Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

On the main road, is a large car park, which opens onto the pub's beer garden and the rear entrance. The pub itself dates to the 17th Century and is grade II listed. The facade is pretty as a postcard, with creeper growing over the stone walls. Inside, a fairly thorough makeover gives it a more modern feel, with white and pastels complementing the wooden furniture. They have an a la Carte and fixed price menu. The offering varies from sandwiches and light bites to full meals. I had the garlic mushrooms with grated Parmesan on brioche toast (£7.95), friends had the Locally Sourced Ham, Free Range Fried Eggs & Chips (£10.95); and Beer Battered Haddock with Chips, Peas & Tartar Sauce (£13.95). Popped in on the way back from a cold day out at Alton Towers…read more We got a lovely warm welcome, were quickly seated near a roaring fireplace and settled in for a great meal accompanied by some very well kept Hartington IPA. The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail. We'll definately be heading back soon (to the Royal Oak not Alton Towers, which is another story)!

This lovely pub has just been voted East Yorkshire village pub of the year & was joint runner up…read morethe year before It sells a great ploughmans lunch consisting of french bread,pork pie,cheese & pickles a definate must try as this is totally delicious,they also do snacks & evening mels as well as the lunches.If you are after staying over the do b& b here too.Children & dogs are allowed but must be kept under control There is a lovely garden for warmer months with seating/tables & for those colder ones theres a lovely log fire.A warning to smokers you can smoke outside but they no longer sell cigarettes etc so make sure you have plenty with you They have a lounge & seperate games room that has pool a table,darts & sky tv Another fav of mine here is a filled yorkshire pud with cumberland sausage,mash & gravy lovely when coming in from the cold really warms you up & tastes lovely
