Would you go into some little garage tucked into a back corner like this? Probably not, unless someone told you to. Well, I'm telling you to. The guy who does it all here is named Boris. Boris has probably been doing the mechanic thing for 40 years and it shows. He will not let you drive away without letting you know about all your problems and what you should be doing.
I've had an oil leak for... longer than I care to admit. To Boris I went, and he listed my car up and walked me under it to point out the places I was having issues with. It was doing to require the entire engine to be pulled out and resealed. While we were under there, he pointed out that some of the plastic panels on the underside, near the bumper, were missing a screw to hold them together, and that I'm overdue for a realignment based on my tires (and that Michelin sucks for regular vehicle tires). He also pointed out that I'm overdue to have my brake fluid changed once he lowered it off the lift.
Now, understanding all of his bits of knowledge can be a bit difficult due to a heavy eastern European accent (cue the "in Soviet Russia..." jokes), but this dude knows his stuff. He makes all of his recommendations for products (tires, oil, etc.) after lots of research and trying them himself. Last but not least, he will test drive your car once it's in his possession. He also let me know I had some other things to add to my "get it fixed list" with some specific comments from his test (braking at a certain speed has some vibration that shouldn't be there, etc.).
I feel like most of his work is with high end brands and luxury vehicles, but he wasn't too phased by my 10 year old Acura. He definitely works on a lot of BMW, Mercedes, and the like. I've even spotted a Ferrari in there before.
Last but not least, when you pull in, park on the right side of the lot. He has a guard dog on the left side of the property that likes to bark at everyone.
Oh, edited to add: Most places don't offer warranties on resealing engines. Boris does a 1 year on his work and I think that speaks volumes. read more
