Hello, fellow daters! I wanted to share my experience with It's Just Lunch after completing my 6-month membership. I took a leap of faith and invested several thousand dollars, hoping to meet someone who would be a great match. During my membership, I went on a total of eight dates. While I met some genuinely nice and attractive men, every match lived more than an hour from where I live. I shared my concerns with my matchmaker multiple times, explaining that the distance was becoming a significant obstacle. Unfortunately, they continued to match me with people who were not geographically compatible. Although It's Just Lunch focuses on the Denver Metro area, I don't consider places like Fort Collins to be part of the practical Denver Metro dating area when you're looking at regular, long-term dating. The biggest challenge wasn't the quality of the men--it was the distance. It quickly became a barrier for both of us and made it difficult to build a relationship. My membership ended in May 2026, and because of the cost, I won't be renewing. That said, I do want to recognize the positives. The team handled all of the date planning, communicated well throughout the process, and always listened to my feedback. However, for the price of the membership, I expected my concerns about location to be reflected in future matches. Unfortunately, that never changed. Even if the membership were more affordable, I still wouldn't sign up for another six months because geographic compatibility didn't seem to be a priority. The dating coaches are nice, but so far have not connected me with anyone I would be interested in. They haven't been close to anyone I would date, it has felt like they don't have many clients so they have set me up with an existing pool. If you are considering this service, I would ask very specific questions about the existing clients, success rates for long term relationships, etc. Also, one man I went out with was complaining about being pressured to upgrade and pay 30k more, so not ok!! read more

Since I decided to join IJL, I have found my experience so far to be more positive and less work on my part. The online dating app thing has not worked for me. My matchmaker, Paige has been very responsive, supportive and is working hard to identify appropriate matches for me to meet. She and I have had constructive post -date conversations and we discuss recent dates and what transpired - the good and the bad... I definitely feel Paige is genuinely concerned in discovering an ultimate companion for me. I continue to stay hopeful and trust the process. Overall, I am just completely underwhelmed with IJL, the number of available women, the restaurant partnerships, the mediocre communication and lack of transparency about matches, and the inability of them to hold accountable to a contract that clearly states "one date per month". This company is a total joke. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! This goes out to both the men and the women. These people are very deceptive and manipulative I would say. If it is such a legitimate company and they are so highly impressed with their own performance, then ask for a 90 trial period to try out the service. That sounds fair I would think. Friendly watch-out to anyone looking to use IJL: they engage in very aggressive and predatory sales tactics. Be careful! Specifics on package offerings/pricing are not listed online. You have to speak with the local contact to get this information. She (Heather) very heavy handedly tries to immediately get you into one of their packages (which range in price, for women, from $3200 to $4800 -- not exactly a drop in the bucket for most) and will call you frequently trying to pressure you and play into emotional vulnerabilities to achieve a close of the sale. Additionally, if you engage with her and request written collateral outlining the details of the packages, the only thing she will offer to send you is a system generated 'document' (which happens to be their CONTRACT) for which she needs your address to send. Suspect? Yes! Long story short, I got the 'document' and saw that it was in fact a CONTRACT before ever entering my personal details and falling into the IJL trap. Expensive trap! Remember, Heather doesn't use the word 'contract' in the conversation about the 'document.' The link that she sends should (but from reading these reviews apparently doesn't always) trigger alarm bells for folks. It asks you to enter your name and driver's license number before entering. For those paying attention and YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION, you can actually review the file before entering your personal info and in doing so see that it's a CONTRACT. Be careful out there y'all! Know that dating and finding your person is hard but that you can do hard things! And you can do it WITHOUT IT'S JUST LUNCH! Hope this helps others. read more

I've read a number of negative reviews about IJL and feel in my case that my expectations and the reality of dating are much different than I was prepared for. My experience over the past year has taught me a lot and I have grown positively as a person. I truly believe that the matchmakers are trying very hard to find my future mate for life. they don't wish to disappoint and try hard to discover what it is I'm looking for, when perhaps I don't really know myself. I wish I did my research before joining. They have had two class action suits about deceptive practices. Stacy's deceptive comment on my review goes along with the two very similar class action suits IJL has experienced about deceptive practices. I also have no idea who this "Stacy" is as the entire time that I did business with them I had 0 interactions with anyone named "Stacy". Out of 8 months I had 0 matches. I'm not sure how they had so much difficulty finding someone for me, because when I go out on a Friday or Saturday night there is generally at least one woman who will give me her number without me asking for it. After a couple of months they only set me up on one date per month and the monthly charge is almost $100 and I had to pay THOUSANDS up front. After canceling this service I went on a common dating app and in 1 week I went on two first dates, exchanged numbers on both of them, and went on a second date. I don't understand how they struggled to find me a match when I don't struggle to find someone that I want to date and who wants to date me on a common dating app. read more

