Mind you, the interesting thing was that a number of bikies rocked up when I was here, so yeah, it seems to be a very English thing that one of the oldest pubs ends up being a bikie bar. Still, it is pretty cool pub.

Food menu is good and varied for a "standard" menu with an extra specials menu of more expensive dishes. I had a gorgeous little homemade shortcrust pastry steak, stilton & mushroom pie with fat chips and a large side plate of veg from the standard menu. All were VERY well cooked and full of flavour. The pie pastry was perfect! My wife had a gorgeously juicy, big, thick Barnsley chop from the specials menu. Again, it was perfectly cooked and came with nicely designed bacon wrapped bushell of French beans. We will definitely be back!

It is a small traditional pub which has a limited amount of seating. The landlady/landlord are very friendly and very professional. Above the pub is a restaurant called the Grillroom. I have never eaten in the restaurant although I have intended to on a couple of occasions. The restaurant is closed on Monday's. I understand from friends that the restaurant is very good. I enjoy drinking in this pub for it's local charm. I believe it is the best pub in Bingham. It is just a shame that there is no beer garden

Now it is pitched at the older crowd as it offers many choices for bitters and out of the ordinary lagers can also be had. It also has that olb pub feel to it, or at least tries to create that feel and that is where I think it struggles. There is a mis match of what is in there. Rough wooden floors and beer barrel tables give out one signal, but then a smart little conservatory added on give it another. I can never decide whether it is a temporary building or a proper pub. It has that kind of cross between a local and having a drink in the Scout Hut. Despite my reservations on whether or not the feel is right inside, it is very popular and as with any pub as long as the people in there are having a good time then it makes it a good place to be. People seem to like it and I can be persuaded.

It has been refurbished (summer this year), so I decided to have a look earlier this evening. On arrival, we were greeted and shown to a table (as you might expect at a restaurant). The table we were given was in a rather dark corner black patterned wallpaper, wood pannelling stuff on the walls, dark curtains, etc. A waitress took our drinks order, and returned with menus. The menu is varied and fairly extensive. The usual pub food on there. I chose lemon and thyme roast chicken. My husband had Chicken Tikka Masala.The meals arrived in about 3 minutes! Mine loked OK nothing special. The chicken breast was dry, overcooked, and too tough to cut, on the edges. The new potatoes were overcooked, and they were greasy. My husband's meal was nothing better than a supermarket microwaveable curry (it was probably just that. DISAPPOINTING. The dessert was a bit better chocolate nut brownie with ice cream though the brownie was very dry. I can't comment much on the decor, as we didn't see much of it having been seated in a corner, not far from the door. Another PUB trying to be a restaurant, but without restaurant-quality food! One on my list to avoid in future.

It has 29 acres of village green right outside which is believed to be the largest rural common in England. It's great to sit outside in the summer and watch a game of cricket, get house envy or watch the cows eating the grass. There is a campsite out back as well and the field is also used for other events such as Old Car Rallies. Inside there is a restaurant area to the left and a lounge area to the right with an unusual vaulted ceiling. Food is good value and down to earth with light bites around £7.00 (these are just enough for a decent meal with dessert - the bigger dishes are huge!!!) I always enjoy trying out the guest ales which are described on a board near the bar. All in all it's a great place for a summer afternoon's drinking or a relaxing meal which everyone in the family will enjoy.
