Tuna

I came here with a group of friends to try their omekase and it was such a good experience! The chef explained each dish and each bite was delicious, most of them were unique and foods I had not tried before. The fish was very fresh and we finished the meal off with their house-made ice cream with pistachios. I appreciated how efficient everything was and it took less than an hour to get through the whole 16-course

I am here for a work travel and came across this sushi spot on Yelp and decided to check it out for a solo dine-in. The quality is and portion size is perfect and price is cheap compared to other places. Thanks for delivering when I asked for less rice! I recommend to check out if you're in the area.

My friend told me about this omakase that's only available at the Midvale location of Itto sushi, so I decided to try it out. They definitely selected the freshest sushi. Each course is beautifully presented. The handcrafted nigiri were amazing. One of them melted in my mouth! The sea urchin and toro were especially outstanding--each bite was rich and luxurious. The service was great. Each staff was friendly and knowledgeable, guiding us through each dish with explanations of the ingredients and preparation. I had an amazing experience. It is very expensive. I wasn't full in the end after paying over $100. I probably won't go again, but I think it's worth trying!

Stairs to heaven

I went here for lunch with some people from my work. We got gyoza to start and it was delicious. It was really soft and the flavor was great. We also go the stairs to heaven to share which comes with five pieces of nigiri. I had the toro and the salmon. I had asked the people I was with what toro was and the waitress heard me and came over and explained it to me. It's the stomach of the bluefin tuna, so it is more fatty. It was so delicious and literally melted in my mouth. The salmon was also very good. I had the playboy and it was good! One of my coworkers ordered the firebird. They bring it out wrapped in tinfoil and light the plate on fire. I tried one of the pieces and it creates a smoky flavor. It also cooks the salmon a little bit. It was really good. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food. I was really impressed by how the waitress went above and beyond to answer our questions. They serve Diet Coke. The vibes are really cute, and I really enjoyed eating here.

Called to make a reservation for omakase, the lady said her manager would call me back as she took my phone number & no one did. That is a sign for poor customer service.

Wow this was the fastest service we've ever had. We ordered 6 rolls, an appetizer, and soup and I swear we were out of there in under 30 minutes. We love that they do daily specials that are 20% off, the hand roll was a favorite. The tuna was so fresh and flavorful. The scallop dream was another surprise winner on the night, it was just the most unique of the rolls we ordered. Maddie was a very nice server and super quick. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks outside and everyone working seemed so nice.

I've come here a few times and they always deliver! Sushi is fresh and the staff is always welcoming. Maria was my server and was very attentive. Anytime I'm in Salt Lake City I always try to come here for lunch!

I've been to a few other Itto Sushi's and this location is EASILY my favorite! I already knew I liked the sushi, but this place had the best service and vibe. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, we were very impressed! It was pretty crowded on a Friday night and had a good atmosphere with good lighting and music inside. I ordered something new and got the Firebird roll since it was on the 20% off specials list, so amazing!! I loved it and it was the perfect spice level for me (which is not too much since I'm a wimp haha!) My boyfriend got the Itto Special, which wasn't what he was expecting but he liked it! For sure will be back, good sushi for a good price!

Miso soup, Dandelion Roll, Titanic Roll

I've been here a few times and every time the food is superb. The miso soup is lovely. The dandelion roll has a sweet taste to it which was a nice balance with our Titanic Roll which is more tangy. Both were amazing but I think I liked the Titanic roll a little more.

Came in for dinner with a party of four and had a great experience overall. We ordered the crispy fried calamari, pork gyozas, and five rolls: the Tsunami, the Spicy Masa, the Vegas, the Jenny, and the Cobacabana. My favorite by a good margin was the Spicy Masa. The habanero sauce is spicy-delicious, with real heat but enough flavor that you keep going back for another bite. The Vegas and Tsunami rolls are crowd-pleasers, and the pork gyozas are a solid starter to share. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, no complaints there. The atmosphere is where I'd push them to level up. The decor is simple and modern, which is fine, but it doesn't create much of a mood, and the dining room gets loud fast. If you're hoping for a quiet, intimate dinner, this probably isn't the spot. For a casual night out with friends or family, though, the energy works. One tip: get a reservation, especially on weekends. Walk-ins can be rough. We skipped drinks and dessert and still landed at around $165, so it's not a cheap night out, but the quality justified the price.

My favorites are the mussel shooters, popcorn shrimp and shisito peppers. It has a lively vibe and works well for a quick, casual visit. It's too nice to be considered a hole in the wall, so let's call it a hidden gem. We started with the miso soup (a must have in the winter months) and shishito peppers, both were excellent. The peppers were a little sweeter than expected but the flavor went excellent with a cold Japanese beer. Our mains included two spicy specialty rolls (twist and shout, and another) as well as a few types of nigiri. All was fantastic, especially the Black Sea Bream. I would absolutely stop here again, and you should too!