They act like this is some exclusive dating option for the elite..When really, it was full of a lot of socially awkward guys that I would have never chosen to date on my own. It's way too overpriced for what it is. By the end, I don't even feel like they were vetting these guys at all. I went on one date where the guy was still wearing his wedding ring....And there are plenty of stories that provide the same level of red flags. They are extremely pushy sales people that make you feel like you're completely unwanted and this is your only hope...Thankfully, I met my forever person and am now engaged. WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!! PLEASE DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I want to give negative stars but I can't. These people will give you an amazing sales pitch and reel you in with promises and amazing sales people. As soon as you sign up they pass you off to a terrible office assistant who will not listen to what you want and will only try to meet the monthly date quota. I was told "you are doing this wrong" several times. Both of my dates canceled last second without a sufficient notice given to me. I never went on one date with IJL and when I met someone and tried to cancel my membership and told them to simply keep my $560 deposit they told me they would not let me out of my agreement and I still owed the total $2700 plus a $98 monthly fee for the next 12 months. I asked them if I could pay half or a partial amount given they did NOTHING FOR ME, and they will not compromise at all. This is the worst mistake I have ever made!! I did 2 "tours" with IJL, I went out on a few extra dates, but the process is just unhealthy. They try to hook you up with as many people as possible during your contract time, so even if you find someone you like and put IJL on "pause" the other party is likely still dating. I also cannot figure out how several dates were matched with me when during my initial interview I said "I don't want to date a redhead or person with kids". I had to push back on them several times because that was who they were matching me with. Don't you have a little card of me with must haves/cannot haves when matching? Did you lose it, or do you just not care? I'm 112 lbs blonde and blue, my friend is blonde and hazel, and neither of us had a good experience. The last IJL "date" insisted that the best spot for a female was behind the stick shift in his truck so his dog could have the passenger seat and girls can "cross their legs". Since he was my last date I didn't flip out on him, but I should have. Waste of money, waste of time. read more

My experience was similar to all the other female customer reviews here. High sales pressure and extraordinarily expensive. One can justify the expense, as many hope, - if they "absolutely will find you some fantastic matches - I already have some in mind". This business is extraordinarily poor at matching individuals per the CLIENT'S criteria. Think of it as a group of "Heathers" playing with photos/profiles of folks and laughing while they experiment with folks that may have ONE thing in common - all the while pushing their theory about "it's not all about looks" or a first date spark. So what if it doesn't work out because of lack of compatibility (interests, activities) height or body types you find preferable, - it will count toward their quotas. AND - they are all blind dates. If I had seen 3 of the four dates in advance, I never would have met with them... and probably vice versa. It's not an "ELITE" service for so many reasons. One date told me he had been doing this for over a year.... ! Red flag on a) client base, and b) the talent of matching. Stick with online programs.... at LEAST you get photos and a little texting in advance to do your own initial elimination round... it's not a numbers game. read more

I believe ItsJustLunch is a professional dating / match making service that has the best interest of their clients in mind when they set their clients up on dates with potential matches. I used their services before and they set me up on dates with matches that did match my criteria and i was not disappointed and met some quality people through them. Having said that nobody can guarantee chemistry with your matches during the dates and they give no guarantees for that or for marriage (if thats what you want). I guess you need to go on the date with an open mind and see where it goes. I don't know where the executives at It's Just Lunch get off charging people as much as they do for what turned out to be a pretty basic match-making service. I was charged $3200 + $98/mo. just to be a member, with the only guarantee on their end to provide me at least one match per month. While the first few matches I got were somewhat attractive (note: *only somewhat*...certainly not what I would consider a *good* match, or, the answer to all my problems in online dating as I was essentially led to believe. If that was the best their human-hand-picked match makers could do, then I'd rather stick to a computerized algorithm), after about 4 or 5 "matches" the quality of the matches went steadily downhill, eventually leading me to drop my membership after paying off the initial cost as fast as possible (because they had the gall to also charge 18% APR to finance that $3200 payment). I initially only went to IJL out of curiosity but ended up feeling a high-pressure guilt-trip to join the service while performing an introductory interview (one that was supposed to be without obligation to join). I did not appreciate that. I became steadily more convinced that these people not only don't know what they're doing (I doubt they employ and neuroscientists, psychologists, or otherwise experts on love/dating/relationships) but that they are not acting in good faith to find me a quality match. They might ask for some feedback after your first few matches, but after that they stopped asking me how to improve the match quality. I suspect this is because they were running out of people to match me with, although I have no proof of that. Even when I voiced my displeasure at the quality of their matching, they tried to keep me on after I said twice I wanted to leave. I finally gave them an ultimatum that said they would need to provide me the full/regular services for free for a period of time and they balked at that. After sucking out more than $3000 from me this is what I get in return. Fuck them, and fuck It's Just Lunch. Stick to online dating - you'll have about the same success rate as using this service, but without paying an arm and a leg for it. read more

