Thinking we just didn't understand the menu. We gave it a second try and it was not any better the second time they said they did not have a reservation, but seated us anyway. Our second experience was even more underwhelming. We found this place to be overpriced and difficult to get into for no real reason after two attempts I would not recommend if you're looking for a good restaurant in this area I would recommend Almameda that just received is Michelin star and did not disappoint.

The place is VERY easy-going and the staff is real. The mussels "a la Planca" are the best I have ever had. The crab claws are soooo fresh and incredibly good. I've also been able to communicate with yelp friends from around the world whenever I travel to a new city in order to get advice of where to eat and also for business information. Yelp is also a great way to keep track of your past experiences and it has become a digital record of where I have been and how much I enjoyed those locations. The restaurant was welcoming and the staff courteous and efficient. Over the course of the enjoyable two-hour dinner, I remarked that I had never seen waiters walk as quickly as those at La Vieille Auberge, whether hustling to the kitchen to pick up food for guests or from the kitchen with same. They all worked together, not simply assigned to one section of the restaurant. My wife had for her main dish one of the house specialties, paëlla, which was a mix of local seafood, chorizo and spiced rice. I had canard parmentier, described in the English-language menu as "duck shepherd pie." We shared an entrée of fish soup and a dessert of tiramisu. All the dishes were very well-made, tasty and well presented. My wife ate every bit of her paëlla, which is unusual for her. The bill was less than €50, but the only wine we had was a glass of sangria before dinner. Even so, I think La Vieille Auberge was good value for money. Clearly, many other people agree with this assessment: virtually every seat in the restaurant was filled tonight, some more than once. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular customer here.
