It's a bit odd walking in here, because it's had a slightly northern Engliand gastro-makeover, but isn't becoming of a country pub in the middle of nowhere; but when you get past this, the staff are charming, and the food is surprisingly good. Perhaps now what's needed to be addressed is catering and servicing larger dining parties as well as a little more attention to detail on final bills being correct and not taking so long to resolve this would be a little less embarrassing for both parties too. Overall a disapointing experience sadly.

Said I wanted a pint of a lightish bitter, he served me Harvest Pale (3.8%abv), it was excellent, good taste for such a light bitter, though when I had sat down I spotted an Adnams pump, and old favourite of mine, indeed I have just driven from East Suffolk where its brewed in Southwold. Their light bitter is 3.7%abv. Nice menu of pub food, then he pointed out special today was Liver and bacon. The large portion came with excellent mash, loads of gravy, peas and onions and was absolutely delicious. The jovial Landlord was good for a bit of a natter, and despite there not being too many people in , there was a nice atmosphere, one of the reasons I used to patronise it in my youth, and it only cost me £8.75 What a lovely experience to go back there

Also more importantly there carvery is delicious. There is the standard vegetables with things like turkey, pork, gammon and beef. They also have the nice sauces like cranberry, mint, mustard etc. The service is very nice and they have a great selection of deserts. They are nothing fancy but they are things you want, including an apple pie with a bottemless jug of custard, nicklebockaglory, chocolate cakes etc. The downside to the place is that they can be quite stingy on the meat and you should not be afaid to ask for more as they really dont give much

I ordered Crayfish & Salmon which looked so lovely I didn't want to eat it. My husband's Porcini soup was delicious and presented initially with the garnishes then topped afterwards with the soup from a jug! It was wonderful! Main courses were equally tasty and impressive. I had Hake which was cooked really well and the accompanied vegs all complimented it fabulously! Husband had Beef, son had Lamb, mother in law had Pork all were fantastic. I had a taste of their Yorkshire Pudding which was fantastic too. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

The fish and chips is AMAZING - exactly what fish and chips should be: super crispy batter with delicious melt-in-the-mouth fish inside. Love the chunkly chips, especially with mayonnaise. The sea bass is also really good. Finally dessert is yummy too - I particularly like the sponge pudding which they were nice enough to give me with custard and icecream! Seriously go hungry - you will want 3 courses - especially for only 20 quid!