Look. I hate writing reviews, but my experience has been so horrible that if I didn't try to warn anyone out there, I would feel like I'm failing humanity. First, I was a client for less than 6 months. Mostly because I can find way better ways to waste money than getting ghosted by the matchmakers that are supposed to find me a special someone. Hell, if they could've found me ANYONE I would've been cool with that, but in my time, I got 1 date. The match was poor. I don't think they actually stopped to consider if there was any chemistry between us and instead just pushed us together. But lets start at the beginning. They sell it beautifully. They care, they're there for you, they're gonna help you find YOUR PERSON. Multiple failed date setups later (where they would call, ask for my availability, then disappear for 2-3 weeks with NO COMMUNICATION until you reach out and ask WTF and there is no date because the woman "got sick" or "doesn't have time" or whatever nonsense they can come up with), I began to be concerned. As I mentioned, after the 2nd time I had been ghosted, they matched me with someone who was legit the polar opposite of me. I'm loud and boisterous, she was....not (no offense to her. She was delightful, but just not a good match for me). Now, I signed the expensive contract that said I would get feedback about my dates, and they would help me use that to become a better dater. So, the following day when I have my call with them to get that feedback I'm told "we can't tell you what she said" DESPITE THAT BEING THE REASON I SIGNED UP FOR THE EXPENSIVE SERVICE AND IT'S WRITTEN IN THE CONTRACT. The whole call lasted less than 10 minutes and the biggest take away was, "you should text her". No shiznit! I should?! The girl I had nothing in common with who is the only woman you can pair me with? I SHOULD REACH OUT TO HER AGAIN? That's the sort of insight I can't get from tinder, bumble, hinge, eharmony, or THE FRIGGIN HOBO AT THE LIQUOR STORE and why I paid you $5k. Geeeenius! So, after all this and getting fed up with being ghosted and chasing them down and begging for a date, I cancelled. I asked if there was anything that could be done, since A. they didn't fulfill the contract and B. They gave me 1 date in the entire time. Kick me a partial refund and I'll go away. Probably wouldn't be writing this if they had, but would ya like to know what they told me "No, but we can let you freeze your account for $28 until you want to rejoin". Let me get this straight. You want me to give you more money until I'm cool with being ghosted by the people who are supposed to be finding me matches? If I wanted to be ghosted this frequently, I'D STILL BE ON TINDER. Maybe my hopes were too high but for $4,500 I expected great customer service and matches that were at least in the ball park. Neither was the case. It started off great with a 'match maker' apparently listening to what's important to me - even meeting in person. But the resulting dates were way off base from what I had specified. Including one who lives 7 hours away "oh, well, you didn't specify you were looking only for matches close by...". Twice I gave specific feedback on what did NOT work for me in the background of a person and twice I got 'matches' with the exact same background. Most of my calls or e-mails remained unanswered. In February of 2020 i decided it was time to start dating again so started my service with its just lunch. I went through a year with them having little dates and figured, meh it must be a covid thing. Ill take a break from it. In november of 2021 i decided to activate my service again. In those months since then i have been on 3 dates. The last date i got came after i told them i was canceling because of a lack of dates and communication from them. Since i had already paid i told them i would gibe them abother chance and thats whrn i got this one last date. Today i cancelled my service and decided i am going to leave a review. I am now embarrassed and regretting to not have checked reviews first. Anyone reading any of these reviews would never give them any money. There are probably many more men to women. They never seem to be able to match you with someone even remotely compatible. They obvioulsy want you single to keep sucking money out of you. The company is involved in lawsuits. This review is long past-due, as I was optimistically hopeful that I might recover my $3000 that was completely lost. This company is a nationwide scam, as I was interviewed by Denver Channel 7 (see link at bottom). I spoke with the attorney who was interviewed in the news clip and was going to join his class action lawsuit. Unfortunately, the contract I signed with IJL prohibits me from being part of a class action lawsuit. The attorney in the news article also told me that IJL is the longest client/lawsuit/case he's ever worked on, for nearly 20 years. Here is what happened to me they got me for 2400.00 for 6 months they set me up with women that I had little or know interest in I had a total of 6 dates that I can remember at $ 2400.00 that is $ 400.00 per date and if you are gone for 3 or for weeks at a time they will let you pay $ 59.00 per month to do nothing then they invited me to come back and with high pressure sales techniques were going to charge me $ 1900.00 for another 6 months but the deal was good only until Sunday. Terrible experience. For a relationship business they did nothing to build a relationship with me. I took the risk and paid the upfront $4700 they charged me for matching and feedback. Then they charge $100 for continued membership. definitely not worth it. They consistently matched me with