our table looked/felt hand-made, and was placed along a poorly constructed bench(too low and short). I couldn't help but wonder, if they couldn't finish the walls in the dining area, what must the kitchen look like. As far as the food goes, it was ok, but I won't come back. I had a teriyaki bento box. The chicken was bland, until you mixed it with the sauce underneath it(I don't know why would these separate). The beef is finely chopped, rather than sliced, like I've had at other Japanese restaurants, so it's difficult to eat with chopsticks(avoid the hassle by choosing another meat option). Do not order the tempura ice cream for dessert. This easy upsell is coated with very salty batter that is too thick and undercooked. Our server, though very knowledgeable of the menu, was impatient with sushi recommendations for another first-time patron in our group; he actually left our table to take another order! We weren't greeted when walked in, after a few minutes of waiting for someone to seat us, no one came so we sat ourselves. Once the lady noticed us service was awesome, sushi was even better. We got the Dracula, Godzilla, and Mars rolls, all were really good, the Mars and Godzilla rolls were a little too sweet for me but still had good flavor. Grabbed a bento box here for lunch with sashimi and nigiri. It comes with white rice and a couple of deep-fried gyoza along with a salad. The salad was classic american with iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot and purple cabbage, but it had an nice dressing (a little on the sweet side). The sashimi was okay, the nigiri was good. Both were an assortment of tuna, salmon and yellowtail. It was a good deal for $12-13 post tip. Nothing special though. read more

The wait time usually isn't too long even when it's pretty packed. Everything I've had here was always good! We went to lunch at Itto sushi today. We live out of town and rely on Yelp for reviews. The reviews in our opinion we're overly generous to this restaurant. We both got bento boxes my wife got salmon teriyaki bento and I got chicken Katsu. Or salmon was two slices of salmon that it's on a sushi roll not a generous salmon piece. My chicken Katsu was also small and cold. Clearly it was premade and I cooked the order. The rolls were blah nothing special. The rice was older and hard. We typically look for a mom and pop Japanese restaurants. This was not one. Lastly while we were still eating the bill was presented "no rush" they said. But clearly they want you to clear the table quickly. We should've tried the Thai place next-door according to my wife. read more

Came back here several times and I just keep loving this place more and more! $6.99 specialty rolls on their 50% off rolls night (tues and wed) - and trust me, they are worth it. (I tried other rolls on their 50% list that is cheaper than 6.99 but we didn't like them as much) I have eaten at a lot of sushi places around here and this place is the best. Their fish is always so fresh. There is just the right amount of rice for each roll, which is one of the first things I'd notice in a good sushi roll. Very cute and neat presentation. Sit at the bar if you can because you'll get to talk to Itto, the owner there, and he is just the nicest guy! He remembers you and says the nicest things. I'm a big eater, I live in Utah for 4 years now. Eating is a big deal to me, so I've been looking for good Asian food in Utah for awhile now. This is the BEST sushi place in Utah, I tried Takashi, I tried Sunami and all the good sushi places in Utah. But this is my favorite! Couple things you need to know. 1. The fish are fresh, Itto (the owner) get the fresh fish every morning. 2. The price is great! Make sure to check theirs sushi discount dates. 3. The taste is really unique! Make sure to try theirs "Fire Bird" and "Sushi vampire" two of my favorites. 4. Customer service!!! Itto is pretty the best customer service I have ever receive in Utah. He is always so polite, and always finish his sentence with a bow. When they are busy and they keep you waiting for too long, he often give you some free stuff with a sorry. When the restaurant is not busy, Itto always give me some awesome treats to try. Like Sashimi (fish), or Nigiri (fish on rice). I come here at least once a week, even tho I live in Orem, the drive is 30 mins up. But it's totally worth it! So if you haven't try this place, you should! read more

I was excited to try this place after reading raving reviews. We came in on a Friday night and the place was packed. We were starving and ordered about 5 rolls and some miso soup. The service was slow, but it's understandable due to how busy the location was. A few things I noticed, the fish was very fresh. The quality of the fish was undeniable, really fresh fish and ingredients. However, the pairing of the ingredients did not sit well with my pallet. All the rolls just tasted very sweet. Only one roll was savory, all the rest were extremely sweet and the rice tasted underdone on half of them. A lot of the rolls fell apart too and it started tasting more like a rice dish. I have a inkling maybe ordering just the sashimi or nigiri would have been better for me. Overall, good fresh fish, but the sushi was too sweet for me. Coming into the place, you know it's gonna be good. Bamboo shutters, hanging paper lamps, and a bathroom that you have to pass through the kitchen to get to. On top of that, they have Japanese pop music videos playing on the TVS, so...obviously legit. The sushi was great and came out FAST. We got the Romeo and Julie (delicious with mango on top,) the Las Vegas (standard, lightly spicy, good,) and the Firebird (more hot, served on a flaming platter.) All were delicious. Recommend the Firebird for the novelty. I went with 4 stars because the prices are a little higher than I expected (not MUCH higher, but a bit) and it's taken us the longest time to get our check. Now my wife has never liked Sushi.....until today at Itto Sushi. This place is awesome we orders 3 rolls; a spicy Tuna, the Philadelphia: a smoked Salmon , avocado and cream cheese roll and finally the firebird a little more pricy at 13.95 but well worth it it had soft shell crab, tempura shrimp, smoked Salmon, cream cheese, avocado, rolled in a seaweed wrap and rice with a spicy mayo glaze and BBQ soy sauce brought to our table in an iron skilled set ablaze by Saki. Really recommend it. This place serves sushi rolls and other Japanese food that is close to authentic but won't put a dent to your wallet. I know they even have Tuesday and Wednesday 50% off sushi rolls deal but I went on the weekend to avoid the madness. Plus, if you want to get real Japanese food, avoid the sushi rolls. Those are American, believe it or not because there is no self-respecting Japanese would put cream cheese in their sushis. The Tempura Udon is legit. It is delicious. I spent many years studying in Japan and this bowl of Udon tastes as good. The soup almost have this smokey taste to it. It comes with a full plate of tempura vegetable that makes the whole dish feel like a steal for just about 10 dollars. To compare with other places, we did try the rolls as well. The Hawaiian Roll is creamy, sweet and sour all blended together. It is.. interesting. I heard Volcano is good, but the actual plate is a bit underwhelming. Too much toppings and the rolls are too overpowered by sweet soy sauce. the Cheesecake roll is not in the menu but specials on the wall. It has this nice spicy kick to it. The service here though is unfortunately seriously lacking. We were promptly seated but some of us were missing waters, the table soy sauce container was empty and there was mix-up on the orders as well. It was impossible to get attention from the servers. They probably noticed their own shortcomings in the service area, so they gave us mocha ice-creams on the house. So if you're looking for authentic Japanese food, I would recommend this place. Otherwise, the sushi rolls are pretty decent too. But come in a small group because they don't seem to have the capability to handle a large group based on our experience. This was our first time back since the restaurant changed ownership and it was better than ever! My favorite was the titanic! My hubs fave was the firebird. My 2 year old got the noodle entrée and enjoyed it as well. The service was excellent even though we were there on news years eve and it was packed! We will defiantly be back! Oh and Tuesday and Wednesday is %50 off! Yum! Went again, love Romeo and Juliet this time! Did not love the Vampire or the Samurai.
