I used It's Concrete to create a concrete counter top for an outdoor kitchen. Nick was awesome out of the gate and very communicative. When the countertop was installed it looked beautiful but one of the seems was off, as in not smooth as there was a 1-2mm height difference between the two pieces. Nick noticed the issue and notified me, unfortunately I was not there when the installation took place. I voiced my concern with the quality and he said he would come out to see when he could do. Within two weeks there were cracks everywhere. Nick warned about cracks and directed me to the contract which covered him against cracks. I asked Nick to come take a look and tell me what could be done and he said he would but then he just stopped responding and I have sent countless messages with no response. Overall, I would not recommend using concrete for an outdoor kitchen counter as it cracks very easily and I would not recommend using It's Concrete as if you have any issues you won't get any help or response. read more

I was way behind on my remodel timeframe (with a baby on the way), and he pulled out all the stops to deliver a perfectly fabricated countertop days earlier than promised, and weeks earlier than what other fabricators could do. Found Nick on Yelp! and what a great find it was. We had Nick build us a counter/bar top for a home outdoor kitchen bar. We met as his shop (pre-pandemic) and saw some samples and color options. We loved the crushed shell option and Nick did not disappoint. We planned for an April install and planned together for an easy install including safe distancing to protect his team and our family. The install took maybe an hour or so and we LOVE our counter/bar. It came out better than expected with the shade of grey and crushed shells its perfect for our backyard spot. Fairly priced, very friendly and consultative on each detail of the project. I love Nick. He's a super super sweet guy, he trained directly under Buddy Rhodes who's one of the grandfathers of decorative concrete, and I thought he was reasonably priced. And even though my counters are black, it wasn't easy getting the black right. He kept having to add green so the undertones would harmonize with the marble in my island. He was easy to work with and is experienced and creative enough that you can throw anything his way and he's got enough expertise to design it. My concrete cost about the same as granite, but I got a very unique and interesting look. If I can figure out how to upload pix, I will of my wonderful counters. I just recommended him with absolute confidence to our kitchen designer since she's got clients who want concrete done. read more

OK so it all started last April when I applied to be on HGTV's Colorsplash...I received a call, auditioned, got on...demanded that I get concrete counters. Nick was called upon to do the job and let me tell you...his counters were the best part of the makeover! If I could give 2 millions stars as a rating for It's Concrete, Nick, and his family, I would! We remodeled our kitchen last year and my husband obsessed concrete counters. He originally found a company in Santa Cruz, but they didn't respond, so I went online and found Its Concrete. I called Nick and asked if he would come out and talk to us. Its Concrete is in Hayward and we're down near Los Gatos. Nick came on a Sunday and spent almost 3 hours talking to us about all of the different options we had. After our visit, there was no question that we wanted to work with Nick! From there, it just got better. We have beautiful concrete counters, with drain board, fruit bowl, unique cool stuff that we love (check out pictures on Its Concrete's Web site), and we also have a fireplace that Nick, my husband and brother in law (who by the way installs IKEA kitchens), designed and created. Nick also invited us to Hayward to pour the concrete, both for the counter tops and the fireplace, which my husband and brother in law happily accepted. I contacted Nick from New York to see if he could help me with an art installation I was doing in San Francisco. I needed a series of concrete slabs fabricated with a particular surface treatment, and most importantly, extremely accurate dimensions as they had to fit together to form a sculptural form. I sent him drawings and photographs of what I was looking for. Nick understood immediately what I was after. He did numerous tests to achieve accurate surface texture and color, then poured the finished slabs, and delivered them to the gallery for installation. The work was outstanding, precisely what I had envisioned, and was received well by visitors and the press (several reviews appeared in both local and national papers). I had never met Nick prior to the delivery of the finished pieces. We communicated by email and phone. He was always receptive, courteous, and in fact excited about working together on the project, and he got the job done on somewhat short notice. What's more, his fee was extremely reasonable (he actually charged way under what he probably should have!). Nick fabricated the countertops in our three bathrooms. He is absolutely, hands-down, a fabulous person to work with. He truly cares about the end product and he went *well* out of his way to ensure we were happy. Here are some examples: - We wanted custom colors, which he gave us with no extra charge because we were ordering so much countertop. - As part of the custom colors, he provide multiple samples so we could pick the right color, all free of charge (though it does cost him money and time to do). - He made repeated trips to our house (which is quite a distance from his shop) to make sure all the details were worked out throughout the project. - We some how miscommunicated our desire for a backsplash so it didn't get included in the quote, so Nick gave us one for free. - We bought a faucet that was a bit too short for the vessel sink we'd bought and we were very stressed. Nick went out to a store and bought us an extender piece for our faucet that matched perfectly, saving the day. We knew very little about remodeling going into the project and Nick was able to provide invaluable advice about other aspects of the projects besides the countertops. In particular, he has a very good design aesthetic and suggested multiple design modifcations to our project that we absolutely love. For example, we have a two-tier countertop in our master bathroom (with a 4 inch step up between them). We were going to put concrete on both of them, but Nick helped us decide instead to put some beautiful stone tiling on the upper-tier. It was exactly the right decision, aesthetically. Even though Nick would have profited from another 7-foot wide stretch of concrete, he helped us make the right decision for the space. Overall, I recommend Nick to anyone interested in having concrete installed in their house. read more

His reviews were all great and I could tell that he does a great job based on his portfolio of images. I called him and unlike MANY other contractors I have called and worked with, he called me right back and the back and forth communication was unheard of. He provided me a very reasonable quote and also committed to a very tight deadline. He later came over to do the measurements etc. He was VERY thorough not only with creating the mold but also with explaining ALL the options with me, providing me with examples, and talking through all my questions. My wife and I are doing a complete remodel of an Eichler home, and had originally hired Nick to design and fabricate a hearth for our fireplace. It's Concrete is a first-class operation with great customer service as well as very fine craftsmanship. Nick produced an exquisite custom concrete countertop (three slabs, actually) for my bathroom with a sink basin cast into it, helping to capture the aesthetic that my designer was working with in my bathroom remodel. Color, finish, and measurements were all PERFECT; Nick was not off by one millimeter on the completed slabs. Nick provided a fancy drain and built a teak slatted edge to the sink, both for free. The remodel wasn't slowed by waiting for the countertop---Nick produced it faster than scheduled, which was good since we were probably a little late in telling him to start. Is it possible that a specialty contractor could actually live up to everything that I've just said? Not usually. But It's Concrete is a 10/10. After the job was finished, he came by to check on the countertop and brought a bottle of sealer to give me. Plus, Nick is just a wonderful person and has a lovely family who you might get to meet during the job. I would recommend Nick to anyone who is interested in custom concrete countertops.