people outside our agreed criteria, and would drag out connecting me to new matches. They offered me three more free matches and it was over the span of several months so I know that they took the time to specifically find a good match for me. The staff members are very personable, and they do work to accommodate schedules. And I understand that they have to find dates for whoever signs up. But honestly, it's just too expensive. My last 3 dates have been dreadful, and I could have met any of them in a bar or online.....except that I don't really hang out in bars or online. They are over priced and pressure you that you only have 3 times to decline a selection they pick for you so you are pressured into going onto a date with someone your not even attracted to. So you do the whole date thing and may/or may not work out and then done. Your dropped like a bomb shell unless you plan on paying them $$$ to find you another date. Don't waste your time on them and their high pressured sales team. They just boost your ego, make you feel like they are going to find the one who best matches you and they drop the bomb of no real prospects. My prospects didn't even live within 100 miles of my location. Be warned and trust your instincts as their sales team are highly manipulative personal who work on commissions to draw you in. This was a great concept and I bought in to it at a very high cost. I'll explain.... first let me make a correction and just say, it's a great concept ...IF you're a man. Like so many men and women, I did not care for the dating websites. Even with careful vetting, the other person is rarely fully truthful in their profile, you could never be sure of who was going to show up for a date. So the idea of having candidates interviewed or prescreened if you will, was very attractive. I get interviewed and screened for my attributes and preferences and so do the men. Then hopefully Voilà.... I meet someone. Maybe he's not "the one" but he's a good match and we enjoy ourselves because we have characteristics we both were seeking in a date. Or so they would have you think... Come to find out, straight from the mouth of one of my male matches, that there was no matching going on; only fulfilling the "date quota" We met, we immediately discovered we weren't quite the right match and even admitted as much to one another, but did enjoy an enlightening conversation regarding the whole IJL organization. He admitted that he goes on all sorts of dates, match or no match, because there were so few men in the system and that women flocked to the service. As a result, without more men they couldn't fulfill the promised "Introductions". So what men there were, dated us women regardless of wether they were a match or not. Needless to say I was upset, actually livid is a better way to put it. The service is expensive and here I was being duped! So as not to go on too long.... I fought to get my money returned. After a bit of a back and forth, I was successful. So.... men have fun, but gals, be forewarned. I decided to review after seeing increased advertising for IJL. I'm sure I'm not in your system since I did make a stink and finally recouped my investment after 3dates. After meeting the gentleman that was honest with me as to his experience, I wasn't going to go on any more "dates". As for his "experience", he was candidly honest with how he was specifically approached by IJL to go on meets due to the lower number of men to match. I hope it is the case that your number are more equally aligned today. But I was also assured back then that there were plenty of men with which to find great matches. What else would a business say? I reiterate... it's a great concept. I like(d) the idea especially since, at the time, qualifying factors were supposedly taken in to consideration. I did my research before joining and brought my concerns to my "interview". I thought Jen, my account person, was honest. HA! HAHAHA! I made the grave (and expensive) mistake of joining. Jen promised 2 - 4 dates a month - nope! Try one every 6 - 8 weeks (if that). I complained, of course, and got the massive blow off. Jen told me they were raising their rates to $2200 which, if true, is even a bigger rip off than the $1800 I paid. Jen told me they have quality singles such as doctors and business executives and all are highly professional - nope! Just as superficial and flaky as random people I meet out. Jen told me they have great matchmaking - nope! Never listen to "feedback" they ask for and just throw out random people that I have nothing in common with. I asked point blank "so, I was told that I could expect a minimum of 2 dates a month". Dead silence...... Bottom line - run, run away!!! When joining I felt like they really listened to me about the person I was looking for. I understand it is a process and they are supposed to refine with each new date. Well the dates got worse as time went on. I was very open and honest about the dates I went on and what was or wasn't a fit. 6 totally worthless dates. I was committed to the process, paid for it and took time out of my schedule to work the process. PLUS I found out that there are several pricing structures out there. I wasn't told about these options. When I confronted them about the pricing they said you really should talk about that with other people. I only started to question when each date was worse than the one before. Then they had a sister company to call me and tell me they would do 1:1 matching for me and GO find me the guy. The price was $30K. Yep. Felt bait and switched at that point. I honestly would not EVER recommend anyone to use this service. When you are a professional and you speak to another professional about a service you think that you are going to get what you paid for. You are led to believe they are truly interested in your feedback. Well I can promise you...each date was almost a $1k and the professional matchmaking was awful. I was never offered any additional dates to try to make up (not sure I would have taken them). Just a call from an elite sister company trying to get more money out of me. Trying to bait me and hard sell me again. I will say the marketing efforts are amazing but they can't/don't do what they say they will.
