It's a bit odd walking in here, because it's had a slightly northern Engliand gastro-makeover, but isn't becoming of a country pub in the middle of nowhere; but when you get past this, the staff are charming, and the food is surprisingly good. Perhaps now what's needed to be addressed is catering and servicing larger dining parties as well as a little more attention to detail on final bills being correct and not taking so long to resolve this would be a little less embarrassing for both parties too. Their light bitter is 3.7%abv. Nice menu of pub food, then he pointed out special today was Liver and bacon. The large portion came with excellent mash, loads of gravy, peas and onions and was absolutely delicious. The jovial Landlord was good for a bit of a natter, and despite there not being too many people in , there was a nice atmosphere, one of the reasons I used to patronise it in my youth, and it only cost me £8.75 What a lovely experience to go back there

I ordered Crayfish & Salmon which looked so lovely I didn't want to eat it. My husband's Porcini soup was delicious and presented initially with the garnishes then topped afterwards with the soup from a jug! It was wonderful! Main courses were equally tasty and impressive. I had Hake which was cooked really well and the accompanied vegs all complimented it fabulously! Husband had Beef, son had Lamb, mother in law had Pork all were fantastic.