I used to be a big fan of Ika. I've brought countless friends here, I've raved about this place…read more Now I'm here to correct that mistake. The food quality has been slipping for months. I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. That ends now. Today, we came as a group of five to celebrate my friend. What should have been a memorable evening became one of the most infuriating dining experiences I've had in years. After we sat down, our waitress was nowhere to be seen for 10-15 minutes. Even when we saw her, we flagged her down 3-4 times and were still ignored. I had to physically get up and chase someone down, and still waited another 5 minutes for someone to take our order. There were only 3 tables in the restaurant. The waitress never once asked me or my friend's mom for our drink order- completely skipped over us. And when drinks did come out, she brought the wrong one to my friend's mom. When we asked for water refills. She filled two glasses out of five and walked off, when my glass was near empty. She then dropped a plate on our table. Moments later, I reached for the food and she snatched it back saying it was for another table. Rude doesn't begin to cover it. We asked for an extra spoon, a completely normal request, and it was met with a dirty look, as if we had asked for something outrageous. When I asked for extra ginger, she placed it at the farthest corner of the table. Whether intentional or not, it felt extremely careless and rude. We ordered uni nigiri, which is not a cheap order. It arrived without seaweed. I've ordered uni nigiri many times here, and it's always come with seaweed. When I flagged it, they didn't remake it, just shoved the seaweed under the rice. An insult to a $20+ piece of nigiri. Throughout all of this, this waitress had a visible attitude toward every reasonable request. What made it worse is that I'm Asian myself, and it was clear she was specifically singling out me and my friend's mom above everyone else at the table. The dismissiveness, the hostility, the microaggressions felt pointed and deliberate. I can only call it what it is: racism and sexism. No one should have to feel targeted at a restaurant they've loyally supported for years. Ika has lost a longtime champion. I will be actively discouraging everyone I know from setting foot in this place. Save your money, your time, and your celebration, and go literally anywhere else. ***Update*** I'd like to clarify a few things since the facts were misrepresented by your response. Funny you bring up my arrival time as if that somehow discredits me. I let my group know I would be a few minutes late, and it was not even close to being an hour. What matters is that after I sat down, our entire group waited 10-15 minutes waving down staff and being repeatedly ignored. I then got up and spoke to a different staff member who was filling ginger by the bar, not even our assigned waitress, and she had to find someone else to help us. That is not "flagging rudely", that is a group of paying customers desperately trying to get basic service. Again, there were only three tables including us. You're welcome to review your security footage to verify this. You claim you were watching closely, but if you were running a restaurant, I find it hard to believe you had the bandwidth to monitor our table that carefully. If anything, that explains everything: you were short staffed, your team was stretched thinly, and your regular customers paid the price for it. That is a management failure, not a customer problem. You also never addressed how long the waitress took to take our orders, never asking me for my drink order, bringing my friend's mom the wrong drink, making a disgusted face when we asked for an extra spoon, dropping the wrong dish on our table and rudely snatching it away, and placing the ginger at the farthest end of the table. Funny how none of that made it into your response. Most importantly, you said nothing about your waitress's sexist behavior toward me and my friend's mother. We were singled out, dismissed, and treated with hostility that the rest of our table did not experience. That was the most egregious part of our visit and you chose to completely ignore it. The uni argument is not worth debating. Seaweed in nigiri is a global standard. Doubling down on that is just embarrassing. I even called that evening to provide this feedback directly, and was told the manager was not available and would call me back the next day. That never happened. Instead of having a conversation and being willing to listen, you chose to come onto Yelp and make this a personal attack against me. Our group was only there because of my recommendation. I was your advocate. That ends now, and so does any business I would have ever sent your way. Your response has only confirmed what kind of establishment this is. So as you said best, goodbye!

A gentleman finally got up to go strike a match under someone's year end. The young female server comes over half grumpily with a slight wannabe smile, and takes our drink order. She brings most of the drinks fairly quickly. But doesn't even attempt to ask if we're ready to order and we've been there 25ish minutes waiting?! The grill across from us got sat after us and by the time she came back to see if we were ready to order, they were done with the show and eating. *InsertEyeRoll*. She took our orders, repeating them and went on her way and shortly returned with our soup and salad. A few more minutes go by just barely before our cook shows up. He gets asking about everyone's orders and meat preference. Awesome. He starts his show, as always... scrambled eggs and rice first right?! Unfortunately, out of 8 of us 7 ordered fried rice, one steamed. Server brought out steamed rice to the one, and cook dishes out 5 bowls of fried rice. Two of us question where our rice was. So they have to prep and cook in the kitchen. Like WTAF?! But whatever... Cook was good, but not overly funny. He didn't even use the funny oil peeing boy (IYKYK) which my 9yo old always gets excited about. Food was cooked just right IMO but server never came back to refill drinks or see if we needed anything. They don't have yum yum sauce it's something much runnier which was disappointing. After the cook was done, they were practically rushing us out, by picking up plates, offering boxes, and setting new clean dishwater near the grill. I'm glad that they are efficient, but where's my server? Where's my water & wine refill? For a Friday evening and NOT very busy, I was really bummed for how horrible our experience and service was. This is one of the best teppanyaki restaurants around. This server didn't do her job and our last 5 star experience turned to a 3 star and was underwhelming sadly.
